My Jack does this and i always end up buying what he asks for, because he only ever asks for one thing and i think if he got up and was heartbroken about not getting the only thing he has asked for I would be scarred for life, never mind him!
Usually though its not because i was planning to get it for him for his birthday but he asks for things i wouldn't have picked or i think are rubbish/expensive.

aw im facing a similar dilema now..my daughter says everytime someone asks her what she would like from santa she says a dora computer..lol..she's not getting a dora computer!i bought all of her pressies before she even asked for one so thats what she's getting for her birthday instead!by the looks of your ticker your lo is around the same age as mine..and i can tell u that on christmas morning with all her other presents she is getting she will completely forget about the dora computer!lol..although that is significantly smaller than a bike.

lol im the same as u but i buy mikaylas pressies fairly early in the year(will have to stop that i think now she is actually asking for things!) and so far she also wanted a scooter..which we got..and then a my little pony..which we got..there is only so much we can get!lol..little kids change their minds so much!i like to be organised and always have their presents laybyed at the christmas sales in july and am dreading not being able to do that cos she will be asking for specific things probably as early as next year!!

i think she will be very happy with what she's got, but you could always buy the bike and save the tent until her birthday?

I would do what Tasha said, buy it and put it upstairs and if she doesn't ask where it is, don't give it to her until her birthday
