Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

KatO: Congrats on the house! I've been lurking on your house progress. It's such an exciting way to start the year. I think its great that you guys don't need to use an agent, I think agents are pretty useless in general especially where I am. We still have to do most of the research. The house that we bought, we found it ourselves by going to open houses and talked to the seller agent directly. Was so much easier.

Thanks :) Yeah we're also very happy that we got the house. Have told his parents since they were with us when we went to see the house for a 2nd time and think they were happy as they also liked the house a lot. I also think it's kinda fun to look through houses over the internet. Otherwise here you'd need to go to a couple of realtors to see all the available houses and that just sounds like a pain:nope:

AFM I've already started spotting so AF will be here tomorrow or maybe the day after, depends a bit although I'm mostly leaning towards tomorrow. So surprised as DH calculated AF would come around the 8th. If she comes tomorrow she's coming 2 days earlier than normal. We'll see, if I'm bleeding red tomorrow morning I can call the hospital and schedule my 1st scan and get this ball rolling:happydance:

So called the hospital and I'm going in for my baseline scan tomorrow at 8 AM. FXed there are no cysts and everything looks good!

The secretary was kinda annoying today since she didn't at first get why I was calling and told her I got AF (how does everyone else say it over the phone?), then she first heard me wrong with my social security number and then took a long time to find my journal but I think unfortunately all journals are on paper and they have no computer system:wacko:

So I was walking out the door at 6:25am to go to work and my car was iced over. I started it and went back in to wait for it to warm up. 5 minutes later I get an email (glad I checked my email or I wouldn't have seen this!) that school was on a 2 hour delay. I was VERY CONFUSED because there's nothing about it on school website, facebook, twitter, or the news site. I text my VP and he calls me back because he's already driving to work and says he just got the alert himself and has no idea why we are getting this alert. I figure I'll hang out a few minutes and wait for confirmation. 10 minutes later, get an alert from the news station that sends out alerts. 5 minutes after that I get the school auto dial. Yeah... if I hadn't had to come in and wait for the car to defrost I would have been to work already (I only live about 10 minutes away). Glad I waited! But probably a fourth or more of our teachers were already at work, with quite a few others already driving in. Really annoying.

Umm I dunno how I would say it over the phone. I guess I would say my period started. Or my menstrual cycle started. lol. I haven't had to deal with that yet.

So crazy, good thing you waited! If it had been me and I'd reached work to find out I could just go home again I'd not be in the best of moods:haha:

That's also what I said but she seemed confused as to what I meant with it:nope: Think I'll have to ask the RE what the secretaries are expecting us to say when we call about AF starting and wanting to schedule for the 1st scan. Never had this issue at the clinic I went to for my IUIs:nope:

Kat-- Oh my goodness, congrats on the house! Maybe you'll be sporting a little bump by the time you move in. ;-) I tried the Advanced CB monitors way back for a few months and I got the darn blinking smiley for like 11 days in a row and just gave up. I'll probably give them a shot again and see if they work better for me.

Angel-- So annoying for the teachers who were already at work. Nice that you were "saved" by the ice and got to enjoy a couple extra hours.

Psycho-- Thanks for the welcome!

XOkitty-- Exactly! It's like the whole last part of the cycle feels absolutely pointless. I just want to get it over and re-set!

Spotting here, still small cramps. But no full AF yet. So annoying. This one is really dragging out. Plus I have a killer cold that is making me cranky all around. Wish I could just be off of work and spend the rest of the week in bed!

A lot of teachers were annoyed but they got a couple hours of work done at least.

So today is 8Dpo. My cm is still kind of creamy but instead f the white it's tinted a tan/brownish color. My LP is only 10 days so I think AF is on Her way. Could possibly be IB but I'm not getting my hopes up. :(

Physcochick I'm like a bloodhound (pun intended) but the metallic smell went away and hasn't come back which is good because I was thinking af was coming even earlier! Ahh.

Kati would have just said my period started. Sometimes phone operaters are he nicest people in the world and other times, the most awful! Hope you got everything squared away. I'll be keeping you on my thoughts...I REALLY want this to be your bfp!

angel something like that happened to me last year when I was going to class. I never checked and the weather wasn't getting really bad until I was on my way. It's almsost a 30 minute drive so when I got there I just had to go in and wait. Luckily a few teachers and some other students showed up that didn't get the delay either so I wasn't alone. Good thing you went back in though!

MissDoc oh boy a cold on top of PMS. That's the worst :( feel better! I'll be starting soon too so at least we can be cycle buddies.

I'm dead today. My energy is at ground zero. Plus I have a headache and I have had a little sore throat and stuffy last two days so I also think I may be getting a cold. I just want my period to start so I will feel better.

Here's hoping:winkwink:

Was it this one, because I'm thinking of this one: https://uk.clearblue.com/clearblue-ovulation-test-range/clearblue-fertility-monitor

Maybe the cold is delaying things? Hope you soon feel better!

FXed it's IB:flower:

That's exactly what I said but it was like she didn't understand why I was telling her that:nope: Thanks, it'd be so great for it to happen now:flower:

Sorry you're feeling so bad, been there and it's awful:nope: I hope it soon blows over!

FX for you!!!

I started spotting with some light cramps so not only is AF on her way, looks like she's coming early. After everything I did to lengthen my luteal phase just even a little, and it's shorter!!
Sorry for whining I'm just feeling really down today.

Aww kitty, I can understand you're upset:hugs: Is there anything else you could try?

AFM just got back from the RE and I'll be on 300 IU Bemfola for the next week (start tonight) and go in again on the 13th for my next scan. From the 12th I start also injecting Cetrotide to prevent early O. She could already see 6-7 follies I think so here's hoping we get a couple of more as well. Definitely hoping we get more than 3 this time!

Well I had some red when I checked cervix yesterday evening and my CP is low and firm. So I think AF is definitely on her way. :( I'm so frustrated. This month we had such good timing! Ugh!!

Kitty - I'm sorry. I can understand just how frustrating that would be!! Having a shirt LP and then AF coming early is difficult. :hugs:

Kat - sounds promising! FX

So sorry Angel:hugs: I hope you get your BFP next cycle, FXed :dust:

Thanks:flower:

Angel Thanks for the  it is frustrating but I'm not giving up yet. Sorry about af, I know how that feels especially with the great timing!
Fresh start this cycle for both of us.

Kat sounds promising! Keep us posted :) e
There is a few other things I can try. This cycle trying soy isoflavones as a lot of women with cycles similar to mine have used it with great success having earlier and/or stronger O. There are so many stories of women using it after ttc for months or years and with the 1st or 2d cycle of SI they fall pg. it gives me hope. So I just a joined the SI cycle buddies thread and I'm starting tomorrow!

xokitty: I also know a girl who got it 2nd cycle on soy after 16 cycles. She swears it's the soy. She's in second tri now so she's been talking to me about soy too. I'm not sure about it since my O and LP times are normal, but I'm curious to see how you do on soy too :)

Angel: Sorry about the AF showing up, kind of sucks that your LP is so short, but at the same time, get to proceed to next cycle sooner rather than later. I kind of wish my body would just tell me if the egg was even fertilized and if not, then just move on already.

MissDoc: you have a cold too? condolences :( I am recovering from mine and I was so happy that I was able to taste food after being unable to taste or smell anything -_-. Hope you get past it soon too.

KatO: Your story about talking to the nurse on the phone about menses reminds me of the times when I've had to talk about my bowel movements when I was younger, and didn't understand why they called it bowel movement. So when the nurse on the phone asked me when my last bowel movement was, I was like erm, you mean when I last pooped? Lol kind of cringey thinking back.

Sure will although until the 13th not much will be happening:winkwink: Took my first Bemfola shot tonight and I think they changed the pens because it was easy to get it all out where previously I would really have to push down hard to get the last 1/3-1/4 out:wacko: The packaging is also changed and easier to open which is also nice. I'll let you know how my very 1st Cetrotide injection goes on the 12th as it's more complicated :haha:

Oh I've heard of women trying that. Here's hoping it works for you! I found a couple of articles with other suggestions if you're interested:

https://natural-fertility-info.com/luteal-phase-defect.html

https://nicolejardim.com/lengthen-your-luteal-phase/

BTW one of the articles mentions giving any changes 3-6 cycles to see if it really helps or not.

psychochick: lol :haha:

Hey there, ladies! I'm wondering if you could give me your opinion on something?

I had AF a few days ago, but it was lighter than usual, lasted barely two days and didn't end with the several days of spotting I normally get. My temps stayed up over my cover line until yesterday.

This morning, I woke up feeling absolutely ravenous. So hungry that my stomach actually physically hurt and I felt like it was going to make me sick.

When I got up to make breakfast, I had the sniffles and thought it was due to allergies... but when I got a tissue it was a full-on bloody nose, and I've NEVER had one like that! The kind where you have to pinch your nostrils shut and tilt your head to make it stop?

I'm wondering if that short AF wasn't just a "fake" AF and if I'm actually pregnant? I POAS a couple of days ago because the high temps made me suspicious, but I got a BFN. Haven't tested since. My OB/GYN will not do a blood preg test unless a urine test comes back positive first, so since that hasn't happened I'm a little bit stuck.

Do any of you experience that sort of crazy, over-the-top level of hunger at the beginning of your cycles? I'm somewhat confused and a little nervous over all this. It's probably nothing, BUT my middle sister had regular periods the whole time she was pregnant with her youngest son and didn't even know she was pregnant until about the 9th month! So it might be something that runs in my family. lol

And the nosebleed thing! Out of nowhere! It's all so strange.

Your thoughts/feedback are appreciated!

ireadyermind: I do get it during TWW a lot. And knowing it's due to my hormones, I usually try my best not to give into it. I've never gotten it at the beginning of a cycle, but at the same time, that could happen for other reasons like exercise or if my diet in the past few days have been a little too healthy. Why don't you POAS :D

I don't think I'm much help ireadyermind as I've never experienced any of that. Maybe you could try an HPT every few days and see? I have heard of women that first got BFPs much later than normal although I think it's pretty rare. So yeah, maybe try testing every few days?

Your OB/GYN is a bit weird as a blood test is the quickest way to discover if a woman is pregnant since HCG takes longer to build up in your urine. Sounds bizarre to me

ireadyermind - I would say take another test just to be sure. Especially if AF was way shorter than normal. I had a friend who had a normal period during her first month pregnant and so she thought she hadn't gotten pregnant until the next month, but when she went in for her ultrasound at what was supposed to be 8 weeks they realized she was really 12 weeks along. My cousin, on the other hand, didn't have periods during pregnancy but she absolutely could not get a BFP on a urine test ever. She only was able to determine pregnancy through a blood test, the urine test came back neg up through at least 5 months (and then they stopped testing).

Thanks ladies.

I think I'll POAS in the morning, but I don't expect to see a BFP or anything. It's like I'm having this internal argument with myself. Half of me says this is too weird to NOT be pregnant, and the other half says that it's all just another game that hormones can play on a gal when she's TTC.

You would think that if these were pregnancy symptoms, I'd get a blazing second line, right? Especially the nosebleed! But like Angel said, there are some women who don't ever test positive on HPTs and have to have blood test.

Kat - It's the whole network's policy not to do bloods unless a urine test comes back positive, not just my personal OB/GYN. The same holds true for a lot of doctors here in the States. For one thing, insurance companies don't want to have to fork over any money if they don't absolutely have to, so it's much MUCH cheaper for them to cover the cost of POAS than it is for them to cover all or a portion of a blood test for me.

So unless I have some other compelling reason that makes the OB/GYN think I'm pregnant, they won't order blood tests without first getting a positive urine test. I could change to any OB/GYN in the network and get told that, unfortunately.
