I'm a scraper. Although I do switch the engine on with the heat going up against the windscreen then work my way around the car and do the windscreen last so it's easier by then

I do this ^^^

My DH winges when i use de icer as the chemicals in it 'rots the rubber round the windows' Lol so if its really icy i buy some and hide it

little tip - don't buy the de-icer in cans! it freezes your hand whilst you use it
i buy the spray type ones.
