50 Shades of Grey

Is anyone else reading this/ has read this book? It's really popular over here in the states. I gotta say, I had heard it was a bit intense, but it's slightly over the top sexually for such a popular book.. it's basically just porn in words lol but it's well written and the story line is pretty good. Has anyone read the other 2 books of the series? How were they?

Haven't read it, but did read about it in the Sunday paper magazine a couple of weeks ago. Apparently it's going to be the next big thing over here too

It's a good book.. I just find it odd that a book about BDSM is so popular! It's very very graphic.

I just got my copy two days ago, I'm only four pages in. I can't get over how annoying the main character is, I feel like Stewie Griffin wrote it. Damn this and damn that lol. I've read part of the fan fiction it started from "Master of the Universe" and it seemed okay, but she says Oh My so much I want to take a sharpie and cross it out every time just so its easier to read! HOWEVER I am, as mentioned, only four pages into the actual book. Please tell me it gets so good I can't put it down... That's what I was looking for in 50 Shades but I've never been so stuck in any book so early on haha.

I'm reading it at the mo and I didn't know it was erotica.when I read the back I thought it would b a twilight kind of book.once the sex started happening I looked it up thinking bliney this is alot more graphic than I'm used too lol I started yesterday and now I'm half way through and I gotta say CANNOT wait for dh to get in xx

I guess it really depends on what your into. I'm into bdsm and I find it slightly disturbing and uncomfortable to read at times, but there is a love story beneath it all and that I find intriguing.

I really loved the book called loose girl. Its a memoir of the author, basically sex addict.

I have heard the name, but I totally forgot that it was created from the original, "Master of the Universe." I actually read that in it's entirety when it was still on fanfiction.net, and I was just reading this website:

which makes a comparison between MOTU and the book, and it's almost exactly the same.

SO, I thought that MOTU was entertaining... but it does get repetative. I got really into it while reading it and I guess I would recommend it to others. Although OT, I think it's pretty awesome that a fanfiction writer is doing so well by turning it into original fiction!

have you gone up to the part where she receives the contract he gives her? I think the things in the contract made me squirm a bit.. it's just weird lol and I'm not a prude at all, just not into dominant/submission type of things.. but as I get farther into the book I get more and more hooked on their relationship (although, I'd never personally do what they do when they start messing around in his "playroom")

I'm definitely hooked on the love story and can see grey being really lovely deep down (I hope) but yeah I got past the contract part,I can definitely see why it would b a hard read or some.ive never been into anything like that but could always understand why some would so maybe thats why it didn't phase me at all.....plus I was kinda ticking things off on the soft list xx
