Anyone sucessfully rebuilt their credit file?

Thanks have had a read through that. No we have lived here since 2006. We don't always pay late but have had a couple of episodes this year, i had previously got my info from the moneysaving expert website. We already have a mortgage (with HSBC at a good rate-no payments ever missed), i was simply wondering how long it would take to repair my credit rating making every payment on time to be able to apply for another mortgage to move house.

You could probably quite easily get another mortgage now, (defaults do not necessarily mean you cant get a mortgage/credit, just not the best current market rates.) or you could even port your existing one. If you were looking for a brand new one, however, you may not get the greatest of rates for a few years. (This could also be dependent on the size of your deposit.) Another option is to chat with an IFA, as they would have access to all sorts of products on the market.

I always thought the catalogue type things look bad on your credit file because it looks 'desperate', I'd be more tempted to have a credit card, use it for groceries and pay it off every month? Don't know if that is good though lol, all I know is the more I use my credit card (it's always paid off end of the month) the bigger my limit gets lol.
