I always feel so embarrassed buying HPTs in the supermarket, even though I have nothing to be embarrassed for. This afternoon my fears were realised. I only needed a few bits so had my toddler balanced on one arm and was trying to discretely hide the test (in its massive plastic security box) under my other items. First I bump into a girl I teach (am a secondary school teacher). Just praying that she didnt notice it. Then the woman on the till had to struggle for ages to remove the security box while I stood there convinced everyone was staring at me. When she finally released it, my toddler gave out an almighty cheer and started clapping! She then had the cheek to ask me whether I was hoping it would be positive or not!!!! I totally understand why they put the security boxes on those tests - I would be tempted to steal one just to spare myself the public humiliation of going through that again :(

Hi there! I have to say, I also felt really self consious buying tests at the stores around here. (Im in the US) Its like the people on the till look at you with a look that says should I say something or not? I just smiled when they rang it up and I think that answered their questions. Is it possible for you to buy some tests online and have them shipped to your house? Maybe that would help with the pressure of it all. Good luck to you! *HUGS*

I get that way at Sainsburys! I refuse to buy them from there actually. It doesn't help that despite being 21 I look about 15! No jokes, I got asked for ID a week ago when buying a certificate 15 film :( and the best part... I didn't have ID with me so I couldn't buy it! How utterly embarrassing. So pregnancy tests from there are a definite no no as they would think I was just "some knocked up teenager"!!

Thanks Ladies, glad it's not just me! I did order a bunch of Internet cheapie tests which were delivered to the house. I got a very feint positive on one this morning but wanted to check with a 'proper' test before I get my hopes too high. I want to test again tomorrow morning so couldn't wait for a delivery which is why I ended up in Tesco. If this turns out not to be our month then I am definitely going to order some online so I don't have to do this again. Xxx

I woulda felt the exact same way! The cheek of some people really does make the mind boggle O_o surely it's just common politeness not to say things like that to total strangers?? It goes to show though really how so many people go about their daily lives making snap judgements about people without thinking anything of it. Shame really :/

This is why i try choose a cashier that i dnt recognise as i live in a small town everyone kinda knows everyone here. My next batch of tests im gonna order online i think. I too look younger apparently im 28 but look 22 so im told. Even when i was 21 holding ds in the car hubby was asked if i was his daughter!! There is a 1yr age gap between us not 20 lol!

So from a woman judged all her adult life i feel ur pain! X

I can't believe how rude some people are. Like it's any of their business anyway! Hugs

Wow I had the exact same thing yesterday. Went to morrisons bought a test,,smuggled it in amongst the shopping, but the cashier stopped and said "so do you want it to be positive then" I was so shocked and just said well yes and then she proceeded to tell me she wanted more children years ago but her husband wouldn't let her - she was in her 50s!

My mum was in the same shop somewhere and I was trying to do it secretly. I nearly said to the woman there's a reason I hid it in amongst the spring greens so please stop talking about it! :dohh:

Me whenever I go to the store to buy something ttc related I just remember if they ask me anything to tell them it's none of their darn business. Cashiers aren't even supposed to ask you about your items, if they do they should be fired plain and simple lol. I used to be ashamed but after a while, I realized "you know what, this stuff is normal.. I don't have perfect reproductive organs like y'all so back off" and have been able to do it with a clear concious ever since. Cheers!T

To those whom have had cashiers say anything, I would complain to their supervisor. They have no right to put costumers on the spot.

Oh dear. I had to laugh at your toddler clapping and cheering though! :D

I get Tesco home delivery so I order my tests then- I live in the Highlands so EVERYONE knows you up here! xx
