***April Sweet Peas*** 204 Babies

Those are absolutely lovely pictures MrsRaggle!

Can't wait to see my little man roll onto his belly too. All these little moments of seeing the slightest little changes in them. It's so fun!

Here's my wee man :)

he is handsome. I'm jealous of all the hair. Kinleigh still has very little hair.

I've just loaded some photos to PB, so thought I'd share some of them with you all :)

Ooh wow Bobobaby, she has awesome neck strength there! What a great smiling pic of her too :)

Tashababy, I love your photos...what a great expression of ultimate serious face on the first one, haha (that's what we call the expression when Tiernan does it, LOL). Love the hat pic, too cute :)

Kimmyjane84, what a lovely little girl..you have some great 'awake baby' photos! I can only manage to get a bunch of sleeping pics, but I think that's partially cause I think babies are so adorable when they're sleeping, heh

Wow everyone, gorgeous pics of all your beautiful babies!!
Haven't we all done well?

Ollie has had a tummy upset this week. He's been a bit unsettled, and hasn't had as many dirty nappies as usual. I think is partly because I'm moving him to more formula, less BF, but he does seem to sometimes be in a bit of pain. Everytime I think about taking him to the doctor though he seems to get better. There's nothing the doc can really do for such a small baby anyway though, so while he's still eating OK, and is having wet and dirty nappies I think I'll just leave him. If any of that changes I'll take him straight away.

I know i love that pic. She had her needles today too and has been really grumpy all day. Just put her down for the night. xx

Finally got time to comment on all the pics! We all made such cute babies! :D

kimmyjane84- Jess looks like you from what I can see in your avator! Cutie!

Minstermind- He is so sweet! Look at all that hair!!

Freyasmom- Ollie's hair just makes me laugh! So cute!

mrsraggle- Love your pic's! So vintage & artsy looking. ;)

Tasha360- I love that picture of her in her dress. She has such a beautiful face! Out of curiosity, How much did she weigh when she was born? My daughter is 10lbs 6oz right now, so pretty close to Demi's weight.

I'm happy to share some photos! I took these yesterday (Ellie's 5 weeks now):

Thanks, although some people have trouble pronouncing it. They always pronounce it as Lay-lawn-E, but it's La-Lane-Uh. :haha: So I just tell them they can call her Lainey for short. Anyways, she was 6lb 1oz. Just a tiny babe. :)

Gabriella got her jags on Monday & has been a wee grump all week! She's been really clingy during the day, and only sleeping about 1.5 hours a time at night

She had just started having a spell at night of 5 hours too :hissy:

She does seem a bit more like herself today though... I even managed to have a bath this morning while she napped! That was a first, until now if I've been in by myself it has been a 5 min shower! I would have been a quick shower this morning too, except the bloody shower just died on me :(

Here's a couple of recent photos of my wee cutie.. The top 2 are for making her fatherr's day card, the bottom two were quickly snapped on my phone. I wasn't paying attention, was just looking out of the window while I tied her into the mei tai and looked down to discover she was grinning her wee head off at me!

I'm doing much better now than a few weeks ago, as I'm getting a hold of this breastfeeding issue. I've been pumping every 2-3 hours for weeks now, and finally got my supply back up after it being around an ounce out of both breasts, to now pumping around 3-4 ounces, sometimes a wee bit more.

He's breastfeeding with no problems during the night now so finally I've stopped having to get up and go downstairs, make a bottle, try him on the breast, feed him bottle, then pump (which would all take around an hour and a half).

So all in all, things have been progressing a little bit from week to week, and this is encouraging for me. Tiernan's doing great, the little chunkle munkle. He's a bit over 12 pounds now, so doing great. He's started noticing his own hands the last couple days, and I can feel his upper body working to hold himself upright, so these are all fun beginnings to witness. :)

I'm having problems with my milk supply. over the past 6 house I have only gotten 2.5 oz all together. Its really depressing knowing that I would fill a bottle and half of milk in one sitting and now I'm not. Did you do anything else to get your milk supply up or did you just pump a lot. I'm not ready to let go o breastfeeding just yet.

I did do a number of things simultaneously to increase my supply, as I was at the stage where I got about 1/2 ounce to an ounce per sitting. So on the advice of the lactation consultant at the breastfeeding clinic and some other advice from on here and other ladies, I did the following things:

Ate porridge every morning for breakfast
Drank 2-3 cups of fennel tea each day
Motilium 3 times a day for a couple of weeks (lactation consultant advised)
Pumped very regularly, every 2-3 hours but sometimes would be every 4 or so hrs

Because you're not at the low point I was, I would think you wouldn't have to get quite so intensive with your regime unless you wanted to do so just to make sure. You could very well just get away with it by pumping regularly. I was advised to put baby to the breast for as long as he would stay on it (that was an issue too), then to pump after each feeding. Because he was also having formula and therefore not eating as often as he would with breastmilk, I would also do a pump session inbetween his feeds.

The thing with pumping is it can be very all-consuming with time so only you will know how often you can pump and all that.

But since you've just had a lower supply for only a matter of hours now, it's also possible it's just a temporary thing and you'll get back to normal. Was there anything that put off your routine in the last couple of days, or was baby not feeding as much off you, etc...? Those things could rectify very quickly and you might not need to consider these other options just yet.

Thanks Minstermind, I think I'm going to have to try something to keep up what milk I have... I've been breastfeeding Gabriella every feed & topping her up with formula, but I've been nervous about expressing between feeds in case I was robbing the milk from her next feed if you know what I mean! Gabriella always always wants held too and I've yet to figure out how to do that & express, so I've not expressed in about two weeks :( Most of the time if I'm holding her she'll be in a mei tai, but she's too wee to go in a back carry yet so my boobs are covered up by her!

But inspired by your thread I've just laid her down and figured even if she only sleeps 10 minutes, 10 min expressing is better than none... I hope!

Aside from the feeding things are alright-ish. I've also been told I've got borderline postnatal depression... I think it is a combination of feeling like a failure because I couldn't give birth & couldn't exlusively breastfeed, and haven't got her in much of a routine, and culture shock of having gone from a fairly well respected professional to a SAHM. I'm just a bit lonely I guess...

Plus it feels like Mo's life had barely changed, though he's making a lot more of an effort since I explained how I'm struggling. But he had been out at the pub till midnight, if not later, 5 or 6 times a week. I never wanted to be the wife who said he couldn't do this or that, I've always found it really cringe-worthy to see grown men seeking permission from their partners for anything, but what do you do when they're just not seeing what their priorities should be?!

Anyway, it has been inproving, so I guess I just have to stop being so proud and actually ask for the help that I need! I just detest feeling weak.

ETA: What does the porridge do and can you buy fennel tea in supermarkets?

Thought I'd take 5 mins to update everyone while Jess is asleep and the boys are out at Dan's (my 12-year-old step-son) Parent Evening (didn't think it was fair taking Jess)...

Jess seems to have recovered from/gotten over her acid reflux (we noticed about a week ago that the Gaviscon was actually making her worse!!) but has started having projectile vomitting at about 6-9 (depending on when her feed is) each evening - But only once durring this time and then she's fine. Doctors seem to think she's an expert at being sick and is just making herself sick... She lost weight last week due to a cold, but has now put weight back on :)

I've been feeling better, but still getting off days when I feel as if I never get any time to myself :( Then I feel guilty and selfish!!

How is everyone else doing?
