Christmas shopping!!!!!!! Well some, I plan to do most next Friday...on Black Friday!!! Woohooo can't wait!!!

xmas shopping yesterday (sat) then pj day 2day coz its manky out...gonna cook a roast in a min :p yummy yum yum

I haven't really done any xmas shopping yet and everyone else seems to have done loads! We aren't doing a big xmas this year, I know it's Freya's first one but she will have no idea what's going on, we're only getting her a few little bits. Saving it for next year! We went out yesterday to a play centre place and today I have been making fudge for FIL's bday and cleaning. It's raining loads or else we would have gone for a walk.

:)

don't worry we haven't done much...usually i leave it til a week b4 xmas but this year i thought i'd try being orgnised. We're not getting Kian loads of presents...we've got him one toy and then we're gonna get him a few things that he needs anyway but wrap them up 4 him. i know other people will b getting him things and like u said, he's not really going to understand whats going on.
we always spend christmas with a group of my friends so we end up with quite a few people to buy things for (and we all get each other stockings too) and my and OH r in charge of the communial food budget so thought i'd start getting some of it out the way.

making fudge sounds cool...i tried once but it never set. And i tried making toffee once too but that set too much (i ended up throwing it on the floor along with the oven dish it was in and the ovan dish smashed but the toffee stayed whole!!! doh!) i've since given up making anything like that!

Today we are going to church and then watching football. It's the playoffs of the CFL so we can't miss a game... not that we miss a game during the regular season either :dohh:

This is the second recipe I have tried, the first didn't set. I have been poking this batch all afternoon and it is not hard enough yet. I'm not sure how you get it to set properly, the people who make these recipes seem to manage! :dohh:

I don't know how Mark makes his fudge but it's really yummy, maybe I can ask, I know his always comes out right.

We only got a bit of shopping done. This is actually the first time we've started this year. I can't wait until next week though, Black Friday, the best shopping day ever...and the CRAZIEST!!!! That's when I'll do most.

Right now I'm waiting on my MIL and her boyfriend to get here, he is going to help Mark and see if he can fix the toilet so a plumber doesn't have to come tomorrow and cost us tons of money. I think she might take the older 2 boys tonight...but I'm not sure, I haven't left them since the night Hayden was born..not sure if I want to.

black friday? y is it called black friday? i think theres a black friday in bridwater (where lots of OHs family r from)...or maybe its a black sunday? can't remember but its the day after the carnival (sometime sin Nov)...i think their black friday has something to do with everyone being stupidly hung over and all the shops being shut tho.

good luck fixing the toilet x

Hey my OHs family live in Bridgwater too! And yeah whatever the black day is it's to do with being hungover, lol. The carnival is great, have you been?

Don't know what black friday is over there though.

Beth that would be great if you asked him how he made his fudge! Thanks! :)

wow small world! yeah i went a few years back...its really cool! i had a touch too much local cider tho
i wanna take Kian next year. maybe if u guys end up going next year we could meet up!!!? we could take our matching slings! :haha:
i can't believe the effort that goes into the floats. OHs cousin and her OH r in one of the float 'teams'...i think her OH does the sound/music on the float or something?!

Oh my god we were going to go next year! Yay! I liked the squibbing best, but yeah, the floats were amazing, I never expected them to be so big and elaborate, and bright!

Where abouts is your OH from?

My understanding is that Black Friday is the day after the US Thanksgiving when a whole lot of sales happen and Christmas shopping begins.

If I'm wrong, maybe an American can correct me :)

Makes sense! Seriously good idea to have the sales before Christmas - we have 'January Sales' over here, so it's good to spend any money you got for Christmas but I think I prefer the idea of buying presents in a sale!

our January sales r abt shops selling left over christmas stock tho so a pre christmas 'january' sale wouldn't really work over here. i think there'll b quite a few pre chirstmas sales this year tho to encourage present buying during all this recesstion business.

OHs from portsmouth (where we currently live) but his dads side of the family all come from bridwater...His aunty and uncle used to run the rifflemans pub up there (i think thats what it was called) so is ur OH from there or just his family?

Yep Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and all the stores have amazing sales. It's completely insane, like stores start opening at midnight, some 3am. There are tons of people....it's nuts. I love it though, some people actually fight over stuff...yeah not me haha. But I love getting a good deal.

I'll ask Mark tonight about the fudge, he's at work now :) I'm pretty sure he uses marshmellow fluff in it? Do yall have that?

Lol, I wasn't suggesting we had a december january sale!!! I just never have any money after xmas, so before would be better! Lol!

Oh is from Bridgwater, all his family and friends live there, so we try to go down quite often. The Riflemans pub rings a bell - can't remember where it is though. I lived with OHs family for 6/7 months before we moved up here so I know it quite well down there. They live just outside town but all his friends live in the centre. Also I have a friend at Portsmouth Uni this year! :)

Beth we have marshmallows, which I have been using in the fudge, like whole ones. Is that the same? :)

No it's almost like melted marshmellows...kinda hard to explain but you can spread it. This is what ours looks like

Never seen it before! Wonder if they sell it here, and which shops?
