hey i hope i'm posting this is in the right section.

we're hoping to actively ttc next month and these past couple of cycles i've been using OPKs to see what my body is up to. my most recent period was 9/7 and usually have a 28 day cycle. last cycle i had my lh surge around CD13.
this cycle has been weird, i had a lh surge (two strong lines) on 9/18 and had Mittelschmerz (i had to google that to check spelling! lol) and EWCM that night. i kept testing about 2-3 times a day after that and there was always a faint line that never disappeared (as it always had other cycles, as we were also trying last year i'm only sort of familiar with how this works!) fast forward to 9/22 i had a strong positive OPK both morning and night, 9/23 2 strong lines again AM and PM, and 9/24 2 strong positive lines on OPK. on the 9/23 i had what i believe to be Mittelschmerz again with EWCM.
i'm guessing on sunday/monday i didn't end up ovulating so my body tried again around thurs/fri maybe? but why still the strong positive opk on saturday morning?

now as if i haven't confused you enough by now, when i used my last opk this morning i also used a cheap internet hcg test with the same urine (used a cup, sorry tmi!) and within 1 minute i had a faint positive. faint but defiantly there. so i used another hcg test of a different cheap brand and negative as i had expected.

this evening just to make sure i tested again with two different cheap brands and negative. i am aware of the ttw and it's impossible to get a bfp this soon (assuming ov on sunday/monday) but it really was very strange with the faint pos hcg as it showed within a minute. i'm going to pass it off as some kind of a false result. fyi i'm not taking any meds either that might influence a positive test.

maybe there is a good explanation or would you see this as a sign to see a doctor to check if ovulation is really occurring?

You might have just gotten an evap with the hpt. However, if it were me, I would keep testing with OPKs. If they get lighter than I think you are ovulating now. If they stay dark, try another HPT in a few days and hopefully you will get a second line. Positive OPKs several days in a row could also indicate PCOS but I wouldnt worry yourself with that since you usually ovulate in the middle of your cycle and have a 28 day cycle.

Either way, good luck. Hope you get your :bfp: soon. :)

Also,

I have had SEVERAL surges the last four months all resulting in no ovulation. So your body can most definitely gear up but fails. I think my poor body is trying really hard but just cant quite make it.

i would keep testing with opks only that i used my last one this morning :dohh:
i'm going to order some more now ...

do you know that your surging but not ovulating through charting your temperature? or through other means? i tried charting last year when ttc and i was completely hopeless at doing so, but i'm going to give it another go when af arrives and see what happens!

around last june i had a routine check inside with an ultrasound to see if there were any issues with me and i had the all clear. i know nothing about pcos and i wonder how quickly things can change from then?

wishing you all the best ... hope your journey ttc is a short one xo

If your scan showed no PCOS then seriously I would not even worry about it.

I know I was surging and not ovulating because I have been using OPKs for four months. I have gotten several positive OPKs and havent had a period in that entire time. I have had my progesterone checked several times and it is always like .4-.5 so I know I am not ovulating.

Its alright, I just stopped taking provera a few days ago and I am gonna start clomid once my period starts. I am really excited!

.... and i feel excited for you!
lets hope af doesn't arrive and that clomid can collect dust in your cupboard xo

i've been reading through some threads and surely some of these women can qualify to be fertility specialists with all this knowledge they have! so i just don't have a clue about progesterone levels but not having a period for that long bought on suspicions for you? i know this doesn't apply to me so please don't feel as though i'm being nosey, it's not my intention at all. the body just amazes me in ways that it works.

Well yeah.. my dr said all the bc should have been out of my body by now and that it is really weird that I havent ovulated yet on my own. I mean, you dont have a period if you dont ovulate (unless your cycle is anovulatory) but my body just isnt doing anything besides spotting every so often, which is a sign of low progesterone. I think my progesterone levels are bad since they are so low pre-ovulation but since Clomid helps with progesterone I am hoping that my levels will shoot up after using it. I dont have any post ovulation to compare anything to though since all my tests came back no ovulation!

Dont worry about being too nosy especially on this website! Lol. I poke people for answers all the time and most women are 100% willing to share their entire stories and experiences.

Women on here are very knowledgeable and I expect you will be too before too long. Lol. I researched the crap out of everything and while I obviously dont know everything about it since I am simply a google researcher, lol, if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask!

But like seriously, if you ovulate on cd13 and you have a 28 day cycle then you have like a textbook cycle. I would kill to have it! lol. Just flat out forget I said PCOS as what you are explaining your cycle to be like is complete opposite of PCOS. lol. I think your body just tried and failed and tried again.

I wont be using OPKs or my CBFM until january (which I really hope I wont get to january without being pregnant) lol. I am just gonna take my clomid, use conceive plus, and softcups and take it easy. If this doesnt work, then I am gonna use my monitor. I have a feeling I will get my :bfp: before christmas though. Positive thinking!!

Hi hun.

I have had 7 positive OPKs with digis and ebay cheapies on 7 different days.

I spoke to an ex colleague about it today who is a consultant in fertility.

He said my body was probably trying to ovulate but just wasnt getting there!

excuse my ignorance here ... from what i understand is that if your not ovulating then you won't get a period. if you do ovulate then your period will come?

TryinFor1 - my periods haven't been coming like clockwork since they used too. i just say a 28 cycle cause it's always around that time, given my last 4 cycles i've had a 23 day, and 34 day cycle so their not exactly spot on, almost every time has been different i was just rounding it up lol. sounds like you have a good combo of clomid, soft cups and conceive plus! hopefully that'll do the trick for a bfp! :)

tu123 - what is your plan of action now?

now in terms of taking clomid i believe this assists with ovulation so would someone like me be a candidate for using it even if my period shows? (i'm not talking any time soon but just curious if the time ever came)

i probably just had an off month this cycle and we shall see what next one brings!

touching an opk and a hpt together can make your hpt turn positive, Maybe its the same if you use the opk and then the hpt in the same urine?

hi itsy.bitsy - i never knew that! i wonder what makes it happen? i did test that at seperate times but yes in the same urine. could have been a strange urine? lol who knows

I also got 2 surges this cycle...they were cd13 and cd16...I guess I caught the beginning and end?....even though my bbt temps have yet to confirm it.

It sounds like your body tried to ov, but failed and tried again. If you want to be sure that you have ovulated after your pos opk, temping will tell you :flower: xx

hun looking at your previous charts it doesn't look like you ovulate at all? Are you temping correctly and doing it every morning at the same time? Maybe go see a doctor to make sure everything's okay, which I'm sure it is! Lots and lots of sticky baby dust :hugs: xx

is FF the best website to use for charting still?
and you do start temping from CD1?

stinas keep us updated on what happens :hugs:, taylorxx it's good to have people like you to point out these things incase we've missed it ourselves

Yes fertilityfriend is the by far the best imo.

Some women use TCOYF, but from the charts I've seen it is not accurate at all and is hard to read. I've seen a ton of charts from them that put ovulation the day of the temp rise, when you ovulate the day BEFORE your temp rise. It's best to start temping at CD1, but not necessary. Just try to start as soon as you finish AF so you can catch ov xx

I've given up for this mth and will do temps along with OPKs next mth and start on day 1. Obviously the temp peaks POST ovulation so i will use that as confirmation alongside the OPKs:thumbup:

If you dont ovulate you could get a period still. They are called anovulatory cycles. They are WRONG if they are happening every cycle but if it is just one or two out of the year that is normal.

As far as clomid for you, I dont know. I have heard that some women take it to delay ovulation even who ovulate regularly. i dont know if your DR would be willing to put you on it though.

hey everyone, i'm really stumped and needing some help here!!

just an update i'm about 11 dpo. as i mentioned earlier i guessed i had 2 lh surges this month and when the +oPKs i had the typical o pains and ewcm.
my last opk test was last saturday morning and it was still positive, that night i ordered some more and they have arrived this morning. it's now PM and i did another OPK just for fun, well i can't say it's a blaring positive (i know the 2nd line has to be dark or darker for +) but this line is pretty much there..... not faint at all. so i did a pregnancy test to rule out this +opk and of course, bfn.

so...... what could be going on? i haven't experience any o pain or any other signs since my second test, the word luteal phase comes to mind even though i know absolutely nothing about it! from what i know so far and correct me if i'm totally off mark here - but after O then progesterone sets in? and i wonder if this has anything to do with anything this cycle?

as you can tell from what i'm saying, i have no idea whats going on and this is the first i've ever seen my opks like this.

what are your thoughts?

Sometimes you get a surge about 7 days after you ovulate.. which you'd be 6dpo right now going by your last pos opk. I'd test again in a few days to make sure. If you get AF (which hope you don't) I really recommend you chart bbt seeing as you get multiple lh surges xx
