What's a doppler?

Hi ladies,

this is my first pregnancy so excuse my lack of knowledge but I keep reading about a doppler that can hear the beans heartbeat. Can anyone explain what this is and where you find them? Also when abouts is the best time to start using it?

It's a device that allows you to listen to the fetal heart rate. Some work as early as 10 weeks - haven't used one myself so not 100% sure!
