Woman facing death by stoning ..

Why is objecting going to cost this country money? Costs nothing to sign an online petition.
If we never objected to others peoples behaviour where would we be? (Lord of the flies) Women there have very few rights, they are not in best position to change things for themselves. As a woman I care about other women, whether on this island or further away

I think that because the trial was unfair there needs to be some intervention. But any other time, country's should be left to sort out their own problems

I would imagine most of these trials are pretty 'unjust' sadly

The Iranian Embassy in London today denied reports by media and human rights groups that a convicted adulterer would face death by stoning for her crime.

Would they admit it though? No country wants to let the world know that they are stoning a woman to death based on a trial of personal feelings instead of evidence.

Ya but it's not like the world wouldn't find out about it. Lying at this point wouldn't help their cause.
According to every new report she has been spared from stoning, luckily.

would you include wars in that???? after all neary all wars we have fought havent really been our wars..

Can I ask then - Do people here think that it was right for Nelson Mandela to spend so long in prison? What about Ghandi?

britain has had it's own amount of unfair trials but did you see other countries coming in telling us what we have done is wrong?

Some things should be left but IMO not crimes against humanity.
What if nobody stopped Hitler for instance? Sometimes things must be done.

I'm really astonished by the way this thread has gone. I don't really have the words to explain what I mean but thank you (Marley, Coccyx, a few others) for saying it better than me

How absolutely bloody ridiculous, and so what if she has .. i don't think it warrants the death penalty!

What is the world coming to!

Thats horrible, I can understand why people are interefering to have this stopped its inhumane, especially for adultery

We didn't stop hitler through the goodness of our hearts we did it because they were becoming a threat to us. I'm pretty sure we ignored all the horrible things he did until they invaded poland

But there's so many horrible things that go on in the world that we don't always know about, we can't step in everytime something like this happens. Im just thinking realistically; I mean realistically to be totally honest what is us saying we don't agree with the way they deal with things going to achieve? I totally get where you're all coming from though.

are some of you serious?? we are talking about the life of a PERSON! regardless of culture, religion etc, it is discusting the attitude some of you have as a PERSON yourself.. it is inhumane.. especially for something as small as adultery.. its not even a decent way of a death penalty. seriously, watever the cost, its not like each of u as an individual will even notice it.. these women do not have a voice for themselves. so y not step in??.. we do it for wars everyday!!!

True, being from the USA (a little bit of a different time-line) I know we went in after he declared war with us. 4 days after Pearl Harbor was bombed and after we declared war with Japan.

Disgusting race of people who think this is the right thing to do. I would help her if I could. I feel for any woman born into that terrible barbaric race of people whos laws and traditions actually make me sick. Woman are so oppressed there.

honestly, it would be wonderful to live in a world where everyone thought and lived their lives the same way as we do, but sadly they don't

I most certainly do NOT condone what is happening to this woman, all i am saying is we can't 'fix' all the problems in this world, it would be nice if we could be realistically we can't

I am sure in their eyes, we don't treat adultery strongly enough, at the end of the day, who are we to say which culture has it right and which as it wrong?

Where would we stop? there are millions of people around the world that don't have a voice and sadly enough we can't help them all, there has to be a line drawn

I am just trying to be realistic, I would love to go in there and stop this, but in reality we can't, I don't believe i am 'inhumane' or that i have a 'disgusting attitude' for thinking like that, just trying to look at the whole picture

I don't think it's the whole race though...It's more like just those who believe this is the "right way" in Iran.
I know people who are Iranian who would never be okay with this.

Thats why I said people who think thats right, not entire as I cant speak for all but from what I see most do. I seen woman stoned for being raped also.

:dohh: Urgh. I really don't how by trying to think realistically i'm being inhumane or disgusting. I've said it's dreadful, I feel sad that this sort of thing can happen in todays world but that doesn't change my opinion that I don't think us stepping in will change anything they do.
Im sorry if you dont agree with me but it doesn't make me a bad person!
