April Mummies 2011

Hope everyone is well.

Choco sorry about your mum, hope she's ok and your dad too.

Gem I'm not sure I will be getting George christened. I'm christened but I'm not religious so not sure about christening George.

I took George for his doctors appointment todayn they do like to worry us mothers. She said that he has dropped on the growth chart. He now weighs 10lbs 14oz but she said he should be heavier. I think he is fine though and has gained 22oz in 3 weeks. Also he has a hole near his bum, I'm sure I remember someone else saying there LO had a hole too. I think it was caro, has anything happened about that as the doc said George might have to be referred to make sure there isn't anything wrong with his spine. She told me its probably nothing to worry about but it still does worry me a bit.

As long as your baby is happy, healthy and gaining weight I wouldn't worry. Every baby is different! Some are skinny some are chubby some are small some are tall! Some gain fast some gain slow.
:)

Also is the hole near his bum closed? My baby has it n they checked it with a light to make sure it was closed and it was n she's fine.

Caleb was only 11.8 at his 2month check-up and dr. said it was fine he was at 35% his height and head measurements were at 44% I am back to work now and I hate leaving him the first day I cried 6 times... I was better the second day but I am off today and don't want to go back tomorrow... we took Caleb to the pool... I will post pics... oh and he will be 12 weeks on friday where has the time gone I mean really... oh and he is definitely teething... drooling all over the house and constantly chewing and he clamps down on my nipples and OMG owwwwwww.. I really only get to BF twice a day the rest is expressed milk and 1 bottle of formula I still don't produce enough milk but it works for us I just hope my supply stays at least were it is or goes up if possible.. my days off I BF more obviously but the clamping on the nipples is getting sooooooo painful now

I won't be getting Toby christened. I was christened as a baby but I'm not at all religious and neither is OH so it'd be hypocritical of us to christen him.

I did want a welcoming ceremony but we've booked our wedding now so I'm not sure we can afford it.

Toby's slept SO much today. He's not having much of his bottle. Yesterday he went 6hrs without a bottle and refused it when I woke him up to feed him. Today he's slept loads and only had 2oz of his last bottle. I think he has sore gums and I'm worried it hurts too much to take a bottle at the mo. The only way I could settle him last night was by putting my little finger in his mouth (his dummy was refused straight away)... he pushed my finger to one side of his mouth and he just chewed it til he got tired and went to sleep. Poor thing. :(

It all depends on how big they were to start with!
And boys are usually heavier than girls, etc..

Some babies are 10lbs at birth and for them it wouldn't be good to only be 11lbs at 2 months. My daughter was born 6 lbs 14 oz and is 11 lbs at 8 weeks. Think that's average. I don't pay attention to all these %compared to other babies , as I said before as long as they're gaining weight steadily and reaching their milestones, they're most likely fine. Could be on the 10th percentile or on the 90th.

Have you thought of getting him a teething toy so he has something to chew on?
Or an amber teething necklace/bracelet?

thats what I say and Calebs dr doesn't seem worried... he was 7 8 at birth but dropped to 5 8 so he is doing well.. oh and he loves his teething ring.. as far as swaddling he still loves to be swaddled and does sleep longer if he is... he already sleeps 8 or 9 hours at night though so some days he doesn't take a long nap... the only time he sleeps not swaddled is in his swing and he loves the swing... makes it easier for me to get things done as well... lol

Aleena was 6 lbs 14 oz, dropped to 6 lbs 4 oz and at 8 weeks 11 lbs.

Wow 8-9 hours a night!
Aleena still wakes every 2-3 hours and very occasionally she will sleep 5-6 hours . It's ok with me though, she'll wake to eAt and fall right back Asleep and so will I as we cosleep :)

Lilly, I'm getting him a teething dummy tomorrow. His mouth is too small still for the teething toys I bought.
I've heard a lot about the Amber necklaces but don't know anything about them. What are they/how do they work? x

Amethyst - Your neighbours sound lovely! And Gabe is beautiful as always :) x

Cheese lover - thats fantastic that she slept so long! Bet you felt nice and refreshed this morning eh? x

Tasha - Hope the twins next lot of needles go well and hope Jaimee is better soon! x

CrazyBird - That could have been me who said about that. Ollie has a sacred dimple (looks like a 2nd bumhole) Try not to worry, it'll probably be fine :) Are they going to do a scan?
Ollie had an ultra sound on his and it turned out to be ok x

Cami - Caleb is gorgeous :) x

Cottles - Aww bless, I hope Toby settles better tonight x

Did any UK ladies watch waterloo road tonight? Ah it was so sad :( I actually cried at it haha! Big softie :)
My mum has taken Ollie to my grandads but I feel lost without him and he's only been gone 10 mins :( I don't know what to do with myself xD
He has stressed me out slightly today though. He's done nothing but cry! Apart from bath time he loved that so I took some pics haha!

Gem I'm not sure I will be getting George christened. I'm christened but I'm not religious so not sure about christening George.

Also is the hole near his bum closed? My baby has it n they checked it with a light to make sure it was closed and it was n she's fine.

George is gaining weight, i read that a baby of his age should gain 5-10oz a week and he has gained 22oz in 3 weeks so that tells me he is fine. The doctors just like to worry us. It must be because he was 8lbs 3.5 when born so maybe he should be a bit bigger but he isnt a fat baby and everyone keeps telling me how long he is.

The hole looks kind of closed, i will have to check again. The doctor said its probably nothing to worry about but i have to take him back in 2 weeks.

Very cute Gem, looks like Ollie loves a bath. George loves getting in the bath too, just hates getting out.
Im not sure if he will be having a scan, i remember now that it was you that said about the second bum hole lol. I will find out in 2 weeks what is happening. Hope it turns out to be ok. He seems completely fine to me. He smiles and laughs loads, my mum said i had the same thing when i was a baby :)

Cami good to hear from you! 12 weeks already - blimey that has gone fast!! Sad that they grow up too fast!

I should really read back and reply to everyone but I have a RARE 5 minutes before one of the kids more than likely wakes!! Jake usually goes 14 hours solid at night, Amelia will usually go from 9pm-12am and 3 hours throughout the night. I also kind of co-sleep so feeding in the night is easy-peasy, but sometimes she will decide it is playtime!

I have the FisherPrice rainforest playgym and got it last week. I have been using it every day but today she really took an interest in the toys and started smiling and cooing at the lights and kicking her legs frantically!

I get her weighed next week. We are guessing she is around the 12lb mark, she is so long though - I am 5 ft 11 and DH is 6 ft 4 so no doubt she'll be another stringbean like us LOL! (Actually I need to lose a few more pounds but am being careful due to breastfeeding). I will start my Wii Fit again and may invest in a Zumba dvd..its just getting the time! I'll also start going on a couple of bike rides each week for an hour or so. I live near Epsom Downs so can blast a few miles round there.

Ugh I have serious backache and I know it is my mattress..need to get a new one! Can't wait - I love the feeling of a new bed - also got a bargain today on bedding in Homebase - a kingsize bedcover reduced from 49.99 to 11.99 and the cases and sheets were ridiculously reduced too. (I prefer Egyptian Cotton but it is so expensive!)

Argh! we have a severe thunderstorm watch until late tonight. We had a thunderstorm come through this morning. Luckily Isis sleeps through them.
I can't wait to see what Isis weighs at her 2 month appt. next week. When I took her to the ER last week she was 10.4lbs. She was born at 6lbs 14oz.

I think she's going through a growth spurt the past couple days. She's been really fussy and eating like its her job. I think she slept so well last night because I fed her extra at her 2:30 feeding. She pooped while she was eating so I changed her diaper and then gave her the second breast. I doubt that I'll get that lucky again!

Hope everyone is well.

yep was me as well as gem, I got the gp to check Alex's again on tuesday and she wasn't at all concerned cos its totally closed. fx'ed its the same for george!

my little man had his 1st lot of jabs on tues, he was really upset tues afternoon and sick over night, then yesterday ok but had sore legs, today i thought he was back to his usual self but he's not been feeding as well and keeps falling asleep, cries when hes awake, he also looks kinda pale. So for now i'm keeping a close eye on him and have given him a dose of baby calpol to see if that helps next time he's awake xx

I'm dreading the 2nd lot of jabs... Tobys got the 2nd batch in 2 weeks. Eeek.
Hope your little man perks up soon caro xx

Had to share this pic... So smiley!!

Aww! They're so adorable at this age aren't they? You could have the worst nights sleep ever and be at the point where you just want to scream but one little smile or giggle makes it all better :cloud9:

Mum is ok, acting like she didnt do anything! Same as normal, she has done this so many times now.

George has been much better since having the gripe water it really helps him. And today he latched onto my breast for the first time ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I offer it every feed but it normally really stresses him out, today he fed for 10-15 minutes and then fell asleep all nice and full! it was amazing, although he hasnt done it again since, I will try again in the morning.
