why does my baby wake screeching in the night?

within an hour or two of going to sleep my son, who is nearly 8 months, will start screeching out. i dont think hes fully awake when he does it, i pick him up, rock him and he sighs and then goes back to sleep until he does it again. he does this anything up to 6 x a night.

i thought it could be his teeth/wind or even night terrors but he never does this when he co sleeps with me, only when hes in his cot. he also never did it when he was in his moses basket. hes been doing it for about 2 months now.

does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or what i can do to stop it? im absolutely shattered from 2 months of this. i dont want him to co sleep permanently and am worried he wont go in the cot atall if i dont break this soon

hmm not sure on this one! 6 times a night? u must be shattered!! my LO does it once about 2 hours after putting to bed! makes us jump out of our sleep lol....not sure really...they say dont eat cheese b4 bed cuz it gives u night mares lol xx

yep im exhausted!! someone else suggested night terrors but wouldnt make sense why he doesnt do it when hes in my bed, also he seems quite young to be having them as its been happening since he was 6 months so i dont know x
