Hi ladies it is my first bbt month (on cd2 of 2nd bbt cycle) of now 6mnths ttc. This month I have only had 9 days of Lutheal phase, ie my af arrived on 10dpo. As I understand it I need a pattern to show this as a problem to my doctor (which I will do). I just wondered if anyone had this problem either definately or potentially? If u do I was hoping for some advice or possible remedies to this? I do understand I need to go to the doctor but I need a couple of cycles to prove a pattern so in the meantime was hoping for support which u all do so well  thanks everyone :flower:

Hello,

I have a 20-30 day cycle and O around cd 18-20 giving me an LP of 10 days. Initially I was quite anxious about this but after doing some research there are a few things you can use to extend your LP. The most obvious one is Vitamin B6. Lots of ladies find this really successful, some saying it can extend LP by several days which is really encouraging.

I started it this month, around cd6 as I was still researching it and was undecided, and I O'd on cd 16! Not sure if this is a coincidence but there it is. If my LP stays at 10 days, then AF will arrive in 2 days time, but if she arrives closer to the end of the week than I will be very happy (even happier if she doesn't come at all)

If this doesn't work, progesterone cream is supposed to be fab, but it depends where in the world you are as to how easy it is to come by! If like myself you are in the UK, it will need to be prescribed by a GP.

If you google short LP, or LP defect, vitamin B6, lots and lots of info will come up. Also if you go to the search bar on this site and type it in, posts about it from the last few years will come up and you will get the benefit of other ladies' experience. Also check out other TTC sites where ther is an abundance of info!

It seems to be quite a common issue, and one that in many instances can be sorted out quite easily with VB6. Have a read around the issues and see its for you. If it is start low at 50mg, and increase it as necessary as some people have found too high a dose can make their LP too long! (not above 200mg though).

I will let you know how I get on towards the end of the week.

Good luck!

Thanks Cleo that's really helpful. As I already take a pre-preg supp will an extra vit b6 be harmful? I'll check the dosage of pre preg sups. I did read that u can take clomid (obv after consulting with a doc). I too am in uk and will go to see doc if it continues through this cycle and next. Please do let me know how u get on - thank u! :flower:

I take the Pregnacare Conception vitamins which have 10 mg of B6, and an extra 50mg on top so well within the safe range. There is conflicting advice about how high to go, some say that as it is water soluable any excess will come out in your urine, but I have heard that anything above 200mg should be supervised by your GP as it can cause problems, but then again I have heard people say their doc's have recommended they take 300mg but those ladies have had very short LP's, like 6 days.

For me, I would consider taking an extra 50mg but that would be the max - just in case.

Many people say you should really take a B complex as the B vitamins need to be balanced for better absorbsion, but I have heard that B12 is the one you really don't want too much of.

At the end of the day, its a very useful vitamin and well worth a try, before considering any fertility drugs. I have also heard that Soy Isoflavnones, Vitex, EPO and Royal Jelly can help, but I tend to get so loopy about researching everything I may well be on cycle 50 before I get to try them all out!

Or I could just chill a bit................

Good luck!

This is my 2nd cycle taking B complex 100, and it increased my LP from 9 to 11 days on the first cycle. It also stopped pre and post spotting around AF and made it lighter and shorter!
Just wanted to let you know that taking B complex is the best choice as taking just B6 can make you deficient in other B vits. I started out with the B 100 dose and haven't had any side effects at all besides neon yellow pee, lol. From what I have read, anything below 200mg is safe to take and what your body does not need, you will pee out anyhow, so good luck!!

Thanks ladies that's really helpful! I am cd4 today so hopefully might have an effect this month....!

Hello,

Just an update as promised!

As I already said, I ovulated a good few days early this month after starting Vitamin B6. I can't comment on whether it has extended my LP as I had a BFP today!

I would say that it defo worked for me.

Good luck all!

Congrats! How many dpo are you?

Thankyou,

I am 12 dpo, but didn't believe the test result yesterday so did two more today. I am sure its the B6, as my LP has never been more than 10 days, just wish I tried it sooner!

Many congratulations Cleo! Oh it's game on with the vitamin b now!! I know this sounds odd but I am still getting slight cramps or an odd 'full' feeling down there.... No doubt it is purely psychological but hopefully that is vit b preparing... Lol yep officially gone mad! Happy 9 months Hun!

I had completely forgotten the neon yellow pee until I looked down this morning and had a shock!! I hope it's the vit b otherwise I need a doctor stat!!
