My names Sophie and I have been trying to have a baby for 5years :(
I'm so desperate to be a mum and start my own little family.

Im tierd of waiting, my Dr has finally refferd me for IVF and I don't even know how long i am going to be waiting, Does anybody know the wating times?

Also I don't drink I don't smoke I don't take drugs so why can I not get pregnant yet those addicted to heroine and booze can concieve no problem.

I'm heartbroken to learn that at 21 I can never have my own family without the help of IVF.
Please has anybody got any words of wisdom I'm feeling so low and useless :(

You have been trying since you were 16? I have never heard of anyone being referred for IVF at 21. Your body is still growing and changing for heaven's sake... It commonly takes one year for healthy couples to conceive.

I agree... do you know what your specific fertility problem is? Have you had any kind of fertility testing done? Seems a little drastic to jump to IVF at 21 years old. That being said, I understand you want a family and am not saying you are too young, but I think there are other alternatives to IVF that you should try first. Have you had other treatments?

I hate to worry you but most nhs authorities do not authorise ivf until you hit 30. If you look at the website for your pct primary care trust it should have their guidelines and waiting lists. It's also normally a fertility specialist that makes the federal not a gp, are you sure he didn't refer you for other tests? Good luck in your baby dreams :)

I am 21 and have been TTC 3 yearsish :). My DH to be is 24 and we are currently having tests imdue for a HSG next month (though AF is 3 days late so hoping for a :bfp: :)).

I know exactly how horrible it is to think you may never have children so young. We stopped using protection and decided what would happen would happen, only 2 years later did we decide to go for tests (and the docs would even see us).

We have had our tests mostly clear except for a little cyst on my ovary :( But we are hopeful and taking things slowly we know one day it will happen for us i wish you luck with the IVF and know how hard this is to go through at a young age it is heartbreaking

Hoping everything goes well for you and you get a :bfp:!!
:dust:

IVF definitely sounds drastic to me at your age. TTC when in your teens can lead to disappointment because your body is still changing and get used to your menstrual cycle. I would suggest seeing a different doctor and getting other opinions.

Have you had tests? Have you taken any medications or had IUI or anything else done? IVF can also be very very expensive. I'm not saying you aren't financially stable, but I know I wasn't at 21. I had just graduated from college! I really suggest taking some time before going that route and see another doctor.

I agree with everyone else. What is the specific medical issue that would make you need IVF to get pregnant at age 21? And why have you been TTC since you were 17?

Just asking, not judging.

Hello
i came across your comment when looking up ivf at 21.
in charlie im 21 almost 22 and my husband and i have been trying for baby i understand how devastating it is when your young and conceive is hard
i have cyst on my ovaries and my husband has low sperm count which is making things difficult and we been told we may need to take other options into account.

i recently thought we had connived when i was late when due on but came on a week late and was heart braking and people always have an opinion when they dont understand how you feel and the need to become a mother at any age i dont want to upset or anger anyone by my comment.

all the best with ivf if you take that path or any you choose and goodluck.
:hugs:
