Would you give your under 5 a fizzy drink?

im completely addicted to diet pepsi

so no lyss cant have any, caffiene isnt good for her heart at all. and i dont want her having the level of sugar in fizzy drinks.
she drinks milk and water x

No but that's because she hates fizzy drinks. She had a drink of coke once and it came down her nose when she laughed and she doesn't like fizzy drinks now

What's aspartame?? I only ever drink diet... Not often but when I have pop its diet.

No. My friends has tricked her little boy he think coke is fizzy water x

Yes, I gave my child fizzy drinks after the age of three before that it was just sips. But it was always watered down. Both of my kids get pop once a day as a treat after supper. Most of the time its the crush pop. But they would rather sometimes drink juice.

I give my son fizzy pop and he's 4 and he's been having it since he was 3 almost 4 but it's rare and usually only if we go out for dinner or to macdonald's which doesn't happen very often. We rarely have it in the house. Mostly he drinks juice. I see it as something I wouldn't give a toddler but once they hit 3/4 I don't think it's terrible so long as it's not all the time x

No. But i have never ever had a fizzy drink either and i personally dont see a need for things like that.

She has milk and water.

No, I don't see the need at the moment. She has only ever tasted water, milk and watered down juice. I probably would give her the occasional fizzy drink when she is 4/5, but will cross that bridge as and when it comes along.

Yes I would. My children have an extremely healthy diet consisting of organic, ethically farmed wholefoods cooked from scratch and almost zero sugar. Usually they drink water or milk. But we allow them to eat anything in the house, so if we occasionally buy fizzy drinks (never with artificial sweeteners) then they are allowed some. I don't want to make anything seem like a forbidden fruit, I'd rather they learnt that some things are okay in moderation.

My Lo has a small glass of lemonade when we go to my parents house. Ive never let her have fizzy drinks at home or days out though.

My 11 yr old likes coke but he's never had a full can he's had one of those tiny cans I had a bad addiction to diet coke currently been off it a month now and don't plan on ever buying fizzy stuff in the house again

Well Molly drinks fizzy water or fizzy squash but I waited until she was 2 before offering it. She doesn't have it often if I'm honest but she's also had the odd sip of cloudy lemonade and Elderflower presse, she doesn't react to either so I have no issue with her having a cm of the stuff in a cup as a treat. I grew up with water only so am not partial to a fizzy drink to be honest anyway and we don't have them in the house so the temptation isn't there.

We where never allowed fizz as kids as it sent my sister hyper. When I moved in my own house I only ever buy fizz for me now,
Jess is a drink thief too and seems to grab a glass as soon as its unattended.
I do let him have it sometimes, but only with a meal. He's just started to drink milk again at the moment after not touching it for 2 yrs, do I try and give him that or weak juice as much as I can. We've been on holiday this week and he's had coke with his tea a couple of times or a milkshake. He doesn't eat much sweets or sugary things though and we brush his teeth twice a day so I'm not too bothered about it.
I don't want him to be like me and never have it and then be obsessed when he finally does get some!

And when I give him some at home with food I mean he gets a couple of inches in a cup not a full glass worth x

Not at this age, but maybe starting school I may feel differently then, but I know people who give their children fizzy pop, and (mil gave my lo coke IN HIS BOTTLE ONCE) he doesn't have anything but milk in his bottle I was LIVID!

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener - it's in lots of stuff. There is a lot of divided opinions on it, but I am definitely in 'camp bad'

If you do a google, lots of sites come up listing some of the adverse reactions.

i have never offered fizzy drinks to lo, but if they asked i wouldnt stop them, the oldest 2 5 and 10 dont like fizzy drinks, not sure if this is because its never been offered or they just dont like the taste. I have noticed that fizzy drinks are made more available than other drinks. Theme parks with the allday refils only offer fizzy drinks usually.

Both of mine usually have a little cup with their pizza on a friday, Sid is 3 and Sophie is 5 x

Nope. E will only drink water or milk. She doesn't even like diluting juice. Neither OH or I drink fizzy either and we just tell her it is a grown up drink and leave it at that. I won;t be rushing to give her any tbh.

No because.

1. Evelyn doesn't need any more ammo to be a massive handful.
2. I drink a ridiculous amount of coke. Felt ill when i cut it out and end up brushing my teeth constantly.
3. Its not good for her little body, she doesn't need it or miss it so why bother?

That said. I raise no judgement on those that do :flower:
