Here is my silhouette - obviously not taken recently! It's DH against the snow, I think it was Feb this year?

Edit: Will post my silhouette pic later today!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. It was a complete mess. This is the closest thing to a silhouette I could find. I'm sooo hungover, don't judge me. :haha:

So is today 'long exposure!'?

Not sure how I'm going to manage that on the crappy iPhone 3 ...will have to get creative. Am not feeling creative.

My iPhone 5 arrived today so once I have that set up you will notice muchos better photos.

I'm in the same boat as you, Nicki. I don't know if I even own a functioning camera that allows me to do long exposure... I'm a bit under the weather today, so I will explore my options and post a picture tomorrow.

Okay, so this is by no means a great example of the amazing things long-exposure photography can do, but I haven't really experimented with it much at all. So I set my exposure to 5 seconds and shined a laser light on the wall to write you gals a message. Hopefully my laser handwriting is legible.

Maybe tonight I will have a clear enough sky to take photos of some star trails or something. But it's been cloudy lately. :(

I don't even know what long exposure means!

I don't even know what long exposure means!

Exposure length is the amount of time that the camera shutter is open, so basically it takes a longer amount of time to take a picture.

My exposure length was 5 seconds, so that means that I hit the button, and the camera took one picture over a total of 5 seconds.

You know those professional photos of waterfalls, where the water looks all blurry and dreamy? It looks like that because of long exposure.

I don't think most cell phones have the ability to do long-exposure photography. I have a DSLR camera, so that's how I did mine. You could check any of your digital cameras for long-exposure options, or see how far down you can turn your ISO.

Here is my attempt. I think it would have worked better with some combination of 1) a real camera, 2) a tripod, and 3) nighttime lighting, but you can sort of see that the breeze was blowing the trees in the background. I think the long exposure setting on the app I used was about 4-5 seconds... But who knows.

It's a Mickey Mouse sprinkler attachment in my parents' back yard. My mom is out of town and OH is working, so my dad and I are going to dinner tonight.

Tx good work, I must go hunt down that app!
I cheated as I hate to miss a photo challenge...so here is a photo of a long exposure shot from t'internet. Ok this is Cheating and is undoubtedly the worst photo in the photo challenge, will get better Mrs Snack!

(where for art thou lovely Snack???)

Last night was too cloudy for star trail photos, plus the lights from the city were too bright. :(

Also, I didn't feel like sitting in the yard with my camera for an hour or more. (No way I'm leaving it out there unattended!)

Your first photo was pretty cool GP, I think you can rest now :)

Haha, thanks. But now I want to play with that type of photography. My curiosity has been piqued!
