Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

I am 35 & TTC #1. It's tough turning 30 & still single. Everybody starts telling you that you better hurry up & that time is running out. I've been married for a year now (dated for 4) & we started TTC 2 cycles ago. However that 1st cycle, he was sick with a stomach bug so we didn't bd close enough to o. This last cycle I o'd early so we almost missed it but I'm pretty sure we weren't successful this month either. I took a test this am (13 dpo AF due tomorrow but temp spiked this am) & it was a bfn 😞 I would like to hurry up & get my bfp bc I would like to have more than 1 child so my time is running out for multiple births.
I am open to any suggestions. This is the 1st cycle that I charted but 2nd month using opk. I usually have a very reg cycle of 25 days but since turning 35 it is between 25-28.

Gagrl - I'm looking at your old charts and usually your temps drop after 9-10 dpo and then really fall at 11-12dpo. Its possible your LP is lengthening, time after bc can do that, or you may have had late implantation which means BFP won't show right away. I'm hoping for the latter. :hugs: keeping everything crossed for you !

Welcome newbie!! If you are chatting and using OPKs you are doing everything you can to track. Unfortunately time is what it takes. I hate that. Took me 14 months but I was recovering from 15+ years on bcp.

This is a great group though so feel free to stick around and get advice and support during the cycle!

Star: Glad you're getting close to getting back in the game! Come on AF hurry up and get here! And, yeah the BBT testing as well as the wondfo opks were on point this cycle. Guess all that sneaky BD while my dad was in town paid off! :haha:

Gagirl: Have you tested again? You're due for AF tomorrow right? Temps staying high could be a good sign! Keep us posted!

Angel: Doing well so far; feeling fairly normal other than bloated and sore boobs. Also TMI but constipated for days so I'm guessing that's related. Bought some prune juice today to hopefully help move things along :dohh:

newbie: Welcome! I'd suggest downloading Fertility Friend (FF) app and start charting your BBT and your opks, at minimum. I'd also say to get over any squemishness about this early (if you have any at all to begin with) and start also tracking your cf. Those three things together really help to pinpoint when your most fertile time is and can help you nail down your od so that if you are bust on a cycle, you know have a better idea of when to time things for the next. Good luck!

AFM: all the cheapie hpts are showing good line progression. I'm shocked by how much more sensitive the easy@home tests are because I didn't find that to be the case with their opks. But man, those hpt lines are strong. I'll show you a side by side of the two tests later if you guys want. I talked to my gp group today, who are great. They had a PA call me back, do a quick screen over the phone, and answered all my questions. I'm going in this afternoon to do a blood test with them. They said that they don't recommend doing the progesterone tests right away unless you have a history of cps or miscarriages, so I'm holding off on that. They also said I should get the rhogam shot later in the pregnancy UNLESS I have any bleeding, in which case I need to go in immediately to get the shot. They are right down the street from my office and have the shot in stock so I'd just go there if needed. I'll let you know how the blood test goes today! so glad I have awesome GPs nearby

Angel- could be my body finally leveling out after the mirena.

Etis- I tested yesterday and it was a bfn so I'm not testing until next week sometime when I'm officially late.

Etis congrats, H&H 9 months:happydance: As for pregnancy related constipation, I've found eating fiber and drinking plenty of water really helps.

Angel glad everything is looking good with your bean:thumbup:

FXed to all you ladies still TTCing :dust: :dust: :dust: :dust:

Yeah I used FF this last cycle. That is how I learned a lot about checking bbt & cm. I feel like we just haven't gotten our timing right yet & haven't actively been trying long enough. I'm gona have to sit him down and educate him 😳

I'm 34 & TTC #1. I've been off BCP since the end of December. I've downloaded My Calendar app and just downloaded Ovia yesterday. I also jist bought Pre-Seed & a basal body thermometer to start tracking temps. I've also been trying to get in the habit of checking cp & cm an learning what everything means. It gets frustrating to hear of friends/family that get pregnant by accident & others like me are doing everything we can & it still takes awhile. I'm thankful for forums like these and ladies like you to lean on for support. Good luck to everyone that hasn't had success yet & congrats to all those that have finally got their BFP!

newbie I can totally relate. I'm 34 and ideally want more than 1 child. I have pcos and so have trouble Oing. I either don't O or I overstimulate. It's very frustrating. I'm barely starting again this cycle after waiting almost two months for my follies to shrink after the overstim. I keep thinking it's never going to happen. but being on these forums is really encouraging bc many people think that and then boom it happens. right now I'm waiting for AF to show. I have to take meds to induce it. hope I don't have a problem w that. as of yet I have never even had a shot at being pregnant. haven't been able to figure out the ovulatory dysfunction issue.

Ettis so so happy for you! let us know about the blood test!

gagrl - your temps look really good. I hope you just had late implantation. good luck!

Angel so happy everything is going well for you and your bean. keep us updated.

As far as I know there isn't any reason why I shouldn't be able to get pg. my cycles have always been normal & only prob I have is mild cramping when AF first starts. I feel like we just need to get our timing right.

WantsABaby - Welcome!! We have a collective wealth of TTC knowledge so feel free to ask any questions! :) This is a great group and a wonderful forum, one of the best I've seen. Temping definitely helps, and once you are able to determine your CM you'll get a great idea of when you are fertile.

Etis - I also found that the easy@home tests (and/or Wondfos) tended to show progression faster than my FRER's, once they started to progess. It took a couple days for the line to get more than very faint. But I was testing literally on 5 different brands every day, twice a day (I was obsessed..... lol): walmart 88cent brand, dollar tree, easy@home, wondfo, FRER, and I used CB a couple times. ..... Hi my name is Jessica and I am a POAS Addict....

Love to see side-by-side pics!! I like my line porn! :haha:

As for constipation: I try to eat a lot of veggies and fiber but that doesn't always work so I'm adding some metamucil every few days if I am uncomfortable (safe for pregnancy, and not harsh like a lot of stool softeners can be), and I also add Chia seeds to my yogurt evry day - great fiber there too.

When do you get results for blood test?

Ggrl - I will be stalking your chart all weekend! :haha:

newbie that's great that your cycles are normal. good luck w the timing this cycle. fx that this is your month!

Ettis how's it going? any updates?

Angel how are you doing?

afm AF has still not shown. uggg. starting to think the meds (I took a new type this cycle) didn't work. when I took the other two types of meds it showed within three days of stopping the pills. today was day 3 and nothing. if no AF by Monday, I'm going to call doc and ask for a different prescription. just hope it won't be another 10 days of it.

I'm doing ok. Very tired, but that's to be expected. I also did a lot of extra work today: a couple hours of yard work, fully cleaned out the car (vacuum, wiped it down, etc), and started on some house cleaning. Probaby more than I should have done today but I wanted to get it done. Tomorrow I have to work on some stuff for my lesson plans and then do a little house cleaning that I didn't finish up today. Thankfully M/S has been very mild, just lots of exhaustion.

I'm expecting AF any second now with another temp drop..

Angel are you on a probiotic?

Hey everyone! Sorry been MIA, super busy week in addition to the news.

Star: sorry AF hasn't shown yet. What a nasty little b she can be--showing up when people don't want her, not showing when people do. Fx she does soon one way or another.

Gagirl: temp drops but no AF still? Are you normally regular?

Angel: I'll get you your line porn fix later this afternoon :haha: profession on both look good, just crazy how much more sensitive the easy @home ones were initially

Wants: Welcome! I sound like a broken record sometimes but I highly recommend downloading fertility friend (ff). I used ovia then both ovia and FF and FF was much better for tracking data and identifying my fertile window and od. I did not get the same accuracy with ovia even though I liked the design of the app much better.

AFM: blood results come sometime this week, so keep ya posted. The only major symptoms I have are the sore boobs (which differ from my PMS sore boobs in that the soreness is concentrated on sides of my breasts). Sore nipples (to the touch they feel almost tingly, it's weird), some mild cramping that may be more gassy related, and the aforementioned constipation. That actually has gotten a bit better with fluids, Metamucil, and hot de caffeinated chai tea lattes oddly enough. I've also been falling asleep earlier than normal but maybe that's just due to the lack of caffeine I'm used to. Energy levels are good otherwise.

Don't judge me here, but the big concern I have at the moment is how to hide my lack of drinking until we are ready to tell people, which we're not planning on doing till my first July 11 obgyn appointment. We run in a social drinking crowd and live in a town where alcohol is a staple of everything down to regular after work drinks with my boss. People will catch on right away if I'm not drinking and there are lots of unavoidable events on the horizon that could easily blow my cover. First up is my birthday party that's already been scheduled for this Friday. I've made some delicious mocktails but don't know how to deal with people ordering me drinks at the bar or serving me drinks at their house (two different things happening--a happy hour then a party at my friends). Any thoughts? DH has to work that night so he won't be there to play interference until much later

I've only been off BC since Feb but I've been pretty regular since. I took an IC this morning and again bfn. I'm just confused now. Literally no sign of AF.. Last month I had a very weird cycle.. It came right on time but it was very light.. Lasted for the normal five days. Im assuming this is all just my body adjusting to being off the mirena.

Gagrl - I do take a probiotic on occasion and that does help a lot. I used to take them daily but haven't since I changed my diet and started exercising regularly because I tend to be more "regular" now. But I think I'm going to need to add one again.

Etis - i also find that hot tea or coffee helps a lot. I still have one cup of coffee a day but will go completely decaf once I'm out for the summer. That seems to really help.

A couple ideas for your drinking- if you are out somewhere you could pull the waiter or bartender aside (go to the bathroom, and grab the waiter while you're away etc) and ask them to make all your drinks as "mock tails" without telling the friends you are with. Could get tricky if others order for you though.

On at least one occasion you could play the "not feeling well" say you think you're getting a bug and don't want to aggravate it with alcohol. I have done that.

Sorry that's about all I got. Lol. Hope something helps!
