All these riots everywhere!!!

just woken up! London wasnt hit bad at all last night!!!! im really suprised as we were warned away from our home by a high target area and i even saw like 200 rioters outside my flats at one point, must of just been 'passing through' though i dont know if anything got smashed/attacked as i left the area soon after they arrived. My thoughts are with those in mancestor, birmingham, liverpool and glocestor xx

yeh cos they had 16000 police to reckon with instead of the 6000 in previous nights!

oh dear..

i am well and truly shitting that it's going to move nearer to me, im in gloucestershire but a few miles away from gloucester!

If they did put a curfew in place I doubt it'd make much of a difference. If you don't care about smashing shops up and setting things alight, which is also very illegal, why would you give a damn about a curfew? These people obviously aren't afraid to break the law and apparently don't care about getting arrested

actually ive just seen it kicked off in Thamesmead, think they set a house on fire :(

Well IMO its to keep the innocent people off the streets so that theres less people around & the police can do their jobs more effectively ?

Yes but i beleive all the police in london is the reason it kicked off everywhere else :dohh:

No, but it'll help the police distinguish who is eing naughty and who is just standing there taking pics. Also will stop people getting hurt and robbed on the street.

But like it's been said before, people may need to be out. I don't see it working, even "innocent" people don't follow everything the law says and I can guarantee people would still go out curfew or not.

Wonder what Dave is gonna say when he comes out of todays COBRA meeting!! Supposed to be soon!

Ditto the posts about the royal family, they're just for show.

I'm heading in to Manchester shortly with the kids. Hoping things are ok at the uni which is just down the road from Piccadilly Gardens where it started off last night. Haven't seen much detail about what happened in Manchester.

So sorry for lives lost in Birmingham. :(

I agree the army should've been brought in for all this. As far as I'm concerned civil unrest and natural disaster should be the primary role of the army.

I really hope the uni's are ok :(

Plus a curfew couldnt be done late at night, trouble starts at around 5-7pm so how are you going to get everyone inside at 10pm when the rioting would of already begun.

1034: Ben Geoghegan Political correspondent, BBC News In response to Boris Johnson's comments on police numbers, the Home Office released the following statement: "The urgent need to take action to address our budget deficit is clear from events across the world right now. The reductions in the police budget for the Spending Review period are manageable. There is no question that the police will still have the resources to do their important work. At the end of this Spending Review period, the police will still have enough officers to deploy in the kind of numbers we've seen in the past couple of days."

HOW the actual feck will they??? They didn't exactly have enough this time so how can they after cuts :dohh:

Even if 50% of people are off the roads, it'll make a huge difference.

Has this country ever had a curfew in place before?

It would have to be pretty extreme circumstances to warrent one I would have thought, wouldn't it?
I just don't think the government would put one in place for this anyway imo!
x

what type of curfew would they put in place? as in what ages would it affect or would it just be EVERYONE.
