Hi everyone,

Ive seen my consultant today who wants me to have medicated (injectable) IUI. Weve been trying for over 2 years now, with no pregnancies. Ive had all blood work done which are normal, HCG normal and my OH SA is borderline due to him missing the pot (19 million instead of 20 million).

Ive been told theres a waiting list of 4 months thats if i meet the criteria for funding so still feeling V stressed.

Ive been reading people stories about going for their IUIs and ultrasound scans etc, im just wondering what do you say at work? i dont want people to know im gonna have IUI especially work but im guessing ill need a lot of time off to keep going to appoinments, any sugestions?

What usually happens at the start of the IUI, do they scan you at the start of your period or give you medication to take first of all?

I have lots of questions now, typical that i wot be seeing a specialist now for 4+ months until i hopefully get the go ahead of funding.

Do you know the success rate for medicated IUI, ive been told im gonna have 3 and if that doesnt work ill be going for IVF.

Hi,

Where are you getting the funding for the injectables, if you don't mind me asking? I have done 3 IUIs with Clomid and it's time to move to injectables - but they are so expensive when you are paying out of pocket!

I don't think you have to worry too much about missing work. I think a lot of offices generally do monitoring in the early morning (before work would start). For me, the only time I ever had to miss work was for the initial consult and for the actual IUI.

Good luck!

Hello, I am currently doing injectables.
My excuse at work is that I have a doctor appointment, its that simple. Health issues are confidential.

You should go in for a cd 3 u/s and also get blood work to check your hormones. It just depends on what protocol your FS decides to use and how often you have to be monitor. I had 4 u/s this cycle because I was responding very slow, and then all of sudden my follies grew overnight. They should order the meds day 1 of your cycle, Or before. I go in for my IUI tomorrow.

My RE ordered my Meds and they got here the next day. Good Luck :dust:

As im in the UK the NHS pays for some of assisted conception, which would be 3 lots of medicated IUI, then if that doesnt work, ill have 2 lots of IVF after that ill need to pay out if things dont work out.

Im just wondering though, say IUI works, when i next want to become pregnant again will i still get funding from the NHS? has anyone been in that situation before?

Also Chiles how many IUIs have you had so far? have they all been medicated? and i hope you dont mind me asking but do you know whats causing your infertility?

This is my 1st IUI

And I have PCOS, and I am insulin resistant. I also don't get AF on my own. and of course I have not been ovulating so they are using ovulation induction to get it going :)
