***April Sweet Peas*** 204 Babies

Congratulations Lour29! That is quite some birth story, I guess she was in a hurry to meet her mummy! :flow:

Well I am officially 38 weeks now, just 7 days to go till I meet my wee one! :cloud9:

I'm so utterly grateful now that I know when they are going to arrive and don't have to be scared of hanging on till 41+, you have my sympathies :hugs: Who ever thought I'd be saying I was glad of the scheduled c-section?! :dohh:

ETA: Ignore the ticker, it is a timezone problem, just think of it as a countdown to me being admitted to the ward (21st) rather than to the CS (22nd)!

Congrats to all the new mummies I have to say that I am very jeAlous and wish it was me :(. I feel incredibly sick this morning and the usual tightenings but still pregnant lol... Xxx

ditto.. I feel drained today and was awake most of the night feeling sick and a churning stomach. Got a headache too. Grrrrr.. I'm hoping I'll perk up as the day goes on.
Hope you feel better too. xxxx

CONGRATS to all the April mummies that have their bundles and GOOD LUCK to those of us that are still waiting ;)

Front page is looking really good mommyof3girls, you must've been busy sorting all of that out!

Happy Due date to me!!!! But everything seems to have gone quite now!!

There is some light at the end of the tunnel tho, got a sweep booked sat!

Happy due date MiniKat!

I keep mistaking wind for pains! I haven't had any braxton hicks so I've no idea what I'm looking out for.

Got midwife appointment in about an hour so fingers crossed for a sweep then some actual happenings. Really had enough of two nights running of feeling like she is clawing her way out the exit using my pelvis as hand grips (may or may not actually represent what is occurring in there)

OH has gotten permission (from myself) to build himself a new computer and said on phone earlier that he will order all part tonight and then can build it when lil one arrives or his next set of rest days which ever comes first. My reply was likely will be his rest days, and he has only just started the first day of his 6 day rotation lol

Good luck KittenKat, I hope your sweep works.

I really really hope my little man doesn't come late. My little sister (she's 18!) was going to come and stay with me for a week after DH has to go back to work but she's going to Fiji in 4 weeks for 6 weeks. So desperately hoping my sweep on Monday does more than what the one I had this week did! Or that I am extremely favourable and can be induced! :haha:

My little JJ is here

 HE was born yesterday morning @ 10.26am after what seemed forever!!
I'm still in hospital now so will update my post with the birth story soon as i can

Congrats to all new April moms and good luck to all future April moms!!!

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

OK, here goes what may turn into a very long post...

Saw my midwife (Emily) yesterday - When I got there she had a second midwife with her (Tracey) who just happens to be the midwife I see at the hospital each time I see the consultant. Told them both all that had been said by the consultant and they could hardly believe what I was telling them. They were totally shocked at the things he had said and that he'd been so awkward with trying to help us to get the birth we want. They both agreed that breaking my waters and putting me on a drip (the consultants plan for 41+4) IS induction of labour, even though the consultant says that it's not (which I knew anyway, but just wanted to hear it from someone else). They told me all I needed to know about being able to request a new named consultant, which put my mind at rest. Plus Emily promised me that as she's the only one who will be seeing me between now and the birth she will NOT let me go past 41 weeks without a C-Sec. After talking to both midwives for about 30-40 mins they agreed they would chase things up today and call me back with the new plan-of-action...

So... Emily's just called me to say that we are back to Plan-A: C-Sec booked on 28 April @ 40+2, which means I have to go in for my pre-op on my due date.

Feeling loads better now :) Due date is Mon 26 April, but if little Jessica decides to follow in her brother's footsteps (16 days late) then she will be delivered by C-Sec on Wed 28 April :)

Congrats to the new April mums by the way xx

Sounds like good news then kimmyjane84! Good to have the midwives sort it all out. x

Congratulations Birmz85 and Lourn29! Just looked back through the last couple pages so if I missed anyone else, congrats to all the new moms! :)

Great news Kimmyjane84, your mind must really be set at ease now after all the hustle and bustle to get to this point.

For all the overdue moms, hang in there, not much longer now I reckon! :)

Kimmyjane84 how come your son was 16 days late??? i thought they only let people go two weeks overdue?

Long story... Which I really hope doesn't scare anyone due to be induced over the next few days, as I'm sure it's not "the norm"...

I had 3 due dates: Sat 29 Nov 2008 (according to dating scan - which is the date they HAVE to use), Thurs 4 Dec (according to LMP) and Sun 7 Dec (according to an early scan we had to have due to a bleed)...

Between 40-42 weeks (according to EDD of 29 Dec) I had 2 sweeps, which did nothing to help things along :( I was given a date for induction at my second sweep and went in to be induced at 7:30am on Sat 13 Dec (42 weeks exactly).

SAT 13 DEC: They gave me a pessary in the morning, which made very little difference. They gave me a second pessary in the afternoon, which again made very little difference. I stayed in over night (as did hubby) with the hope that things would get started on their own that night.

SUN 14 DEC: Still no sign of Harry and I was still only about 1cm dilated. The midwife didn't want to mess us around any more than was required, so said she would get a consultant to see us that morning to decide if they should use a third pessary or try to break my waters and put me on to a drip. By lunchtime, I still hadn't seen a consultant and there was still no sign of Harry being on his way. They were still monitoring him though and he was showing no signs of distress. I had tea on the ward and was then told that they were waiting on a labour room so that they could break my waters and get me on to a drip (although I still hadn't seen the consultant). I finally got to my room at about 8pm!! They tried to break my waters and attach a monitoring clip to Harry's head, but I had no fore-waters so they just attached the clip. They then put me on to the drip, which REALLY got things moving. I had gas & air and also diamorphine injections.

MON 15 DEC: After 14-15 hours on the drip Harry was back-to-back and I'd gone from 8cm back to 6cm dilated :( Harry was trying to help things along and had managed to get himself stuck (as I have a low pubic arch). So a surgeon/consultant came to see me and it was decided that I would need to have an emergency C-Sec. I was taken off of the drip (at which point my contractions totally stopped, even though they'd been regular with the drip in place) and straight into theatre for my spinal block. At 11:29am Harry was delivered by C-Sec :) He didn't breath on his own for a while, but was otherwise fine (just wanted to give us a scare!!).

All-in-all it was an awful experience and is the main reason that we've opted for a C-Sec at only 2 days over this time around. However, I still hope that Jessica decides to make an appearance prior to this date so that we can at least try for a natural birth (trial-of-scar/VBAC).

Again, sorry if you are due to be induced and have been put-off/upset/worried by this post, as I think it really is a worse-case scenario and we were just really unlucky.

Well had sweep with the non usual midwife, but thankfully was not the other non normal one I had seen previously (didn't like her for some reason). This one was lovely and I am pretty sure the one that gave me my anti D jab. Got my induction ready booked just in case it will be needed but hoping that it won't be.

2cm dilated partially effaced and soft so signs are good seeing as was only 1cm dilated on Easter Sunday. So generally keeping my fingers crossed so I can deliver at the birthing centre instead of the ward.

Is that Bracken Ward/Centre hunni? We went to have a look around when we were expecting Harry and it's really lovely :)

Glad things are looking good and will keep fingers crossed that all goes well for you x
