16 Weeks and Out Of Breath Already!

I definitely notice this when I exercise - I go at a slow crawl and am puffing like I just did a 100m sprint!

It just gets worse though lol! At the end with my son I couldn't even stand for long periods without getting tired! :haha:

I had it too from early on, taking Spatone helps me actually - it's more easily absorbed iron, tablets just don't touch my borderline iron levels. After a few days of taking a sachet every day maybe twice then i'm feeling more energetic. I dont' remember being so out of puff at this early stage last time, only the last couple of months, but it's a bigger baby and my uterus has expanded faster (no so elastic this time!). Also, your heart and lungs grow by 30-50% in preg so your O2 needs and the organs that need to supply it all take a bit of adjustment.

I'm so glad you posted this as I was feeling a little bit worried.

I've been feeling really short of breath for a few weeks now. Just like I can't get enough air into my lungs and I have to keep taking really deep breaths. Even when I'm laying on my side with my top arm accross my chest, I feel like my lungs are squished and I can't breath properly, its horrible and makes me feel really panicked (which I know is the worst thing you can do). I'm really scared about it getting worse and worse for the next few months as I find it quite fightening.

I too thought this would only happen towards the end when the baby was a lot bigger.

Iv had it since first tri. I read that basically as ur body is working so hard pumping all the extra blood around, ur basically hyperventilating for most of the pregnancy, which sounds scary, but is totally normal.

I was running 10k at least 4/5 times a week before i got pregnant, so i dont think it has anything to do with fitness. Its not a nice feeling though when it gets bad xx

oooh yea, me too, hard work isnt it, so out of breath, sometimes i dont relise untill i see my partner looking at me out of the corner fo my eye, then he will laugh saying he cant hear the tv coz i sound like darth vader haha

So glad that all of you are feeling this early on, too! Well I mean I'm not glad because I know how uncomfortable it is....but it's nice to see that it's a common thing. I seriously never expected this to happen until I was at least in 3rd tri. Thanks for your responses girls....made me feel a little better about it. :flower:
