I'm speaking with my dad who is a retired police officer in California and the first thing he said was "fire hoses and non-lethal would take care of that".

I heard it's travelling southwards earlier, with Thames Valley police confirming copycat violence last night in Oxford & Reading, apparently Guildford has also been hit. I hope it doesn't get as far as Southampton or Portsmouth, I can imagine West Quay, Gunwharf & Commercial Road would all be hit pretty bad if it got this far!

Just watched boris Johnson, it just seem to be that the pms a running around like headless chickens! He couldn't answer any questions and then one guys shouting listen to the black youth... Why, should we listen to any one Iif they behave like that.

All benefits should be withdrawn from any person or family seen joining the riots, in payment for damage and good stolen and given to the shop keepers and people who have lost their homes.

The 26 yr old who was shot in the riots has died.. I wonder how many more will by the end of this,

I'm in Gosport so on the one hand, it's a small town so theoretically we should be okay.. But Gosport is a very disadvantaged area, if the chavs at the end of the road caught on that they might get a free iPad, our wheelie bins will probably end up on fire along with the co-op, kebbaby and all the way down to the high street! I'm pretty worried, I hope nothing's being planned.

Afternoon ladies. Just been catching up since last night - the thread was growing faster than I could read!

Hope everyone in or around problem areas are ok. I was scared last night cause of my uncle and his family live in London somewhere near Croydon. Luckily though he phoned my grandpa last night and everyone's ok. I was soooo relieved to hear that from my dad this morning.
