Babies that were due in may 2012

Anti: did you guys ever get Ashlynn's tt snipped?

We went to the specialist and they said coz she'd been on the bottle for 3 weeks with no problems they didn't consider it to be causing a feeding problem so decided against snipping it.

Thank you everyone. Saw the nurse at the doctors and Lola does have a temperature so giving her the baby calpol.

Youngni thanks for the info, I didn't know there was a calpol nasal spray/drops. I did find some nasal drops for newborns so seeing if they help. I just hope she's better soon as its horrible seeing her poorly. We are spending the day on the sofa with a good book.

Zephyr I hope aria continues to do well.

Ummm lack of sleep has made me forget what else I was replying to!

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on for awhile we have been so busy and have very busy few weeks coming up. My parents are over from the U.S. for the next month and we have the following schedule to look forward to:

Tomorrow: London to register Sam's birth at U.S. Embassy and apply for passport
Next Monday-Friday: Holiday boat trip on the Norfolk Broads
Saturday: Day music festival in Kent (Sam staying with Grandma and Grandpa)
The following Monday: Olympic tickets to U.S. vs Brazil Women's Volleyball
Tuesday: Olympic Tickets to Men's Fencing
Thursday: Going back to London to see Jersey Boys (Sam staying home with Daddy)
The next tuesday/wed: Overnight trip to Stonehenge and Bath
Friday: Nana arrives
Saturday: Olympic Football final (Sam staying with nana)
Sunday: Nana leaves
Then Wed Grandma and Grandpa go home.

I'm afraid Sam isn't going to know if he is coming or going and his schedule is already blown out of the window. It's nice to do these things but worry they will be at the expense of my little boy. My husband kept looking for my olympic tickets and I told him to stop because I didn't want to keep dragging Sam to London (he doesn't see why it is such a big deal).

Yazzy- I hope the nasal drops help Lola, I know how groggy and yuck I feel with a cold, it must be horrible to feel it and not understand why!

Zepher- Glad to hear Aria is still doing better. Fingers crossed this is the answer to the problem :)

Kwood- Thats a busy few weeks!! Is the football final in London? I know a lot of the matches are in Cardiff.

All I can say here is: Colic is the devil!

Just got off the phone to the dietician and from what it sounds like from Arias bowel motions and how shes acted on each formula the pepti junior sounds like the best formula to have her on. So we have to trial it again with the ratinidine and see if it works this time....except now its not going to cost us an arm and a leg because we finally have the script for it! If after 2 weeks its not working then they will try another formula

Zephyr: if the soy is working well for her why change it

The pediatrician called today with Gabe's test results. He does have a milk allergy, and is anemic from all the blood loss. We have to repeat his blood work in another week to make sure his levels go up. We are now starting a hypoallergenic formula, hopefully we'll see some improvements in the next few days.

The dietician I spoke to was the one at the hospital who we were referred to
They said they don't like under 6 months on soy, that its not the ideal choice and because her poos were normal and regular on pepti they would like her to trial it for two weeks again then go on it permanently if theres no weight drop off.

I told her last time we struggled to get her to drink 100 mls of it and she ended up very acidy and screamed a lot but she said thats common and to stick it out cos the ratinidine may help this time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a bit annoyed about changing formula again but they really don't like babies on soy here for some reason? its weird, I even said its been the best so far and that pepti was the second best and she still said to go with the pepti cos "they dont like the little ones on soy"

The reason our referral was declined too is because my doctor said we had her on goats milk for 3 weeks and he never said to them it had stopped working! As far as the hospital was concerned the goats milk was fine so that is why they refused to see us.
So there you have it! Answers finally and how long did that take? Too long!

Zephyr: you know, I think I read that soy wasn't the first choice if under 6 months, but I would think if it was used after multiple formulas, it would think it would be better to stay on it rather than keep changing. You probably have a small fortune in opened tins of formula!

I nearly had a stroke this morning. Woke up to oh getting ready for work and realized Gabe hadn't woken up once through the night. Normally he is up every 3 hours like a clock! I seriously thought he was dead... It's nearly 530 and he's still sleeping! I'm really hoping it's not a fluke, cause I like feeling like a human being... Makes the price tag of this formula worth it

Are you using Alimentum? Hannah sleeps better since we switched to it.

No we are on nutramigen. I liked the Alimentum cause it's ready to feed, but I liked the price tag of the nutramigen better... It worked out to be 10 bucks a week cheaper...

Ashlynn chucked up today and it came out her nose and everything. She never ever throws up!! She's been unsettled and screaming since then. The only thing I can think of is this morning (without thinking) I gave her the bottle of breast milk that had been on the side all night (coz she slept through). I feel so awful!!! Hopefully it'll be out her system soon and she'll be back to normal by tomorrow. :(

Oh okay. I heard some babies can't handle the taste of the Nutramigen so I never wanted to try it. We get the Alimentum through WIC which is a huge relief otherwise we'd never be able to afford it. We get the ready to feed and it's such a convenience.

Bumpin - Ooo that is scary when they do that!! Good that he slept well though :D
Oh you wouldn't believe how much I have chucked away! Just last night I found a full tin of the AR formula from ages ago at the back of our cupboard, opened so can't do anything with it except bin it.
We just opened our second tin of soy too lol so that will end up in the bin no doubt
OH feels so bad about all the tins we have wasted that he has kept the milk ones and adds that to his protein shakes :haha: ewwww
I tried to phone her back yesterday to ask about soy again, trying to get a full run down on why its so bad if its working but she wasn't in the office, will try again on Monday but have done as advised and started her on the pepti again. She slept all night as usual but woke up so grumpy lol and refused to drink it, took a bit of convincing but she did in the end.

When I went to the pharmacy to pick up her prescription I was surprised to learn that the formula is fully funded! phew what a relief!

Aria has started rolling onto her side so we have stopped using her swaddle wraps, shes adjusting very nicely.
I brought a tummy time gym thing that lights up and plays music, its really cute and Max loves it! he smiles and coos at it.
I'm very thankful Max is really easy baby, my easiest baby ever! As long as we are careful not to let him get overtired he is really good. It makes dealing with Aria so much easier.
Its funny watching these two, Max always grins from ear to ear when his sister is crying haha what a meanie!

Man if the Nutrimagen smells "bad" compared to Alimentum I'm glad we never tried it! I have gotten used to the smell of it though and its not so bad.

Bumpin I'm glad they figured out what is wrong and honestly I felt the same way about the hypoallergenic formula the first few days Jackson was on it! It was like night and day.

Jackson is on the rantidine too and it worked really well for the first couple weeks.. now I'm noticing he's back to spitting up acid again :/ anyone else had this issue and know what I should do? Will the Dr up his dose or will they try something different? I feel so bad for him because its well over an hour after he eats so I know it has to feel painful and disgusting for him :(

Aw I read online that that has happened to people! Aria has only been on it a week and she is okay, we missed one dose though and boy oh boy did we pay so I really hope it doesn't stop working.
I would go back to your doctor about it, maybe they will up the dosage a little? I'm not sure

Kendra: when was the Zantac ordered? It's usually weight based, and as your little guy gets bigger he's going to need a higher dose. How much were you giving him? Gabe gets 15 mg, and can take it 2 times per day.

Waves: does Alimentum come in a powdered form? All I can find is the ready to feed tins. Even concentrate would be great. I hate the waste of ready to feed, we have enough garbage to take out as it is,and I'm even cloth diapering! I think we might be trying Alimentum. The nutramigen seems to make Gabe really gassy. I'm giving it a few more days to see if he starts to level out. OH is looking into his insurance (he's military, so it's a fairly good plan) to see if we can get some of the formula costs covered.

So now we have had 2 nights of sleep! Yesterday I let Gabe wake up on his own, but he was so hungry, that he ate too fast and puked most of it up. I woke him up today to eat, so that he only went 7 hours between feeds and so far so good! I love waking HIM up for a change!

Alimentum comes in a powdered form as well. It's a smaller can though. I know Target around here has them as does most grocery stores. We had one or two cans of the powdered before being told Ready to Feed was better for them (it's the only formula where RTF and powdered are different. Powdered is made with corn while the RTF is made with tapioca.) I've heard that Nutramigen can make them gassy which is another reason I didn't want to try it.

Good to know! I'm giving this one a few more days. I hate changing his formula so frequently...

Sucks changing them aye, I hate doing it too but I guess you need to find something that works well.
We had a good night, Aria slept through again and Max did too! yay!!
