We have our first pre-natal appointment set for Wednesday October 31st! I know I am pregnant, but we are going to confirm my pregnancy and talk to the doctor about everything. What should I expect for the first appointment? Will they draw blood and/or test a urine sample? Im assuming so since they are going to confirm my pregnancy. But I just want to know if my appt will be like an annual exam, or what do they generally do?

they dont confirm pregnancy :D, they take your word for it lol! 1st appt is usually pretty boring tbh! just family and medical history, leaflets etc!

Probaly tell you a due date, give you a pap if you havent had one recently. My doc tested for STD's, UTI, and since they didnt do blood work there gave me a script to have blood drawn. Which tested hiv, if your RH- or + if I was vacinated for certain things, if I was a carry for certain things, it was pretty boring. Every appt Ive had so far has been. My 16 week checkup is today and Im not expecting much! lol :headspin:

I was told by my best-f to expect a looong day out of it. I know when her sis went, after all the tests, pap, paperwork, etc... they were in the doc's office for about 3 hours. Yuck!

i had mine the other day my midwife did loads of form filling and asked loads of questions, she did my blood pressure and my weight then she took bloods for testing. took about 45min

Id already done a urine test for him so he just confirmed with me that I was pregnant, went through family history, booked my first midwifes appointment and asked my preference of hospital. Thats it really! Not very exciting.

I have my first appointment November 2nd. They told me they are doing an u/s first, then I will meet with the OB to do blood and urine tests and go over family history and high risk factors. We will also go over any questions we have with her. (which we have a lot!)
It's not supposed to be uber exciting, but I think it is just because it makes it more real that we are actually pregnant. Plus if everything is ok it will really help me de-stress.

My first appointment was pretty routine like the other ladies have said. I was approx 9-10 weeks at my first appointment.

I filled out quite a few forms and answered loads of question on medical/family history. They did a urine test and recorded my weight. They also did an ultrasound and also gave me a prenatal vitamin prescription. My doc scheduled me for blood test about 2 weeks following.

I have a nurse's visit tomorrow and my first doc visit and US on Monday...I'm thinking the nurse's visit it going to be BORING

For my first appt it was to have my pregnancy confirmed. After they took urine they said yup. It's positive. Then the doctor gave me a nice book with alot of info about pregnancy. Then she Took my weight, blood pressure and family history. Talked about any risks. Then Talked over what I wanted to do (if I was going to keep it or not.) then they booked me for my first US, pap and they gave me a form to go get my blood work done. It only took about half hour - 45 mins.
And expect to give a urine sample at every appt. They take it to check sugar levels etc and make sure it looks healthy.

Yup, all of the above lol.

Lots of questions, blood test, urine test, got an U/S booking (for dates) and thats pretty much it. They didn't check me internaly until my 2nd visit.

Thanks for the replies everyone!! I figured it would be the things mentioned above. I usually don't look forward to going to the doctor but I can't wait till next Wed.! :)

aww.. :( Did they schedule you like that? I know some doctors won't see you until you are so far along. Or was that the soonest you could get in?
