BFP and overweight?

Sneaking in from 2nd tri - I was 5'4" and 290 lbs when I got my BFP. I have lost weight/not gained anythign so far at 19 weeks. Baby is perfectly healthy. Not sure if any of my complications (sickness, aches and pains, etc) are a result of being overweight, but it definitely made me nervous! Next time around I'd like to lose some weight and see how different it is.

Im also obese. Bigger then you girls and im 5'10. My pregnancy has gone without any problems but im also only 7 weeks in. I have only had a few times when MS took over. I am a little worried about that because ive read that bigger girls get sicker. My doctors have expressed any major concern about my waight or even mentioned C-Section. My general Doctor did say about me weight but said we arent doing anything till after your pregnancy. Ive alctually lost 22 pounds just by cutting our soda and eating smaller portions. I don't know if that is good but I feel better. Good luck, Congrats and enjoy pregnancy! Try not to worry too much!

I'm trying not to worry. Just want this little bean to stick.:happydance:

I've got a BMI of 33.8 currently. I've been working at trying to lose 80lbs since November. I managed to hit exactly 20lbs down just this last weekend, found out I was pregnant again on Tuesday! I know they say that trying to lose weight is bad, so I'm trying to come to terms that I'm going to regain the 20lbs that I just lost!

I'm at the exact same weight I was when I got pregnant with DS, 2.5 years ago. I lost about 13lbs with morning sickness, then gained 65lbs by end. I certainly do not want to gain that much this time! My research has said I can expect to gain as little as 15lbs, so I've worked out how to gain as little as 15 and no more than 20. :) I've been counting calories to lose weight since November, so I decided to just keep the habit up, only count calories to gain weight instead! Also plan to go for walks throughout the summer, and maybe some swimming.

When I go to the doctor, I aim to ask if its OK if I try to gain less than 15, considering my size. :)

I am overweight and was with my first 2 also....I have easy pregnancies. Try not to stress the weight!!

I think I've actually lost weight in the last week. I've gone off food entirely. The only food I want is salad and fruit.

I've had MS for 6 days but I'm ok once I've been sick I pretty much ok xxx

Thanks for the reassurance girls. I feel so bloated! Anyone else get this?

Yeah the bloating is all normal no matter what size you are. My belly goes rock hard by the evening and is so uncomfortable....Yuck!

Hi! With my first I think my bmi was around 29/30 and now with my second it is 33 :)

Hi,
I am also overweight, my BMI is around 32.
My midwife didn't have any concerns with this and after she had taken my full history etc she classed me as a low risk pregnancy. So i am not too worried really.

I am going to try and not gain massive amounts of weight, so i have continued to exercise which i think is helping.

But i too am VERY bloated! I already look like i'm 4 months pregnant!!!
Hope you ladies are all okay
xx

Im really bloated, I actually had to wear sweat pants to work today :) blah:wacko:

I am really bloated too. I don't want to worry about my weight along with everything else.

I'm trying not to worry and to just think ahead about how good I'll feel once I have my baby and I can start losing the weight :) x

can i join? i know im 5ft 4 but no idea on my weight coz i hate the scales :(
last time i checked i was about 13stone, and im a size 14/16. Terrified of OH hearing how much i weigh at my appt tomorrow! i weigh more than him.

mummapie, I know what you mean!!! I have my first appointment with the midwife in a few weeks and coincidently we had both already booked that week off so I am sure DH will want to come with me but I really don't want him to know how much I weigh (about 2 stone more than him!!! :-S) eeeek!!!

I've heard that sometimes they do a bit with just you on your own then ask OH to come in after. I will let you know what happens for me tomorrow if you like?

Hello Ladies! I went to see a perinatologist yesterday because I am considered high risk due to age and obesity. I will be 40 when I deliver and I have a BMI of 37. I was essentially told that I was probably going to have a child with some type of problem b/c of these two things. I left that place feeling like a loser. Looking back on it now, I can't believe that I sat there and listened to that crap. He sounded like an insurance salesman trying to sell me a policy. He just kept going on about all of the available tests that I can take. I finally said that I wasn't interested in terminating my pregnancy no matter what, so I don't want any invasive procedures, and he just nodded his head at me. It was upsetting. I weighed exactly 196 at delivery with both of my daughters. I gained 50 pounds my first pregnancy. I only gained 14 pounds during pregnancy with my second daughter. This time I am starting out at 220 and at the end of the first trimester I have put on 2.8 pounds. I'm not thrilled about my weight, but it is what it is. I'm pregnant and don't have much choice now. sorry for the long post. This is just on my mind so much with this pregnancy. I'd love to be able to talk with others that can understand. Thanks!

I was around 56lbs overweight when I got my bfp :flower: I'm about 48lbs overweight now as I lost weight through morning sickness.

Hun when I went for mine you're in and out quickly for the weighing bit so if you want you don't need your OH in there ;) mine always waits outside then comes back in with me when it's time to get my blood taken or to see my consultant x

Jenifer I can't believe the way the doctor spoke to you. :growlmad: You poor thing!
