80's fancy dress ideas

Ive got an 80's fancy dress party on NYE and apart from madonna, am struggling with ideas. I want something original, not just crimped hair, leg warmers and crop tops.. Anyone have any good ideas?

well it's not very original but.... Wonder Woman.

How about going as Miss Pac Man (or whatever she was called).

A rubik's cube (need a big box and some paint for this).

I did think about wonder woman! But then thought I may be risking looking like someone else who had the same idea, but then again, I suppose I'm risking that anyway! Rubiks cube is a good idea but how would I sit down?! Lol

How about 80's secretary. Big shoulder pads, colour block suit. Like Melanie Griffiths in Working girl or Dolly in 9 to five.

That must've been a hoot And cringey too. I was a 1990 baby, but I would have loved to have seen that haha.

I used to wear yellow plastic hoop earings with bright yellow and green eyeshadow with back brushed hair and pixie boots (the first time they where in fashion).

Although that might have just been me being a bit weird

Basicly you want anything with big hair, big shoulder pads, bright makeup loads of plastic bright jelwery especialy bangles anying neon and even better face painting.

Classic people to look at for idea, maddona, adam ant, cyndi louper, kate bush, dallas
although I realy like the idea of going as rainbow bright thats cool

I was also thinking Cyndi Lauper too...as well as Toyah Wilcox maybe...I do the idea of Cyndi Lauper though...thanks!

The thing is, most of the 80`s fashion is in today in some way...(back combed hair, shoulder pads, colour block brights, pixie shoe boots etc... so none of it will look that 80`s really, and thats what I think Im struggling with.

I also like the look of Madonna in her like a virgin video so may go with that..cross earrings, white corset tutu dress, white lace gloves
