Would you give your under 5 a fizzy drink?

Aidan has had sips of fizzy drink but never a whole one to himself x

no but DS has had some when iv forgotten to put my coke out of reach and he nicks it!

if he was thirsty and it was the only thing i had to hand i would let him have a bit but not any other time.

he normally drinks orange juice, squash or milk x

Emma has. I always said I wouldnt but hey ho.............things change. When we go out for lunch she can have fizzy if she wants, which she does, but she will only drink like 50ml of it before saying its too fizzy. But she is crazy for dilluting juice unfortunately........, although we have weeks when all she wants to drink is water or milk.

I do get looks from folk some times, but its hardly like I am giving my child a narcotic. Last year we got stuck in the snow and I only had pepsi...the woman next to me looked at emma drinking it and shook her head, so I gave her the bird.

I always thought I would ban sweets and fizzy, but OH told me about a guy at his school who was never allowed sweets....when he was old enough to go buy them himself thats what he would buy and eat for lunch at school........just like mars bars and cola and general crap.....as he felt he had to make up for not being allowed anything.

Yes. She prefers water though really. Weird child

Never. My girls only have milk and water, if other kids are having juice river drinks a bit but she doesn't like it.

My niece has coke and she's only 2, I don't let her have it in my house though.

not a whole drink to himself no, a little sip now and again sure but I don't have them myself that often anyway - he only drinks water and milk at home

I certainly don't plan to. He's still only 2 but the thought of giving him fizzy anytime soon makes me cringe. I've learned never to say never though. I always plan ahead and have a snack and drink for him whenever we leave the house etc, but if I ever got caught out and for some crazy reason fizzy was the only drink on offer AND he needed to drink then I would do it. I'd rather he have fizzy drink than dehydrate a little... But honestly cant really imagine how I wouldn't ever be able to get water when I can get fizzy... Xx

My son is another drink thief, Honestly you put a drink down in my house and he is usually 3 paces behind me ready to steal it,My son has had an odd sip here or there but I wouldn't offer a fizzy drink as his "main"drink if that makes sense,His only experiences with fizzy pop is through one's he's managed to pilfer from me.

No way! I mean, what is the point? She does have some of my fizzy water sometimes though, weirdly she can't get enough of it.

Yep mine have had it, albeit rarely as very much as a treat

No, but we also don't drink soft drinks. I don't like the taste. Omar had a sip from my dad once, but he wasn't impressed. He doesn't even like juices. He only drinks water & milk.

When he was one, I was trying to to wean him off the bottle, when I was telling my friend that he refuses to drink from a sippy, she told me to try 7 up in a sippy, & she told me that he daughter (5months older than Omar) loves 7up.

Many of my friends toddlers (below 5) drink dizzy drinks. I don't judge but I wouldn't give it to my son.

I prob would tbh. Not regularly obv but as a 'treat' if we're out for a meal etc but Amelie doesnt like fizzy.

tbh i couldn't ever imagine giving alfie a can of coke. i wouldn't be really judgey of someone who would though iether

xx

No way would I. LO normally has fruit juice or water to drink.

My 6 and 4 year old have fizzy as a treat, if we go to maccy d's mainly which isn't very often. They will have fanta or sprite. I don't like them to have coke though.

It's just a fizzy drink, they're not giving their kid acid

Nope. I've tried my two with juice too but they won't drink it so I don't even buy it any longer really. They drink water and occasionally a bit of milk but they won't drink that. I'm a hypocrite really because hubby and I drink loads of pepsi max but I wouldn't give it to the kids.

my LO was curious of fizzy drink so we let him have a sip of ours but then he wouldnt drink his drink (juice) and was always asking for ours so now we dont drink fizzy in front of him as not fair to start saying no when we were the ones who allowed a sip in the first place. He dont even get a sip any more as it just leads to him wanting it all the time and its definetly not something i want him drinking often so now he wont have any til hes much older

 exactly! I must admit my 2 have had fizzy drinks (7 and 3) they don't have it often though and drink mainly water or milk at home. If we do go out for a meal or even to Maccy D's they chose what they drink (I don't allow coke :haha:) usually they go for apple juice or a milkshake though but I wouldn't say no to fizzy, it won't kill them :winkwink:
