So now Brookes over 6 months im wondering when im supposed to switch her over to this follow on formula?

She still drinks a fair whack of formula so id prefer not to switch until she's having less as she's doing well on what she's on

When did you make the switch with your LO's?

I asked my hv this last week and she told me to not bother although it has more iron in the follow ons she said as long as they have a varied diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg they they dont need it !

my HV also said that if they are fine on the first milk don't bother changing it. Something about the fact that first milks are made with the whey, follow on milks also have the curds which can sometimes cause constipation etc, so if the baby is still fine with the first one don't worry. She said the advertising makes you think you have to change when really you could still use the first milk until they are weaned.

hmmm i was wondering this to i was gonna swap but might wait now
x

i changed it straight after she was six months......didnt bother her and didnt notice any difference in her poo or anything

I was thinking about this too. Was planning on swapping formula at that point and going from Aptamil to Cow and Gate (mainly because it's always on offer everywhere) - has anyone done this?

i didn't bother tbh holly, maddi was fine with her aptamil hungry baby and as long as they are having a varied diet its fine not to switch until 12 months. i have now switched to cow's milk and the aptamil toddler formula was is fab! x

i changed Chloe dead on 6 months but thats due to her veggie diet, and follow on costs less! she still has stage 1 before bed as that taked longer to digest

my friend was also told the same, i havent even asked it has taken long enough to get her off lactose free so will just stick with regular formula first but if thats right about them not needing it she gets all home made fruit and veg everyday anyway so may not need to

We waited until Hannah was 9-10 months old? wasn't going to switch at all until I read somewhere that it had more iron and calcium and as Hannah's milk intake is low as you know I figured it couldn't be a bad thing

I put liam on because he only really takes his morning and night bottle so want him to have more good stuff in him :)

Cant remember exactly when but it was when he was over 6 months and I needed a new tub, We didnt have any problems swapping over not even sure he noticed x

I still give Jay the baby one. My HV told me if he was happy with it then there's no need to change so I haven't done. I'll probably wait till 12 months and start to give Jay cows milk.

xx

We switched at 6 months. AJ didnt notice. I changed due to AJ not having a big milk intake and the added vits to follow on.

I want to try and change around 6 months because of the added vits/iron etc but now I just read its made with curd rather than whey not sure she'll change as she didn't get on with hungry baby milk.. HV told me to get some multi vit and iron drops from the chemist as Liss is a veggie, so I have that as a back up if she doesn't like the milk.

I'm still unsure as to when to change... Probably give her a go on the cartons first and see if she takes to it okay, I want her to have the extra iron etc just for peace of mind i suppose x

i switched just after 6 months. she didnt notice the difference tbh! that said tho, she'd only been formula a month! i was hoping it would satisfy her a bit longer with it being higher calorie and stuff cos she was on 5+ 8oz bottles a day! didnt work mind!!

I started at 6 months,it has extra iron and that was my only reason.
She never noticed the difference, and was fine on until 18 months.

I was thinking about this too as Kaitlynn has just gone 6 months. My HV said not to bother either. I'm worried it might make her constipated because I had to switch back to stage 1 of C & G because stage 2 gave her bad constipation.
