Where were you when your waters broke?

My waters broke in my sleep, woke up in soaked sheets.. mine was brown as he had pooed inside me..

I will be putting puppy pads and matress protector on this week and will also do the same for the sofa...

I was in bed and woke up to find I was wet. I tried to stop it; thinking I was peeing myself and it wouldn't.

Just thought I'd ask this to the mums who has been there before. I'm curious to see where it all has taken place. I didn't think about them breaking while being in bed or anything as someone on another theard was talking about buying a mattress protector for their bed.

In hospital!! Mine had to be broken while I was already in labour. I was worried they'd go when I was out and about - but luckily not!

What do your waters look like? For those who 'drip', how do you distinguish between wee, discharge or waters?

Well, mine was not such a great situation as I confused waters with pee, and even though I was group B strep positive, my waters had leaked for several days without attention!!

Basically, it's nearly impossible to tell unless you get "right down there" and sniff! Amniotic fluid (in small drips) is just like nothing. Pee is pee! If you still aren't sure, you put on a maxi pad and after an hour or so you can bring it in and the hospital does a simple drip test that will tell them.

The MW told us at our appointment last week... If you think you are dripping fluid... Put on a panty liner and lay down for an hour.. Get up and if you feel a small gush that's the fluid. It will pool in the vagina when you are laying flat.

With Jace, I was induced a week early and mine broke as I was pushing. Lucky for Mark he was looking down there and moved his head JUST in time! I heard a POP and it flew an inch by Mark's head and landed on the curtain in front of me! I screamed "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?????" and Mark yelled "WHAT THE... THAT WAS CLOSE!!!"

My water broke when I was 6-7 cms dialated in the hospital bed.

Lol! i only have a towel in my bed i think i will add a waterproof mat and a thick blanket tonight after reading everyones experience.

I was mid contraction at home trying to lie down in bed during the pain, i felt a massive urge to pee.. mid contraction i must add!! Flew out of bed (NO idea how i managed it!!!) and as i sat on the loo they went, and went, and went lol i sat there for 20 mins!! xx

ds1 i was induced and they were broken for me. oh the contractions really hurt after that.

ds2 at 38+6 i had gotten off of work really late. went to bed about 2am. woke up about 330am to a small wet spot. thought i peed the bed. moved my exhusband to the couch to change the sheets and got in the bath. i must have known but not known i was about to have a baby because it seemed like a good idea to shave my legs. lol by the time i got out of the bath, i was in so much pain. came that quickly. had my little baby by 730am in my arms!! i am guessing my waters leaked in the bath and shower because i never noticed a big gush.

For the ladies who's waters broke in bed, did you feel embaressed with your partners being there? I keep telling my husband I'm very concerned them going in bed and soaking him too lol.

Mine broke just before 2am this morning.. I felt a pop and a small gush so ran to the bathroom.. had a bit more of a gush so sat on the loo for a bit... decided to wake OH and rang the hospital... they told me to come in to check to see if it really was my waters.. ended up pooling waters in the assessment room... now at home waiting for real labour to start...

Mine broke while I was in the hospital having my blood pressure etc checked because of preeclampsia. I was sat on a hospital bed hooked up to a CTG monitor with a room full of other ladies at various stages of their pregnancies and my waters just went, soaking the bed and the floor as I stood up. The other ladies faces were a picture! They looked utterly terrified bless them, some of them were only a few month along. x

With my first i was in labour pushing before they broke and they broke them for me, with my second I was eating my t in a restaurant and thought i'd wet myself after choking until i stood up and a gush!!!!

ds1 In hospital toilets as I stood up after the loo, gushed everywhere all over my new slippers. LOL!

ds2 in labour at 8cm, mw broke them and he was born 2 mins later.

dd her waters broke as her head came out, on the hospital bed!

I am yet to gush anywhere embarrassing like B&Q! But there's always a first lol!

I was in hospital waiting to be induced.. Had few contracations b4 that but fell asleep straight after them. Then i remember bein half asleep and WOOSH they just like fell out PMSL!
Pressed buzzer for MW and was liek errr my waters broke she helped me get out of wet clothes 41 mins later Theo was born!
