i wasnt intending to do it unitll shes`weaned is this right ?

Thats right... and at 6 months they can have diluted juice.

i give leila some whn i know she isnt hungry... only an oz or something..

Even when you start giving solids, they don't need water as they can just get a drink from you. But I found it easier to introduce other liquids (though she always asked for the boob first lol)

Yup thats right before 6mnths i was told water was a big NO NO, they have such small stomachs and they just need the calories and nutrients from your milk, otherwise they get full on water.

Once you start introducing solids give a little water or diluted juice after a meal, i was also told when i gave Amelia solids i should b/f her as usual first then give her some solids.

But what Marley said is also true, just the way i did it b/fing first she would be straight onto hind milk if i let her drink from me after.

i tried gving katie a bit the other day cos she was constipated, i'm weaning her tho! they really dont need it tho and she dont really like it either lol, its dead bland!

Breastfed babies don't need any fluids other than breastmilk, whether they're eating solids or not. Giving them other fluids will reduce the amount of milk you produce. The first half of a breastfeed is very watery and thirst quenching...effectively a drink, before the richer, thicker hindmilk.

Clever bodies eh????:happydance:

thanks all thought that was it a friend with baby same aged asked if i had started yet then said she wont like it if you dont do it soon but her baby is bottle fed

You can always give baby a tippy cup with a bit of cooled boiled water in to play with and get used to the cup itself for later on, they don't usually manage to drink out of it for ages but it will get baby familiar with it. Don't give bubs water in a bottle though as they really don't need it.

Jasmine doesnt get water and she is ff... She hasn't needed it. She had a bit of juice once after a banana incident... haha.

I find that Ellie gets constipated if i dont give her a drink after her meals. I was giving her a boob before dinner and a boob after now i give her a full breast feed dinner and i give her water or really diluted baby juice as shes eating as well.
