Advice needed for matb1 and due date! Please read!

Hi everyone,

I have been told that I have missed out on maternity pay from my company by one week! I am gutted as they offer more than just statutory and i would have got my 6 weeks pay at 90%!

I am currently due on 15th December but my due date needs to change to 21st or later in order for me to qualify for maternity pay from my company! Do you think that the sonographer would change the date at my 20 week scan on Monday if it hasn't changed itself, or is that asking her to do something really bad ie. forge an official document?

Also, this is the really naughty bit! If I changed the date myself, what are the chances of hr at my company ringing the hospital to double check the dates? HR here are aware that there are only a few days in it and they know that I know that too! Hope this all makes sense and I hope someone can help!

I missed out on maternity pay with DS, as they changed the maternity bill and rights in the budget the year DS was born and I too missed out by a week... Nothing could be done and we managed...

The expression I think is tough, deal with it, life isn't suppose to be easy. If it was easy I guess they'd have handed manuals out when we were born... I know's it probably not what you want to hear... Good Luck either way, you'll manage...

That's really mean of them. Would it look obvious now if you changed your dates? They wouldn't phone I don't think so you could try it but they could make you pay back the money if they found out. Good luck though.

sorry but i really doubt the sonographer would change the date-they could get in to lots of trouble (unless ur dates were wrong from LMP or 12 week scan).

r ur dates 100% right? im due on 24th sept but at the 12 week scan they put baby at 4 days older, then when i went at 20 weeks they changed it back-could this be true at all 4 u?

u would still b able to claim maternity allowance (which is all i get as im self employed)

Does your mat b 1 already have the date on it? Have you already submitted your mat b 1? I was lead to believe the community midwives who provided the forms were pretty generous about dates ect (especially only a week) It may be worth asking your community midwife for a new one or date change. I dont think the sonographer would change it unless your dates are genuinely different. I definitely wouldnt recommend changing it yourself - I work in HR and I would be very suspicious. I know the company I work for would consider it gross misconduct and consider dismissal in a situation like that for falsly claiming pay you're not entitled to. Sorry.

hi again I was just thinking the other alternative may if you had lost your matb1 and asked for another from your midwife and ask her if she could put the 21st on instead? It would be no skin of her nose. I agree with pootle33 though about changing the form yourself because if they ever found out or got suspisious you could get into some strife.

I missed out on mine by just under 2 weeks too and it was quite a substantial loss, 6 months full pay. I instead will be getting maternity allowance.
I would say you have no chance of the sonographer changing the date and it could be dangerous if they did as the edd affects the decisions made relating to the care of you and your baby.
I think you will just have to suck it up, I know it totally sucks. I would not fraud your mat form you could get into a lot of trouble.
