oh Beth, how frustrating! Is he still bf/ff or just on solids? Is he getting some molers?

I have such an eater that I can't even imaging how hard it must be to see your LO not want to eat. I'm sure it will happen to us one day and boy, will it be a shock!

:hugs:

hello AP chums...r u feeling better now nkbapbt?

i've had a really naff week! its been raining and grey and me and Kian have had waaaay too many pj days. I feel quite guilty for not really doing much with him. he went out with nanny on tues but other than we've been hanging out on the play mat in the living room most of the time :-( i haven't been to baby group or singing or anything with him! tsk tsk tsk!

We did just have a bath 2gether and we're off to swimming 2moro which makes me feel slightly less rubbish!

Hows everyone else doing?

He self weaned at 19mo :( So now he's just on regular food, as he's over 2, he takes regular milk and rice milk for that part though. He's never been a big eater, occasionally he would shock us and eat tons but that was rare. But now for 3 days...this is the 4th and his breakfast was a "bagelful" (it's a bagel that's filled with cream cheese) he ate half...which is only about 2in of it..not much. But he seriously has barely eaten...I weighed him to day to make sure he hasn't lost anything, he's only lost a few ounces so we are ok. Weight has been a struggle with him for so long, he was bit at 7mo weighing 19lbs 8oz....he's now almost 26mo and finally got him to 25lbs...he was stuck at 22 for the longest time. He did just get one molar in, and another is about to start breaking through, so it could have something to do with it. But with his amber necklace teeth haven't been a problem at all so I don't know

Oh no, I hope Hayden starts eating well again soon.

We are tentatively starting BLW this week, Freya doesn't seem that bothered yet, hopefully she will start swallowing in the next few weeks!

I went to stay with my mum last night and we had a really bad night of Freya not sleeping, she made me feel awful for not letting her CIO or giving her something to 'fill her up before bed'. Her exact words were 'I wouldn't have a baby like that, if she was mine she would be asleep'. :(

Upset me a bit that she doesn't trust me to do things my way, she still treats me like a child.

How frustrating that your own mom doesn't trust you to mother. grrrr!

Lots of :hugs:

I hope that Hayden starts eating again soon!

:hugs: Kirsten...Mums can b such a pain sometimes. My mum wont ever listen to anything i say! in her eyes i'm still about 10!!

I know its sometimes hard for parents to grasp that u might want to do things differently to them and u might not want or need their advice. i'm sure she means well and i'm sure she only wants to look out for u but its still annoying isn't it?
Do u think she tries to get u to do things 'her way' beacuse she feels like it validates her own skills as a parent?/ she finds it insulting to her parenting skills that ur choosing to do things differently? IYKWIM? i think thats my mums issue anyway.

IMO different parenting techniques work for different people...i don't think any one style in particular is the 'right way'. i think its all about picking what works best for YOU and what YOU feel is best for ur LO. Stick to ur guns Kirsten ur doing a great job!

sorry slightly off subject but mummyof3...whats ur 'rear facing carseats' blinky all about (obviously i get that its about car seats! doh! i mean could u explain it more to me? :p)?

I am feeling better thank you for asking!

Wow thats frustrating Kirsten. I thought for sure my mom would be the same way, thankfully she's been really supportive.

Im sending lots of hungry lets eat vibes to Hayden. Love that name btw.

Sure

Well I'm all for "extended rear facing". The laws are different everywhere, but here in the US it's they have to ride rear facing until 1yr AND 20lbs....so past that is considered extended. But it's 500% safer for babies ages 1-2 to ride rear facing, there margin of it being safer starts to go down after that but it's actually shown safer for everyone ride rear facing. Here are some videos I really like

Thank you!! I was reading another post from you somewhere else on the forum today and really just noticed your son's name...not sure why I hadn't before haha...but I was thinking wow I really like that name!

Awe thank you! We made it up. I wanted to name him Kai. But my hubby Kyle said it was too much like his name. So I went through all the possibilities, Makai, Takai...whatever and loved Lakai. But he said no because its also a skate shoe name brand..but I didnt know that!

So in the delivery room I wrote the name I wanted on a piece of paper..."Lakai Hamilton Kraft" and he said ok! I win.

Funny enough...its the last sound in my name NicoLA and the first sound in my hubbys name KYle. So it works on so many levels. Plus Im half Hawaiian and it's a derivative of Malakai which is Hawaiian, so that works too.

But after all that thank you! LOL

thank u:thumbup:

thats something i'll have to think abt when Kian moves from his newborn carseat (can't remember when thats meant to happen...1 yrs or a certain weight depending on what comes first i think).

His current car seat is rear facing but i've always wondered whats gonna happen with his feet as he gets bigger and if he keeps facing that way coz they already hit the back of the back seat IYKWIM?

^^ Edward too. He's already in a convertable car seat but his feet are touching the seat. He's such a big, long baby.

I bought a Britax First Plus and have it rear facing. It terrifies me to think of people bumping in to the back of me though, like Freya is too far away for me to protect her! :dohh:

Actually the feet touching aren't a safety issue at all...you can see Hayden with his legs bent a bit. Many kids are actually MORE comfortable rear facing, they have somewhere to prop their feet up :) Hayden had to go forward for awhile and he was soooo much happier when we moved him back rear facing. My 4yr old even wants to ride RF lol but I dont have a seat that he can do that in right now. If you watch your baby when sitting on the couch, playing on the floor they actually probably bend them up like they would in the seat....its comfy for kids.

Hello - mind if I join you all?!

I'm Kate, 25, live in sunny(!) Plymouth, Devon with my husband Sam (been together for nearly 11 years, met at secondary school!) with our gorgeous son William Edward!

From reading a bit about AP the last couple days, it seems thats sort of what I'm doing! Just doing everything by trusting my instinct....reading Williams cues and acting accordingly! Seems so natural, don't think I'd be able to act any other way (does that sound daft? Not sure how to word what I mean!).

Have been BF exclusively for nearly 14 weeks, would love to co-sleep, but husband very wriggly in bed and although we tried it neither of us could relax enough to sleep! So William in a basket right next to the bed so I don't have to get up at night to see him/touch or feed him. Don't CIO or CC, W doesn't always like the carrier I've got (considering a moby though) but tend to carry him loads....occasionally leave him playing on his mat if he's happy while I do housework, else I just take him around with me! I'm very interested in BLW and aim to BF til about 9 months I think, originally 6 months but I'm enjoying it so much and so's he I could cry thinking about not doing it anymore! So daft!

Will try and read back on previous threads to get to know who everyone is :)
