In my opinion, being strapped down, having an episiotomy (why the hell did they do that anyways??? She was stretching and progressing so nicely and would have likely delivered intact) and being objectified as just a vagina rather than a woman is certainly not my idea of a nice and beautiful birth video......

I didn't notice she was strapped down.. I think they were just wanting to focus exactly on the how the baby makes his/her way out of mom by turning and such.

I think she would have torn, her vaginal opening was quite small. The episiotomy was very neatly done though.

I don't think she was being objectified...the video is meant for medical purposes and the whole point of the video is to watch the woman give birth. So zooming in on 'the action' was necessary. Would have been harder to see if the camera have the whole of her in!

When i first pressed play i thought 'holy shit ' and nearly stopped it. However, by the time i saw the baby i was grinning like an idiot, so i guess when i finally do have to do that It'll be pretty amazing. Xxx

Arghhh I am have been wanting LO out at 37 weeks but now he can stay in there until 40 if it pleases him. Especially seens as though his head was nearly 2 cm bigger than the average at 20 weeks. I was just wanting for her to tear. Glad you could not hear any screaming.

Enjoyed the placenta bit always wanted to see one. Told my mum to get them to show me mine after giving birth.

I showed this vid to OH as he was asking today if baby comes out head or feet first . And he studied medical stuffs! Both found it fascinating and he's decided that unless I super duper need him up top as baby's making his appearance, then he'd like to watch him coming out. My rational head has said yes of course and warned him that if I turn into a fire breathing dragon, I reserve the right to rescind this agreement!

Well everybody has seen a baby but I wanted to see a placenta. My mum keeps joking that DH will have some on his toast. I bet it taste just like beef casserole or something. Maybe chicken!!!

Haha I saw a come dine with me and she had her placenta in the freezer. She decided the best time to tell her guests was whilst they were eating pate haha

OH made it thru about 1 min of the movie then high taled it into the other room whining....oh boy this is going to be interesting

with our first DH said he wasn't going to be in the room, but I cried and he thought its the least he could do, he's very squeamish and he ended up watching the whole thing and cutting the umbilical cord...I was so proud of him. He's up and ready for our next baby's delivery
