my wedding party is on the evening of 20th December though so that could be an interesting night.

Like Midnight_fairy has said, the Mayans never predicted the end of the world, they predicted a change because of their beliefs in a cyclical new age where after a cycle ends a new one begins rather than come to a complete stop.
