Where were you when your waters broke?

Mine went at 38+6, we had come home from our last antenatal class, had a kentucky and watched tv until about 11. I went to brush my teeth and my waters went when I was standing at the sink. They didn't gush, they leaked out like I was just standing up having a wee!! they continued to leak out slowly until contractions started a couple of hours later. x

I was sitting right in the spot I am sitting now on BnB! It was 6pm and I had a Big BH as I saw my DH walking in from work and felt a small pop. As I stood up to greet him and taslk about his day I just kept leaking as if I was peeing my pants!

Haha, glad I read this thread. I'm dreading them going in ASDA or somewhere equally as embarrassing!

Mine broke this morning on the bed! I went to the toilet, came back and sat on the bed and had a gush! Luckily I had mattress pad and towel on the bed (under the bottom sheet). The ones I bought were these: https://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Maternity-mats-5-pack_924022/ (only £3.99). Would definitely recommend as it meant we only had to wash the bottom sheet. Just waiting for the contractions to really get going now!!!

Amanda

Good luck xx

For the ladies who's waters broke in bed, did you feel embaressed with your partners being there? I keep telling my husband I'm very concerned them going in bed and soaking him too lol.

No, I was quite chuffed he got soaked actually! It was payback for all the times he used to fall asleep with a drink in his hand and soak me :haha: xx

Mine broke just before 2am this morning.. I felt a pop and a small gush so ran to the bathroom.. had a bit more of a gush so sat on the loo for a bit... decided to wake OH and rang the hospital... they told me to come in to check to see if it really was my waters.. ended up pooling waters in the assessment room... now at home waiting for real labour to start...

Good luck xx

I was the same, although i've got to the point now where I don't care
Just want baby out! :dohh:

Mine went at 39+6 whilst walking out of the hospital having just got the all-clear for GD but it was only a trickle and I wasn't quite sure.

Sat on a towel in the car on the way back and contacted midwife but she wasn't available.

Then that evening I got an unmistakable gush whilst standing up from the sofa...DH had to mop up!

I had to be induced then as contractions came but not quick enough. Had Aiden in my arms within 27 hours of them breaking properly.

Mine were broken for me when I was induced at 41+2 and Im so afraid of them breaking in bed this time, there was SOOOO much water, just like a previous poster said...like turning a 2L bottle of water upside down....guess I should look into getting a mattress protector

Haha I love the way you look at it :D

After reading all these posts I'm def getting a mattress protector!!

Absolutely great thread!!

And def sold on a maternity bed mat!

Just wondering were most people's waters clearish or did many have meconium in them? I've read you can't use the midwife-led unit at my hospital if your waters have meconium in them and I was wondering how common this is?

Oh, I have also heard that your waters rot the cloth of car seats....not sure how true it is though?

Mine had meconium but I had a post-term baby

ARM with first after contractions started in hospital where I was being induced.
At home well after labour pains had begun second time.

My waters were very pink. Not sure why but it would've stained anything light-coloured for sure.

Mine started clear but have turned pinkish... but I think thats because I did not get my show before they came.. well come... I'm still leaking...

so a good 12 hours after water first breaking and contractions have slowed right down... bah... just want baby don't want to be induced on Wednesday.

I just hope to God I won't be at work when my waters break. :S :S

in my hallway, taking the clean pillowcases into my bedroom!
