I won't be getting my blood test until 9+2, and the second appointment I will be about 9+4.

So, I have another 2 1/2 weeks to wait.. and they won't move up my appointment (not because they're too busy). I know for a fact that you can detect a heartbeat before 9 1/2 WEEKS!

:growlmad: I am just so angry right now that she won't move my appointment up.

when did you all get your first appointments?

:winkwink:heart beat can be detected via scan before 9 weeks but as for midwifes they normally dont see u till after 8 wks as like u to miss 2 periods ( possibly due to number of misscarry in this time ) with my little boy i was the same but im pregnant again 7 wk on sat coming and not even called docs yet as more relaxed and laid back although i have booked a private scan for 8 wks just to put mind at rest as had no symptoms at all this time round x

My first appointment isn't till 11+4! So far away! They are sending me for lots of blood work and that's about it. I don't even think I will have an ultrasound at my first appointment. How do you get an early scan done? I really would love a little picture for the grandparents and for my husband and me.

My doctor is a NP/Midwife - and I won't be using her as a prenatal doctor - I want a traditional birth.. she's just my gynecologist.

I have a friend who got an ultrasound and blood test the DAY AFTER she got a positive pregnancy test.. and she's had lots of ultrasounds. I guess that's what's nice about living in a small town where everyone knows each other by first name.. I know for a fact that everything would already be confirmed if I was back home.

I guess I'm going to have to get used to this though..

I had my first appointment around 5-6weeks. Just to confirm by blood test. Had another appoint around 7 weeks to do all the prenatal paper work and refer me to an OB. But my doctor did not check for a HB until I was around 11 weeks. I think every doctor is different.

I met with the nurse at my ob's office a few days ago to fill out paperwork, she didn't send me for bloodwork or anything though and it was just a typical 'what to expect' thing. No scans. I meet with my ob on Monday (26th) and I'll be 7 weeks along. I was told though they usually don't do first appointments until at least 9 weeks in most cases but they were actually entirely booked for those weeks so I lucked out.

I was also told that I only get 2 ultrasounds during my entire pregnancy, and that's all they were ALLOWED to do. I'm not sure why. As far as I know I won't get my first ultrasound until 12 weeks when I get the down syndrome screen. Second one is at 20 weeks. Getting an ultrasound right away though, before 6 weeks, can be scary from what I've seen since you can't necessarily see anything until around 7-8 weeks.

I had my first appointment at 9 weeks, I didn't hear the heartbeat or anything as the midwife can't find it via a doppler that early on. It was literally just to fill in paperwork and book my first scan, which is next week when I will be 12+1 :)

It was a long, hard wait, but now I'm only a week away from my scan I feel so happy and glad that I waited this long. Just keep at it, before you know it you will be 12 weeks and having appointments all over the place!

my 1st was at 10 weeks. I have to get and ultrasound and blood by 13 weeks. ultrasound is wed. Going to try and do blood mon or tues.

Next one is at 14 weeks.

It's just crazy to me.

Maybe they do it different in Idaho (USA) - because a lot of girls my age are pregnant, or have already had babies (ones I went to school with).. and they all got in to have a blood test as soon as they had a positive HPT, and usually had their ultrasounds 1-2 weeks after.

And I could be way further along, which I explained to her.. but since I had a "period", I definitely couldn't have been pregnant before then (even though I know women PERSONALLY, who swore they had periods.. and few cycle later the found out they were like 12-16 weeks pregnant, like my mother had with me).

I had ALL the symptoms in July - was having to nap during the day, frequent urination, tons of vivid dreams, sore breasts.. I mean, I was 100% convinced until I had a period.. so I ruled it out. But since July, I've had the same symptoms.. they've just been getting milder.

But, my doctor doesn't understand and wouldn't even consider the possibility.

So I got recommended a new local doctor (from my cousin's ex-wife) - and hopefully I will be getting in sooner!

I had my second appt and had an ultrasound today, one day shy of 6 weeks, and I saw and heard the heartbeat! So exciting! I was under the care of a fertility specialist so I get frequent appointment early on.

Oh, I just set up an appointment with a new doctor and am getting in 1 week from now :)
