Who Hates Your Baby Name?

We still don't have a name but if we did we are not sharing, you can never please everyone.

My bloody mother hates every name I ever mention:wacko: It drives me up the wall but I told her I'll name my son whatever I like:thumbup:

We haven't chosen a name, I love Maddison for a girl, wanted to call my daughter that but our surname is Addison :-/ thought it would be too funny. I like lily for a girl but my dad said it reminded him of a tampon brand! We haven't got a lot of names on the cards yet, waiting to find out gender to try to make a decision. I love the name Noah, my brothers best friend named his son that. That's part of the problem, a lot of names I like have been used by close friends etc so don't want to feel like I'm copying anyone

Our girls name is grace and I knew my granny didn't like it when I told her, then my mum told me she was ranting about how she didn't like it at all and it was so old fashioned. Just wait until the baby is born and she'll be on cloud 9 lol. My papa on the other hand (her husband) is obsessed with it and convinced it's a girl! He always says to me so how's my amazing grace? I'm like what u gonna do if it's a boy lol!

We dont pick till after baby is born, but if we did i wouldnt tell any family at all i dont want comments.

My mum, and my sister made a joke about my boy name. I'd originally said I liked the name Andrew and my mum LOVED it but I wasn't totally convinced.. It just didn't seem "perfect". My husband and I both love the name Miles so we settled on that, and my mum rolled her eyes and kept going on about it sounded silly with our surname (it doesn't) and that it's "not as nice as Andrew".

I should have just kept it a secret until the baby's here. Lol!

We haven't shared our name choice and didn't with dd either, partly for this reason. Even still we got a few 'looks' over dd's name (Nancy) initially but no one said anything.

No one on my DHs side of the family liked my DSs name (Christian) even though he was named after my dad (Chris) and they didn't hold back letting us know even though we waited until he was born to announce the name.

With DD no body said they didn't like her name. She is named after my DHs grandma (Isabel) and this time we arent using a 'family name' so we are going to keep it quite until he is born. We haven't even told DS incase he tells x

I wanted Lara or Rose, most people said NO WAY to Rose but seemed to like Lara

So we've decided on Lara for the first name and Rose for the middle name

However now everyone thinks they are being really clever by asking if I named her after Tomb Raider...

I'm sticking with it because we both love it but no i'm not naming her after a busty video game character

My MIL seems to hate our name, but my parents both love it and everyone else we talk to seems to love it.

My parents were a little "wha?" with my DD name - Madison is not that common in the UK... but they never said anything to us - just my brothers. But they really liked the name Maddie and that's what we call her.

We NEVER say the name before LO arrives because someone always says / knows someone that creates a negative association :(. Our baby, our name, nuff said! xx

We had mixed reviews on my daughter's name and had people making alternative suggestions right up until I went in to labour! When we made her name announcement after she was born though, all the people who had previously said they didn't like the name now said they thought it suited her perfectly, I am sure just to be polite! lol

I love Madison "Maddie", it is a very popular name here in the US though.

My mil didn't like our girl name but my mom and gmom loved it. I'm pretty sure mil would had a different opinion if she knew her son picked it

My in-laws love the names we picked, but when I told my mom she was like "Oh... well there is still plenty of time to think about that and decide. Have you gone online and googled baby names?" LOL, wow. I'm not upset at all, I just thought it was funny. My husband and I had a laugh about it :). We thought FOREVER on our daughter's name, and ended up taking the whole pregnancy and then a week after she was born to choose something. This time we were prepared and have pretty much decided already. (though my husband is fickle, so we'll see, HA!)

My dad is so worried we will pick something odd lol So we are not telling anyone until he arrives, then they cant say anything anyway as he will already be here :)

I just know people won't like our little girl's name, so whenever they ask we just say we've got a list and haven't decided yet! It's one of those old lady names that you either love or hate, and the majority of our friends and family will probably be the type that hate it! (It's not like the type of name any of their kids have) I think once she's here and that's her name, they'd be less inclined to be negative about it......well hopefully! If they dare say anything I'll be saying something about their choice in names lol.

She'll be Elsie Alice Rose, and I think Elsie goes great with our little boy who's called Seth.
