April Mummies 2011

Need to vent!

So as u may know via Facebook Poppy gave up her dummy by choice last week and all went really well since then she's slept beautifully and we've been consistent with not letting her in bed etc yet for some reason my husband thought in his pearl of wisdom to let her in for a quick cuddle tonight when she woke for a wee (she's also decided to go nappy free at night).
Anyways now he's decided it time to put her back in her own bed surprise surprise she's thrown a massive tantrum is wide awake and screaming the place down! I've told him that he made the problem so he can deal with it, this will no doubt lead to an argument of some description later!
I'm soo angry right out as all my hard work has been underdone and it will take a few sleepless nights mostly by me to put it right again. Oh and to top it off I have to be up early for work tomorrow but yet he will be the one who will get the lie in as poppy will prob sleep in!

Feel better now for ranting lol

I wish caro. Its at a specialist hospital so always like fully booked for months. Tried a few times to get it brought forward since the infections are like every 10 days or so and antibiotics barely help but yeah no luck. And ewhen I do actually see him he always says 'very unfortunate to have it at such a young age'. Ha :s

Pool party at danielles? :p haha.

Oh wow what're you gonna do with the spare rooms?!
I think I only have 5 rooms in the whole flat haha!

Very jealous of your house with a pool, Danielle!

:hugs: Gem. You seriously need a break with your health.

Caroline, yep, we have almost daily reference to Santa :dohh: I've also noticed that Rex thinks snow = Christmas so I'm hoping we don't get any this winter otherwise I can see the tantrums when there's no presents to open :dohh: I think it must be cos they fully understood the whole Christmas thing this year so it's stuck

Ria, it's so frustrating when your OH goes against what you're trying to put in place. Hope you made lots of noise when you got up this morning!

Still thinking of you, Gertrude. Hope you're physically recovering well. We're still here :hugs:

Gem, houses are huge in the US. This house is 3,000 sqft with an unfinished basement! Once we finish that it'll be about 4,000! There are 4 bedrooms upstairs and one on the main floor. The one on the main floor is more like an office or den but counts as a bedroom since it has a closet. We will not be using it as a bedroom.

I do think the whole Christmas thing is because this is their first year of really understanding it and they don't understand time real well yet so it seems like it should always be Christmas :haha:

We just found out that they aren't going to be paying for my big truck to be moved. We're going to have to pay it since we're not moving 400 miles or more. Sucks but oh well. I'm also considering getting personalized plates for the truck since her name is from the letters on her license plate. Elle (ELE on the plate). We'll see if DH agrees. He's pretty cheap so he probably won't want to but then again there is no logic when it comes to restoring a truck like this. It needs so much work that all the money we put into it is because of emotion not logic.

Is anyone else looking into nurseries? Tobys birthday was March so he'll be eligible for his early years funding after the easter holiday so he can start in April if we find him a place. Eeek! So grown up! We've got a nursery viewing on Monday and I've got another one to call tomorrow to see if there are any places. The other two local ones have waiting lists as big as my bum. One even said he wont get in for April. Or September. Maybe September next year? Ooft.

Oh yeah n the Santa thing... Toby apparently told DHs cousin that santa isnt real :haha: We decided to let him make up his own mind and he seemingly wants to believe its a story for now...

I wish I could do that with Isis! DH's family is crazy about the kids believing in Santa and prolonging how long they believe. As soon as Isis starts questioning it though I'm going to let her reason/think through it and decide for herself. I will not make up big stories like my SIL has been doing.

i figured out santa by the time i was 5. i take the same approach as i will religion and let her figure it out herself. i won't feed her stories past maybe 4, it is magical and i want her believing in that stuff until the world or her logic, rips it from her lol.

santa, i mean, not religon, lol.

yeah we're also not religious so I'll be handling both situations the same :)
I think I was around 7 when I figured out there was no Santa and I held on because I thought I wouldn't get as many presents. Then my parents told me when I was 10. I pretended that I didn't know already.

i found my presents in my dad's office covered with a sheet. when i got the same presents that i found, i figured it out.

I'm sure some kid told me at school. Or maybe I realized it after I caught my mom being the tooth fairy. I also faked that one. I have never told my parents these things :)

I got told in the playground at 5 santa wasn't real and then begged my mum to tell me the truth, the fact I went on and on tells me I knew deep down he couldn't be real but I remember being so gutted once my mum confirmed it. I'd love alex to go on believing for longer, can't get the innocence of childhood bk again.

Danielle your house sounds amazing!

So jealous of the kids born in march, the rest of us have to wait until September!
My friend was telling me I needed to get eddies name down now if I want him to get a space for a local preschool! I'm considering giving up work when alex starts school so might not use nursery as I'm going to do with alex to use his free hours, but seems crazy putting his name down now as he'll not be eligible until sept 2016!

My mum works in the school ollie will be going. Hes missed the April start by one place (goes off birth date. Oldest first) but so far 6 parents haven't returned forms so he might be starting in April after all!

I know the house sounds great but it needs a ton of updating! It was built in 1978 and is a federal style. I'm not a big fan of that style (red brick with two story white pillars on the front). It's going to take a lot of work to fix it up to where we want it but the property is to die for! Especially considering the larger area and the lack of trees and topography.

well, the link that you posted showing the house was amazing! besides, redoing a house is not only fun, but ups the value when you move. plus you'll have a house just the way you want it.

Yea the house sounds great!
Rosie is always talking about Santa. My brother is 8 and this year he told us he knew Santa wasn't real. We asked him to not tell Rosie because it would be special for her. I didn't tell my mom that I knew Santa/tooth fairy etc weren't real. She thought I believed until I was 16/17 and she had to tell me because she couldn't afford Christmas. I was like "I know but it was more fun for everyone if we all believed." And then that year I was Santa and we had a decent Christmas because I had a job. I will play it by ear. I buy separate Santa paper. I really just enjoy it

Yeah Dana, typical listing, the house looks better in pictures :) I'm excited about updating it! We're going to do very cool things with it.

I won't spoil Santa for Isis :) I'll keep buying "Santa" wrapping paper. I can't spoil it because I'm pretty sure my sil will kill me :)

So they still haven't told us that we can go look at the house with a pool :/ I'm worried we won't be able to go look at it. See, this is why I'm stressed, if they aren't ready to move then they won't want a quick closing and even though we're looking at other houses, that one is really our best option.
