ok, ive watched it all the way thru now and it wasnt actually so bad! the voiceover reminds me of Saw though!
In my opinion, being strapped down, having an episiotomy (why the hell did they do that anyways??? She was stretching and progressing so nicely and would have likely delivered intact) and being objectified as just a vagina rather than a woman is certainly not my idea of a nice and beautiful birth video......

I see what you mean but I don't think this video objectives anyone. I felt this was brilliant to see a close up of what happens as most birth videos are further away. This allowed you to see the contractions and pushing the baby down and out of the mother, in much more detail than you would get from a video showing the mothers face, midwives, birth partner etc in the shot. I felt it was educational to anyone who doesn't know how for example a baby comes out, or is frightened about the possible eventuality of an episitomy. Although I do agree in this instance it seemed unneccessary. x
thought it was really interesting, but really hoping that if they have to put stitches in they give a local first as that looked really painful!

i think maybe it was necassary, i wish they had done this in my case, i had a 4th degree tear which would have been prevented if she had cut me. this time i have to have a csec i feel a bit pissed off really.

I agree with KandyKinz on this one i think. It was interesting to watch but certainly not a beautiful birth video, I love watching births so i enjoyed it anyway!
Also, i had an episiotomy but also ended up with a 3rd degree tear (verging on 4th) and i have to have a section this time too - i feel your pain Donna . I always think that with KandyKinz being a trained midwife (correct me if i'm wrong) i'm guessing she's got more of an idea about this stuff than me so i'll believe her if she says the woman was stretching well! x

I start my training next september - far too excited! It is my dream job and i can't wait to work my bum off to get there!
Congrats! To be a midwife???? I may or maynot go back to my training next september... it depends on what life with baby is like and where I can get my final placement.
