Working when pregnant :(

See, heartburn is something I haven't had yet so there's my silver lining :winkwink:

Bit longer to go for me than you - have just added a ticker as I had reached 5 posts to enable me to have a signature. Will be 18 weeks on Saturday. I have been wishing away time from the start as I have been so scared of losing my precious bubba (s/he is an IVF baby and I am doing this solo as it is what I have wanted more than anything for years). Felt my first kicks this week so am no utterly obsessed with feeling movements. Anomaly scan is week after next. Can't wait to find out if I am pink or blue - I really don't mind but I am desperate to know.

When do you plan to start your mat leave?

Oh Congratulations Minnie_me!! How exciting for you :)

I know what you mean about being obsessed with the movement, Poor OH has to put up with me getting over excited all the time and telling him where she is and how shes moving and how wonderful it is! hehehe! Can you feel from the outside yet? I couldn't till around this week- but when u do it's amazing :)

The anomally scan is brilliant, i'm sure you will love it! Baby has really become a little person by then :) I guess this is your first?

I plan to take my maternity leave in about 7 weeks time, as my job isn't very practical for a pregnant lady! :) xxx

Weirdly I can only feel from the outside - I mean I am sure I CAN feel from the inside but I don't know what I am trying to feel for and have had sooooooo much wind and bloating it is impossible to detect anything remotely subtle. My mum felt the first kick 2 nights ago. I am staying with them til the hyperemesis settles so most nights when I am lying in bed she comes up and we both stare at my tum and see where baby is. She put her hand on me and started smiling, said she was in no doubt that she had felt something, stuck my hand in the same place and I immediately got a prod too. Was so exciting and really cheered me up.

Must be so frustrating for your OH - has he now felt something? Bet he will love it when he can be part of that bit too.

Absolutely my first baby. I had begun to think it would never happen as I have had some major health probs so when I got my positive preg test on my first attempt I was stunned. :loopy:

What is your due date? Am guessing around early Jan?

Thank you so much everyone :)

Gotta love b n' b for cheering you up when you're feeling down!

Sarah&Ady: That sounds awful...hope you're feeling much better now you're not there? xx

OMG I feel so much better and my blood pressure has come way down too! I am totally skint but don't care, me and baby are relaxed! :) xxx

Ohh that's strange isn't it :)
Yeah he can feel her now, just this week she seems to have found her feet lol - she's got a good strong kick!! It took me a long time to recognise the inside wriggles too....for me it felt a lot like when your tummy rumbles because you're hungry :)

It's amazing how much that little wriggle or kick can cheer you up when you're having a bad day isn't it?
What an amazing time it must have been getting your positive test :) Mine was a bit of a surprise, but i've always wanted to be a mum, so it was a brilliant surprise!!!

I'm due 31st December...how about you? xxx

Sarah&Ady: That sounds nice :) Bet it's giving you lots of time to enjoy baby too :) Do you have long to go? xx

What a fabulous due date AND you won't have to feel guilty about not going out in the freezing cold to some overpriced NYE thing :haha: I am such a misery tee hee.

My little one is due on 12 Feb, waiting to see if my consultant will decide it has to be a CS in which case it is likely to be earlier or if I will be left to my own devices and have a mini cupid on Valentine's Day.

So pleased your OH has felt LO - I think it must be hard for them at times because they are sort of bystanders for a lot of the pg.

Right, lovely chatting to you. Am off to put my feet up for an hour and see if I can identify any rumbles. Catch you again soon - take care and don't be worrying about anything. xx

tink23: Thank you :) I do completely sympathise!....and I don't blame you for not wanting to go back. I was signed off for a week and found it really hard to go back! The nasty little comments and things really get to me to, and what I find worse is when the people who say those things, then try and pretend to be my best friend?!! :S lol
Do you have much longer before you can take your maternity leave? xxx

milamummy: Lol!! How brilliant...i'd love to be able to be at work with my pjs on!!! :) xx

nope not really, after this next week off I'll only have another 7 weeks to wait, can't come soon enough. I was going to stay in work as long as poss but I'm not sure if I'll be going back or not yet and since I hate the place anyway I've decided to take my maternity as soon as I can!! Can't wait, am counting down the days, even have it circled on my calendar!! Haha

Whitest I haven't had any time off yet, I really could use a week or two just to sleep..I am so tired.

I work in the motor industry which as you all may know is a male dominated world, some men are treating me like i have contracted a deadly illness and need to be looked after (which is great!) others are the 'get on with it' type. I have some women in the office i work with that are the same (well i say women, but sometimes it is debatable) Most are childless and don't understand why people are saying 'congratulations' to me as and i quote 'all you have done is lay on your back and got pregnant' charming eh?

I am finding it hard to cope with my fury whitest in the office though and my inability to remain calm at all times (i almost lost my temper that we have ran out of paper in the photo copier earlier - then almost immediately i wanted to cry about it) I am also speaking my mind which is going to get me into trouble before long. I was meant to think to myself 'If you look at me like that again young lady i will stick these scissors i am holding right up your ***' but actually said it out loud, not loud enough for me to be shipped off the H.R however but loud enough for my male boss to hear me and have a snigger!

I have counted to ten at least fifty times todays, I don't know where all this rage is coming from! So if i am not off ill soon i think i will be off permanently with my P45 in hand....! :dohh:

what a load of bell ends you work with k12B!!!

Awww hun thats awful that there treating you like that. Being pregnant can be tough as it is, especially trying to battle an infection too and then having to go back to silly cow's trying to make you feel worse is dreadful!

Ive had 5 days off work since pregnancy and I have to say my work have been fab so It must be awful to be made to feel guilty when its not something you can help!

You just look after number one and bump, ignore the bitches and count down the days till your outta there :hugs:

I actually should have been off far more than I have been as my sugars were not behaving and I was going severely hypoglycaemic at work and could not work properly for me. Unfortunately I work generally alone (the other person in the practice is not there when I am) so there was no one to cover for me. I have now taken a week off and I did take one day off when I got a stomach bug. I only work halfdays mostly though so it was also not so bad.

Sorry you are having a rough time - remember that no matter what they say or think, your job is to look after you and your baby and it seems you are doing the best job of that by taking off - so good for you! Hope you feel better soon.
