I generally ask when people want us and depends who it is, mummy friends often want to settle kids etc so don't want to arrive too early, also depends what time people finish work too. Generally a bit early, and always bring drinks, flowers etc.

turned up 20 minutes late, thankfully I made a slow cooked dinner.

Glad to hear it all worked out just fine. Way to be prepared for tardy in-laws haha

It depends who invited me. If it's a family thing I always ask if they want me to come early (maybe 2-3 hours) for some quality time, for people who are not best friends or I don't know very well its never more than 30 mins early. If we are gonna be late we always call too x
