Anyone TTC #1 and 30 or older?

I need help. I am so confused. My normal cycle length is 25-28 days. I've only been charting for 1 month & used opk's for 2 months. According to last month, I o on cd14 & AF started 15 dpo. Textbook cycle. This month, I got a peak on cd7, watery cm & temp spike on cd 9. Therefore, FF said I o on cd 8. If according to last month my luteral phase was 14 days, then I am assuming that is the average bc from what I understand, this phase doesn't fluctuate much? I got bfn on 16 dpo. Temps dropped yesterday & today (17 & 18 dpo) but are still above cover line. No sign of AF yet.
So when should I expect AF? 14 dpo? Or cd 25-28?
I want to test again but I just know as soon as I do AF will show up & I don't want to waste that money.

Generally you can expect your luteal phase to be the same (within a day or two difference) and can expect your period based on that. That said, my luteal phase varies more than that... anywhere from 12-16 days, so I think it's a bit of a toss up. Your temps dropping suggests that your period will likely come soon. If it's not here in the next 48 hours I'd test again. :)

SweetDreams - welcome! hope you have great luck this cycle.

miss doc - i hear ya. when i was waiting the two months for my follies to shrink, i was very much enjoying my wine. oh did i enjoy. it was really nice. so yea, i definitely hear ya on enjoying the little things :) sounds like you def did your BDing right for this cycle. fx for you! i so hope this is your month! i hope the TWW goes by quickly!

gagrl - good luck with next cycle! i hope you get your bfp very soon.

etis- glad you found something that helps with the constipation. I’m so so happy for you about your bfp! its such wonderful news and i have my ftx for the blood test results. keep us updated.

Thank you all much for the support.. I have a very good feeling about this month...I really think that things are going to only get better from here.

Hey everyone! Got the blood test results back annnnnnd it confirmed everything!! :happydance:

My HcG levels put me at about four weeks along (which duh). It's happening! They didn't test for progesterone levels or anything because they don't recommend doing it this early in your first trimester unless you have a history of mc, which I don't have. So now it's just the waiting game for July 11th when I have my first obgyn appointment and will have an ultrasound to confirm. The apps all put me at around a Feb. 14th due date, so I imagine the doc will too.

Had my OB appointment yesterday! Didn't get a new US pic because she had my US pictures from my RE and could see that everything was progressing regularly. Since my OB is through the same clinic as my PCP they don't have the US equipment in the rooms, I think that when she does order US I have to go to the imaging clinic (which is downstairs in another office I believe). I'm not 100% sure on that. But she was able to find heartbeat for just a few seconds using doppler, baby kept wiggling away so she couldn't catch it for long. She said it's really hard to find them with doppler before 11 weeks, so it was good (and beat in the 160s).

They took about 7 vials of blood and are running a bunch of tests, and lots of talking and questions and stuff. My apps have me predicted at Due Date around January 8th - 10th (depending on app), my RE says January 9th, and my OB says from her handheld chart thing January 10th, but their computer says January 12th. loL! not that the baby will come on any one specific date, I just found it funny that they ALL used my LMP to date and can't agree :p However, It suddenly feels so real!

SweetDreams - Thanks! Good luck to you and your tests! Are you starting the fertility testing? My doctor said to me "Oh you're only 30? You're so young! Plenty of time!" And here I am freaking out that I waited until I was 29 to start trying and I won't get my LO until at least 31. Apparently it's not uncommon to put off kids until the 30s now. Makes me feel better

Gagrl - That's going to be hard, but hopefully you can get in some BD. :hugs:

Newbie - LP doesn't change much but can vary. When I first got off bcp my LP was 8 days. Over time it lengthened to 10 and then 12 days. I had one cycle where it was 16 days back when it was still normally 10 (I was POSITIVE I had to be pregnant, :nope: ). So sometimes it can vary. Are you recently off a hormonal BC? That would also cause your LP to not be consistent yet.

Etis - Yay! Congrats!!! You're just about a month behind me. With a possible valentines baby! :D

Angel-- Wow, you got to hear the heartbeat?! That is really exciting. That makes it so real. And I love that when you got pregnant your doctor said you were "so young!" Haha! That's great. I love hearing that stuff rather the alarmist stuff about waiting too long. I am 32 and trying for #1 and I wish we would have started to try a year or two ago, but realistically, this time is much better for it for us than any other time has been. Stable careers, grad school/internship/fellowship well behind me, have a house, aggressively paying off all student loan debt. This is a MUCH better place for us than say, 28 would have been. Now just bring on the bean! Lol.

Etis-- Yay for the bloodwork confirming everything. That is so cool. And also pretty awesome that your projected due date is around valentines day. I'm imagining really sweet little baby announcements in your future!

AFM, 3dpo here. 3 days of high temps finally gave me my crosshairs. For absolutely no reason at all I'm feeling "out" and just being a bit skeptical overall. It's crazy how up and down the waiting process is. Last month I was already symptom spotting at day 3 (which I know is nonsensical), feeling super hopeful, etc. This go round I'm still obsessively thinking about it, but kind of expecting it not to happen. I'm sure that'll keep changing throughout the 2ww.

No I haven't been on bc for at least 3 years now & wasn't on it for very long anyway (maybe a year?)
AF showed up today which is around my normal time but it put my lp at 18 days when it was 14 the month before. I figured FF would've changed my o date but it didn't. And since I had a peak opk watery cm & temp spike between cd 7 - 9 I'm pretty sure my o date was accurate. I'm not going to start getting my hopes up until my normal cycle length passes from now on. Apparently I may be a rare case that my lp varies more than others. But this was only my 2nd month tracking so maybe in a couple months I'll have more insight.

congrats etis!!!!! so so happy for you! :)

angel - so glad things are progressing nicely for you!

miss doc - fx for you! how this is your cycle. i also understand things being up and down. i feel the same way. i'm hoping i have a chance this cycle. next appointment for me is friday. hopefully some of the follies start growing a little. im sure i'll being doing the injections for a while though b/c im on a very very low dose.

MissDoc - Yes, the heartbeat makes it so real ! Now I want to get a doppler! lol

I'm right there with you, I wish we had started a couple yars ago but things like stable careers and grad school, and all that is finally taken care of and this is a much better time.

The TWW is like a rollercoaster, I was constantly changing whether I felt in or out. :hugs:

Newbie - I wonder if it's possible you O'd a couple day slater than you thought. FF isn't always 100% accurate. On the other hand, this could just be a fluke month.in my 14 months TTC I had one crazy month with a really long LP. This could be yours. More time tracking will give you more insight. :)

Hey ladies :) I think I may have posted in here a few weeks ago, but haven't posted since.

Anyway my husband and I are both 30 (I'll be 31 in December). I'm feeling so upset and just need a support system. We were going to start trying this week (I finally got hubby talked into it) well now we are probably going to have to wait until November :'( we don't have insurance... Until now it's been cheaper for us to be self pay. We own our own business and do fairly well for where we live, but we still have some struggles.

Well we had both decided that we were either just going to be self pay when we get pregnant and deal with the payments. Or try to find a reasonable insurance plan and go ahead and sign up. I had to have an ultrasound about a month ago and we received the bill and had a rude awakening. It was $2,000!!! So now we're freaking out and are being told that we can't even get an insurance plan until open enrollment period :( I'm so bummed because is summer was the best time for us to start trying.

Anyway I'm just needing some positive vibes sent my way. I want to just not worry about it, but it's so hard not to. I'm literally obsessed with everything baby right now. I'm so glad I have a place like this forum to vent :(

Zoe - that's awful. It amazes me how much they charge for things like that. Did you call and try to work out something? Sometimes if you don't have insurance they will give you a no-insurance break. They overcharge to get as much out of insurance companies as possible. Also a suggestion - is there a Planned Parenthood or other low-cost clinic you could use? Planned Parenthood does prenatal checkups, and often times bigger cities will have a low-cost clinic that you could use in the early stages.

Once you get pregnant most doctors won't see you until 9-10 weeks anyway, so you wouldn't have a lot of doctor appointments right away (unless you are already classified high risk). With that in mind, the next question is whether insurance would cover if you got pregnant in the next few months and then got insurance in November or if they would be allowed to deny based on preexisting conditions. Most of the new laws ban insurance companies from denying based on preexisiting condition but I would check with the companies. If they cannot deny coverage then I say wait a month or two but then maybe start trying because by the time you'd need your first appointment you'd be about to be able to get insurance.

An alternative is to look at a midwife or doola instead of an OB. They are much cheaper (significantly) and could save you a lot of money if you are self-paying instead of having insurance.

:hugs: These are just some options to consider, but of course def wait if cost is going to put in trouble! I just know a few friends who don't have insurance and they went through pregnancy using these options (low cost clinic for ultrasounds, a midwife/doola for the pregnancy and delivery).

Thank you for replying :)
From what I have been told, under the new Affordable Care act, there are no more pre-existing conditions (pregnancy being one of them). Hopefully that is true. We do have a pregnancy care center that does offer free ultrasounds and pregnancy tests. Unfortunately we live in such a small town so the closest birthing center is about 2 hours away :(

Hi everyone. My name is CeeCee. I'm 32 and trying to conceive baby #1. I've never posted in any of these chats, but I sit at my desk all day and read the post. Lol. Me and hubby have been married for 9 months and have been trying for a year or more.
In March i went to a fertility doc and my blood work showed i am anti ovulatory. This month we have been trying Geritol, so I hope I get everything flowing as it should.

welcome ceecee! good luck this cycle. did your doc have thoughts as to why you didn't ovulate? I hope the geritol helps you. I'm not familiar w that medication. is it used to boost ovulation?

Well we had our insurance meeting today and got some not so good news :( Looks like we are going to be waiting until December to start trying. I feel so upset. I know it's only 6 months longer, but I really had my heart set on this summer. I've cried all morning, and of course hubby thinks I'm crazy for being this upset. Could really use some prayers and positive vibes.

Angel, I would totally be getting a doppler!

Zoe, I'm sorry to hear about that crappy insurance situation. I feel like there has to be a way to not have to postpone. Did you learn that if you are pregnant they won't let you join? If that's not the case I'd probably start trying in a few months and just get basic care from affordable clinics for the first few months (IF you happen to get pregnant quickly... it may take some time) and then get the insurance and transfer to a covered doctor/clinic. If you do have to wait, I'm very sorry. It's just 6 mos but that would be a very hard 6 months for me.

Ceecee, I too am 32 and TTC #1. Hopefully we start having some better luck soon! I hope the meds you're taking now do the trick. :)

AFM, Today is 5 DPO. I am not feeling any symptoms, unlike the crazy symptom spotting I did last cycle. I am having some mixed feelings today, though. My friend just joined me in the TTC craziness, and just got her BFP on the very first try. Thankfully I actually do feel really happy for her (so I don't have to fake it at all), but it makes me feel pretty impatient and even more skeptical for myself. Which doesn't make sense because I have normal cycles, ovulate well, have normal luteal phases, no obvious barriers, etc. And I haven't been TTC for very long. I am just flat out not a patient person!

Ready for these next 9-10 days to go by fast!

He told us that if we were to get pregnant before January that we wouldn't be able to sign up for Insurance because of the Open Enrollment Period. So we would basically be on our own, unless we qualified for pregnancy medicaid which they can't tell us we qualify until I'm actually pregnant. We just don't wanna take the chance. Unfortunately with the new Affordable Care Act, it's making it almost impossible for us to have any other options. So we wait... and we pray that we don't have an oops...

She believes its because of my weight. Her first thought is for me to lose 30lbs and then we can start a round of clomid.
The Geritol is suppose to kickstart ovulation with a boost of vitamins. I googled it and it says "there's a baby in every bottle" . its worth a try.
Thanks for the welcome ladies.🙂🙂
