Are you going to have the flu jab?

I don't think being prone to catching colds has anything to do with the flu, one is caused by rhinovirus and one by influenza virus.

I got my jab on tuesday. I had a flu ten years ago and will never forget it. I thought I was going to die. flu is dangerous for pg women and there is not really much else you can do to prevent getting it.

I get a jab yearly due to asthma anyway, so had one last year when pregnant with DD and had mine yesterday for this pregnancy.

Yes, I'll be getting it in the next few weeks.

I actually caught swine flu when I was 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I was hospitalised, but I recovered fine. Baby was fine too. The doctors think having the flu jab prevented the virus having too bad an impact on me, so that's the reason I'll be having it again. I would also say that I had never had the flu in my whole life until pregnant, so I guess being immunocompromised during pregnancy can increase our chances of getting it.

I'm another that hasn't heard about nasal spray not being allowed with pregnant women, there was nothing in the info leaflet DD brought home

I phoned the number a nurse is going to ring me back i need to speak to a nurse apparently

I will ask DD teacher when she returns after half term if she shouldn't be getting then as DS is under a year as well

Flu jab doesnt cause MC, your given non live viruses. All your body does is make antibiotics to fight these viruses off if you later come in contact with them. This takes 10-14 days.

It is advised that pregnant women get flu jab even if you didn't do this before getting pregnant but really its your choice. I started getting flu jab few years back (After having the flu while pregnant) and due to asthma and have seen a huge improvement. I had it about 2w ago now, i feel normal, its the whooping cough jab you need to look into to whether you feel it will benefit baby or not.

Nurse rang back only reason it's on the form saying u need to phone them is so they can remind you that as your pregnant u also need flu jab lol x

I got it 2 days after my bfp. We had the clinic here at work and that's how I had to tell my boss lol. Anyways, it's recommended for pregnant women over here at least. I'm really surprised that some dr's WOULDN'T recommend it

I am 5 weeks, and I had my done two days ago! I work in a hospital so there wasn't any choices for me x

I had it with our first and just had it at 10weeks with our 2nd.
Each time, I asked for "preservative free."

My DH got the shot as well, and our DD had the spray.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Had mine a couple of weeks ago and DS is due the spray on Tuesday.

I got the preservative flu shot about two days after BFP. I was already planning on getting one anyway. I spoke with the specialist and they said to still go for it even if I couldn't get preservative free. In their hospital they research it every single year and find that the preservative is such a small amount that the risk of not getting it while pregnant outweighs the risk of getting the flu.

My local pharmacy had the preservative free in stock, so I got that anyway and the pharmacist said they would only do the one with preservative as a last result due to shortage.

I do find that I am sicker in general years I do not get the flu shot. I get less colds and such even when I get the flu shot. It is worth it to me.
