What do you do if you're going out?

Florence is 17 weeks old and i've decided to stop exclusively breast feeding and just give her a breast feed in the morning and formula for the rest of the day.

However, I've been doing what it says on the tin of formula we have and making up the bottles as and when they're needed.

But how do we do this if we are out and about? Take the tin of formula, find somewhere with boiling water and do it same as at home? It seems a lot of hassle!

Do some people make theirs up in advance?

Many thanks in advance

What milk is she on? I've always used the readymixed cartons when out they're very handy.

I have always used pre made liquid cartons when out. I Pack a carton along with a little pair of scissors and a sterilised bottle. Works a treat. I know some people use thermos flasks etc and make up feeds when out. It's just not for me. i'd worry it wasn't the right temp or safe etc. i use cartons to save my own flapping! He is happy to take at 'straight out of the carton' temp, which is convenient and safe according to pack instructions.

If you do take formula powder out with you, invest in a formula dispenser pot/s. i have a nifty stacker pot system by Bibi, which i use at home to have pre measured amounts raring to go.

I am just going to repeat what everyone else said...you can buy already made up bottles. I bf but enfamil keeps sending me free samples of formula and they sent me premade bottles which I had no idea existed but there pretty nifty and I plan to use them once I decide to wean (right around teething time)

Initially when I stopped BF, I would take a sterile bottle, formula powder and a thermos with boiled hot water with me and then mix up a bottle as I needed it. Eventually, it occurred to me that it was more of a hassle cooling it after than it was worth (one too many times stuck in a pub toilet trying to cool a bottle under running water while my food got cold!). Now I just use the ready to feed single cartons and a sterile bottle when I'm out. I only do a couple feeds a week not at home, so the extra expense of the cartons wasn't a big deal and it's so much easier as I don't need to heat or cool it.

I opted to avoid ready made bottles- too expensive for me! I usually put the water in the bottles and cap them before I go out. I bought a little plastic formula dispenser from the dollar store, so I measure out my powder into that and then away we go! Hassle free

Edit: I've also used the Similac on-the-go packets. It's pre-measured powder and each packet makes a 4 oz bottle. Those are also a lifesaver!

Lo on hypoallergenic formula so can't use ready made :(

I make up bottle and put in thermal lunch bag, good for 4 hours. Got a tommee tippee flask bottle warmer or make sure near somewhere with microwave at feed time!

If going out all day, premake 2 bottles and bring sterilised bottles and powder pre measured in little food pots. :)

We do the same thing.

I measure the milk powder into a little pot and take a bottle with cooled boiled water in it, then just mix the 2 when the feed is needed.

I don't use ready to use feed either- it is far too expensive!

We use the ready made 2oz bottles when we're out. I did have to take a bottle with the water in it and formula powder in a small container to add for my sensitive twin when we ran out of his small bottles once. We never boil the water. We just use the bottled baby water.

we do exactly the same thing. My lo has a milk allergy too but before he was diagnosed we just used the ready made bottles too.
