Hi Girls,:flower: up until the last few weeks I was still able to sleep on my back as this was the way I prefer to sleep normally, but since bump has got bigger I am sleeping on both my left and right sides, only problem is it gets sooo painful on my hips, they feel like they are burning and I have to swap sides every half hour, then about every ten minutes by early morning. They are still aching now actually and am wondering if this is just me? Is it worth mentioning to the midwife? as I doubt they can do anything can they?? Is really disrupting my sleep!:growlmad: x

I've found that sleeping with a pillow between my legs helps. Make sure it's all the way from your bits to your feet, though. I use a body pillow.

The only issue I have now with sleeping on my side is I get pins and needles on the hip/thigh that I'm sleeping on, and have to flip over 4-5 times during the night.

Im exactly the same. I dont think the dr's can do anything. I switch sides every 1/2 hour - every hour and by the time 5am ish comes Im basically in too much pain to sleep. It hurts from my hips all the way down to my ankles :( Do you sleep with a pillow between your knees? I find this helps a little, at least in the first part of the night. Wish I could be more help, but you are not alone, I've been like this for weeks now :(

Exactly the same for me, I am SO uncomfortable in bed now, it means I don't sleep well and I am normally one of those people who can sleep anywhere, really well for inordinate amounts of time, now I can barely lie in past 7am because I am so achey by then it hurts too much to stay in bed!

Aww, kind of glad it's not just me then! it really is a nuisance isn't it!!?

I don't put a pillow between my knees, as hubby now has a seperate cover I can position the duvet so it wraps under my bump and between my knees, but maybe a pillow would give more support? worth a try! x

I've been like this for weeks now, i mentioned it to my midwife, when it first started about 11wks ago (that looks so depressing) and she said it's hormones, I do have goos nights and bad nights so don't know if maybe i've just got used to it.

But I start off on one side, then when it gets painful turn over, keep that going for a while, then what I do is prop myself up with lots of pillows so i'm almost in a slouched arm chair posistion and sleep sitting up, it gets me a couple of hours and then eventually my hips have had a long enough rest that I can start alternating them again xx

I'm not in pain as such when I sleep on my sides but if I lay on my right side I squash Lewis's bum and back so then he pushes out which is painful and if I lay on my left his feet are there and he just likes to kick me all night long so either side I just can't get comfy at all. I was tossing and turning last night and barely slept a wink because I was so uncomfy! x

I too had this, I invested in one of those feeding cushions from Argos, think it was about 20 quid. I put part under my bump and the other part between my legs. It makes a complete difference.

yeppers.. this is me every night... he likes me to lay on my left side the best.. but my hips KILL when i do that.. laying on my right side he can almost vibrate the dang bed with his kicking... ive tried the pillow between the legs.. helps for a while... my pelvis is really starting to hurt now too... its kinda like getting old.. hehehe

When I sleep on my left side it seems to bring on my heartburn, and when I sleep on my right In wake after a few hours with hip ache. I sleep with a pillow between my knees which helps a bit

I'm the same. Loads of pelvic pain at night and it makes me get out of bed in the morning coz it's too painful to lay down any more. I told the midwife about it and her response was just kinda 'you're pregnant, what do you expect?'. Hey ho...

I sleep on both sides I find the right more comfy, but I turn at least every hour at night as my hips ache I've tried the pillow between the knees it helps a little but I end up throwing it away as I get to hot lol xx

you can sleep on your back, just not flat on your back, if you use two pillows its considered propped up so its fine, my physio told me this as I was really paranoid about sleeping on my back even though I get a lot of pain sleeping on my side. :flower:

Yeah, I have tried positioning the duvet behind one side so I can lay down on my ass but my belly is slightly propped upright but for some reason it seems to cause a pulling feeling like my belly is trying to go to the side so I haven't quite mastered it.:dohh:

Also, I have a breast feeding pillow that I bought at the weekend and I read on the box that you can use it to sleep with but just didn't fancy getting it out lol! duh!.....it's coming out tonight!!!! x

I hope the pregnancy pillow is any help :flower: keep us updated! if it works I might go out and get one, anything to get rid of the pain

Will do Vaniilla. Hoping for a good nights sleep tonight! x

I found the thicker pillow I used between my knees the better.

I am finding sleeping horrendous now and it's gotten steadily worse. I have a maternity pillow and tried sleeping on my left cos that's what I told was best but my hips give me loads of pain after a short time so I spend all night turning left, right then if I'm really desperate my back but that in itself is really uncomfortable.

Only 4 days hopefully now till induction!! X
