April Mummies 2011

Cottles- I think Rosie is starting to teeth also. She's been hands in her mouth nonstop for almost 2 weeks now and CONSTANT drool!!! The other day she had my finger in her mouth and it was BITE SUCK BITE SUCK and so on.

Well first time I've been able to get on the computer for quite some time! I think Loopy wanted this link but it's about breastmilk

And here is a picture of Rosie from our camping trip- hopefully I'll get some more on here while I have internet via computer instead of phone

Cute picture Miss Fox! Looks like a great place to nap :haha:

I have a question, I've been swaddling LO every night for her night sleeps but had been leaving her free for naps. She also had been napping wherever she was when she fell asleep. In the past 2 weeks she has stopped napping and is a terror. She's clearly tired but I can't get her to nap. So yesterday after not getting her to nap except for during a car ride, I swaddled her and she slept! She slept for almost 3 hours! I only woke her because it was getting too close to bedtime. This morning again I couldn't get her to sleep like she had been (cuddled with me in bed) so I just changed her diaper, swaddled her and put her down. She actually asleep! My problem is that I'm concerned about how long she's going to need to be swaddled.
Do you guys swaddle? for naps or at night? how do I wean her from swaddling and when? Obviously I'm not going to send her to first grade with a swaddling blanket :haha:
I had actually been trying to put her down at night without the swaddle so this feels like a step backwards.

cheese-babies LOVE being swaddled, even as late as 6-7 months (think about where they came from!). we don't swaddle for naps but we swaddle for sleep at night and i'll be swaddling for as long as she likes it.

I guess I need to remember to pack swaddlers for daycare next week :) Whatever works to get her to nap!

My baby is 11 lbs today @ 2 months
Born 6 lbs 14 oz!

all on booby milk :yipee:

Cheese lover - we swaddle Rex on a night. It's the only way he'll stay asleep! I hadn't done it for naps either but last week I had the same problem. He wouldn't nap anymore! So I'm trying to swaddle him in his basket during the day. But even then it's only about 45 mins whereas he used to do a good few hours on an afternoon. Gutted cos I used to use that as my nap time to catch up on sleep too!

Who is still rocking or feeding LOs to sleep? We are but it's getting tough going! But then I also feel like he's too young to be left crying & he just won't settle himself! Bedtime routine doesn't seem to be helping either. He's so unpredictable about what time he'll settle to sleep. I try to pump so DH can do the last feed before bed but I often end up having to top him up off me when he hasn't settled for ages. Anyone else have a battle at bedtime? Or is it just us with a bad sleeper?!

On a good note, he was weighed today & he's 11lb 8oz. Little chubber! After all the weight loss issues at the beginning it's such a relief. x

we jiggle in our arms for her to sleep - she's swaddled too

she's 8 weeks old and I am enjoying it :) sod all the books telling me to stop doing something that works for us :)

after the rough start we had I'm enjoying every moment I have with her and I love our bedtimes together :) she goes down after her 7(ish) feed and wakes for feeds through the night - it works for us and she seems to be happy too :) she'll grow out of her swaddle, and I'm sure she'll be able to self settle too soon more consistantly (she can be put down with open eyes and she drifts off but not always)

we also use white noise but that's because we have 2 very noisy cats in the house - it turns off after 30mins and it isn't on all night :)

finally posted my birth story!!! i left out little details, didn't want to get boring.

I swaddle when its cold Rosie loves it. She doesn't like to nap either but she's been takimg 3 naps a day (one is 3hrs usually) and the 3rd one s usually so short!
Sazzle- sometimes Rosie goes down while awake and sometimes I have to rock her in my arms.

Hope all are well.

I'm still having trouble waking LO in the day! She still seems to have day and night the wrong way round :dohh:

Tonight though we have tried something different. Instead of bath at 6.30 and bottle at 7.30, then bed we have kept her up. She happened to be awake from 6.30ish until she fell asleep in her 10pm bottle. (A record for her, I tried to get her to sleep but she was wide awake and smiling and cooing). We started getting ready for a bath at 9.30pm. She enjoyed it this time and went down to bed no problems. She only took 120ml of her 180ml but that is more than she has had in the last few nights. Hoping she's lasts a little longer. She slept nearly 6 hours today, dropping her 1.30pm feed. I tried to wake her but she was having none of it.

We are lucky that she is quite good at going to bed. We do have trouble with her in the early hours sometimes. We are using a gro anywhere blind now and this seems to help get her down after the sun has come up when she wakes at 4/5am.

I weighed her on Sunday and she is up to 10lb 4oz. Great considering she was 5lb 13oz at birth and dropped to 5lb 4oz. She wasn't interested in food at first but is a guzzle-guts now!

Thankyou girls for your comments on my little Amelia - her smile makes my heart melt!

I took her to the doc and she doesn't think it is Reflux - she reckons it is because I am producing milk too fast therefore shes gulping it down at the first letdown, then keeping the wind in there til I burp her 10 mins later then bringing it all up. I did think this in the past but i don't know. She suggested winding after the first 2 minutes, which I do , but Amelia obviously HATES it as she's just started feeding!!! After a load of screaming she does A HUGE burp then settles again. This has DEFINATELY helped, just winding her earlier.

Looking back it seems common sense but I am not the best for that anyway!!!

Amelia seems to adjust between night and day but as soon as that sun is up - hello 5am - she is ALERT and scanning the room for me. I woke up this morning to her grinning at m

Try to lean back while feeding her, that way gravity is working against your fast let down.

Great job Lilly! Our LO's were the same weight at birth. I can't wait to see what she weighs next week at her 2 month check-up.

Sazzle, sounds like we have the same baby :haha: today she would only nap for about 45 minutes but she took 4 naps. at night I'm still rocking and feeding at bedtime but she's not falling asleep like before so I've started putting her down a little awake and giving her a pacifier to get her completely asleep. After night feedings she goes right down without the pacifier.

She is still taking 2 night feedings once at around 1-2 and another at 4-5.

I slept all night! OH sorted George for me after a very bad 24 hours, George had terrible wind yesterday but he was better lat night. Yesterday my mum also took an overdose, she is fine physically but has been suffering anxiety and depressoion for years, it makes me so angry that she is selfish enough to take an overddose though, its not fair on anyone especially my dad, he puts up with so much from her already.

x

Sounds like everyones LOs are doing well! :D x

Jen - Oh dear, I hope shes ok :| x

Ollie FINALLY fits into his newborn sized clothes haha! :D Hes gone up to 9lb 2oz now :)
Im getting his christening sorted out on Monday, getting a date and stuff set! Cant wait. Partay time ;) haha!
Anyone else getting thier LOs christened?

The vicar or priest or whatever he is said yesterday that if need be I can have an emergency one done since I told him about the situations we've been in with Ollie lately.
Dont think I said on here but he was back up the hospital on Friday because he took another funny turn.
But anyway, hopefully it wont come to that. -touch wood-

He had his first needles on Monday and SCREAMED. Then cried the majority of the day!
Anyone elses LO had thiers yet?
Im dreading his next ones lol.

Aw Gem, you're having such an awful time yet staying so positive. Don't know how you do it but good on you. Hope Ollie just keeps improving now.

Been out buying dummies today! Gonna try them to see if they get Rex to settle better on a night & stay asleep. He'll only stay asleep when he's on someone or we're out & about & he's in his car seat. He wakes himself up so easily in his basket & then cries. So hoping a dummy might help to get him to sleep a bit quicker & make him stay asleep a bit longer! I've bought 3 different types to see which ones he prefers cos he just spits the ones we had back out with his tongue! x

Just sat listening to Gabriel snoring :haha: Going to get him weighed tomorrow, he hasn't been weighed for a month now so i'm fully expecting for them to announce him as heavy as a tiny elephant :cloud9:

We have a funny old house that has 4 floors and, because of the work we are having done on the bottom floor, we have been mostly living upstairs for the past couple of months. Another thing about it being an old house is that the walls are incredibly thick solid brick and you can't hear a flipping thing that is going on outside unless it is the absolute dead of night or the windows are open... so it was a lovely surprise to walk out of the house yesterday and find that my lovely neighbour had cleared my entire driveway and front of the house of weeds and general untidyness :happydance:

Bless him, we have been so busy and he wanted to do us a favour. Crate of beer and oodles of thanks to him today!

Hope you are all doing well, ladies. Gabe is growing so quickly, I can barely believe that he is 6 weeks old today... it has gone by in the blink of an eye! My beautiful boy now smiles too, as you can see:

I can't believe it, Isis only woke up once between 9pm and 7am! I actually panicked a little when DH's alarm went off this morning. I went in to check on her.
I realized this morning that the warm weather is good for us because its encouraging skin-to-skin. Looking at my baby girl sleeping in my arm is making me a little sad to be going back to work next week. At least its just a week and then I go on vacation for a week.

Amethyst, what great neighbors!

Sazzle, it might take a few attempts to get him to take one. We had to try a couple times in the beginning to get Isis to take a pacifier.

Gem, What a big boy! I'm sorry you keep having to take him in! I hope he stops scaring you!

I think Harley has got night and day mixed up! He wakes twice in the night but for 2 days now hes had a bottle at 8.30 am and not woken for ages.
Gem mine have gotta have their 2nd lot next week, hate it!
Jaimee has got chicken pox too so im house bound at the mo, sooooo bored lol xxx
