All these riots everywhere!!!

I think maybe keep it in perspective.. its just a car. Aslong as you are safe thats all that really matters.

Water cannons are powerful, they arent supposed to be used in this country but I think they should be.

All London cells are full now. They are sending all those arrested around the country!

As for your car being torched, surely you have insurance
?

Depends on the quaity of your cover. Many dont include 'civil unrest'

I may have to check my paper work ...!!

And the main cause of concern would be how would I get to work ... and to Coventry at the weekend without it? And I'm due the baby in Oct, I can't not have a car :(

I only just got it and haven't even paid it off and I would probably get no where near what I paid for it ... the value goes down straight away ... the car place I got it form tried to get me to buy this thing where you will always get the price you paid for it but I didn't have the money to take it up :dohh:

We all are in the same boat, we need our cars. Is there nowhere you can put it? Work is not important if your safety is at risk I wouldnt even attempt to go in.

It's park in the car park behind our apartment but that hasn't seemed to stop people burning others :(

OH rang me on his way to work and said "I've just seen ten cars all burnt out shit the gates" (The gates don't lock ... they're just gates) and my car is on full show from the street because of where my allocated space is.

I wouldn't be as concerned if I didn't live on this street, I'm not even from Liverpool. God I wona go home :(

Its worrying but I am sure something will be put in place tonight. Im hoping anyway. Keep safe hun. Where are you from?

My OH is a firefighter and he is on stand by to go up to LONDON if it all kicks off tonight.... he could be stuck up there for days (if there is enough police force to protect them) its his last night shift tonight before he has two weeks off as we are getting married on Friday!!!!

I really hope he doesnt get called up there!!!

Smelly, I really hope he doesn't get called up. What a nightmare for you all.:hugs:

Insurance companies are notorious for using ANY loophole to save them from paying out. Martin Lewis has an article on his website which should give some peace of mind regarding homes and contents. It seems to be that the three he has checked so far will pay out.

The jist of it seems to be,
Help for riot victims.
1. Home insurance - i've checked three buildings policies all do cover riot, civil disturbance and political unrest buildings damage.
2. If property damaged/unsafe & no insurance, job centre 0% CRISIS loans are not just for benefits recipients.

People are very critical of the police but it is worth remembering that they have been criticised time and time again for being heavy handed. The police themselves most certainly did not choose to put themselves in a position whereby they had so very little real power to quell events like this.

I'm from Coventry, apprently there's stuff going on there too .... but I'm on the outside from a quiet little town.

44 police were injured last night 4 seriously, they had 20,000 calls last night, buildings were just left to burn cos they didnt have enough firefighters, we can blame the police, the firefighters or paramedics. The government needs to come up with something good to end this now.

Now more people are out of work because they've torched businesses :nope:

I'm watching the news and I feel like crying. What kind of world have I brought my son into?

They can't send in the army, there would start to be deaths. Best left to the police who know how to handle rioters

But do they ? There's so much about people's 'rights' these days that everyone's too scared to act! I'm totally disgusted to live in this country right now, and I'm really scared for the first time about what kind of place my baby girl is growing up in!

 I agree. They arent coping with it at all, they dont know how to handle them. All I see last night was them getting away with what they wanted to

But the army aren't going to know/do any better. They don't get trained in riot control. All we'd be doing would be to introduce guns into the equation. The last thing I want would be something like bloody sunday happening again.

I feel the same, I'm almost glad my baby isn't born yet and can just stay safe inside me for now :hugs:

And your above post ^^ it's so sad .. people could of worked their whole lives to get a stable little business running for themselves and some selfish aholes come and ruin it up in smoke :nope:

I'm not leaving my house and I'm stocking up on Evian, aptamil and tinned food!!!

Jesus

Peoplea rights on everythin thesr days country need to come down hard, they go on about peoples rights, what about our rights? Innocent mothers with small children scared whats going to happen next, and all they care about are these thiefing scumbags that have no care in the world just on about there rights! Watercannons look good hose um down !

Police have no control just not enough to control them

Also I'd like all these stupid feral people to get shot. Bring in the army and water canons. I hope riot police beat the living daylights out of anyone doing this. I have no sympathy for them.

0757: West Yorkshire Police say there were "small pockets of disorder" in the Chapeltown area of Leeds last night after a shooting. A 34-year-old man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries.

(BBC website)

Yeah I think they're getting confused because they've related it to an incident last week where someone was shot in the same area in the foot. Unfortunately seems to be pretty standard Leeds behaviour.

Am I the only one thinking that this is a result of a generation of lazy parents? We all know the kind of kids who've been doing this. The ones that hang around the local shops and yell at old women or ask you to buy fags for them. The ones that smash up a bus-stop for fun.

Why aren't they taught that this is wrong, why are the parents allowing this behaviour to continue?

This is council estate mentality suddenly shown to it's true extent!

AGREE!! Liam is going to have very strict parents. I'd do more than drag him to the police station if I found out he ws ever involved in anything like this!

I heard on sky news that they don't want to bring in the army because it will look like we can't control our own country...THEY ARE OUR BLOODY ARMY SO WE WILL BE CONTROLLING OUR OWN COUNTRY!!

We obviously can't control our own country!!! I think the police are doing a fantastic job, but with their resources there's only so much they can do. The army don't have to get guns or whatever involved, but they have big vehicles and even just getting their presence in the city known. I think people have a lot more respect for the Army than the police force, rightly or wrongly.

Also now that other areas are getting threats of violence, other police forces wont be wanting to send their people out to help incase anything happens in their own town. We had a load of helicopters go over last night and as far as I'm aware nothing has really happened here, but someone obviously thinks its only a matter of time!

I just can't understand how so many of the kids are so young, where are their parents in all of this? I was watching the news this morning & a lady said her shop was done in at 11pm by a huge group of kids aged between 14 & 17. Aside from any kind of suspicion your child might be committing violent crime, you would just want them home to know they're safe wouldn't you?

Sorry I know a lot of people wont agree but I think a lot more need to be controlling their kids. Disgraceful.

If it comes to a case of shooting them all then I say do it. Children or not, they're destroying peoples lives. Maybe guns would be enough to get them to back off.

I hope they have a plan in place for today. I think we all know its going to kick off again today, but where? This is awful.

I think people would just start shooting back. Guns are not difficult to come by in certain circles.
