BFP and overweight?

Hey someone sent me a link to this forum as I am concerned about piling on weight again. This is my 2nd pregnancy and my daughter has just turned 1. I put on 3 stone on my 1st pregnancy and never got rid of the weight. I really don't want to put that on again! I was pretty lazy with my 1st pregnancy and didn't care what I ate. I used my pregnancy as an excuse to eat what I wanted. I regret that now and am really making an effort to not overeat. Thing is I have always been on the larger side and am very weak when it comes to food. I have no willpower. I only found out last monday that I was pregnant so I've been quite good with food.
My meals are healthy as I love my veggies and always have veggies with rice, pasta, noodles etc. My weakness it snacking in between meals. Foods like chocolate, crisps etc. Also my partner eats like a horse (and is slim). He can eat what he wants and never puts on weight. I tend to snack with him as I can't control myself. During the week he works but if I am home I get bored and snack and at weekends when he's home I snack with him. Terrible I know. But I'm making a conscious effort to be good and I'm doing well. But I know what I'm like and will give in eventually. Just really don't want to do that so GOING to be strong!! I can do it! :)
Congrats and good luck...were here to help :)

Hi ladies, I'm Angie, and have ALWAYS battled my weight.... last year I followed the HCG diet and lost 80 pounds.... I felt so amazing!! but I didn't follow maintenance properly and spent a year putting it all back on.... I am a size 22/24 US and like a couple of you said, I don't look like I weigh what I do, but I do feel it... maybe the weight is adding to my extreme tiredness, I don't know.

I have thought about trying weight watchers, I know there is a program for nursing mothers and thought maybe.... I know baby doesn't need that many extra calories even at full term, and so I am trying not to eat everything I crave.... salt and vinegar pringles... yea, I read someone say that and was like OHHHH YEA thats so me!! anyway, I hope you ladies will let me into your little group, would be nice to have some support of women in my same boat.

Thanks for the kind words. So, what are you ladies drinking? It is such a struggle for me to only be drinking water and milk as that is about all I've figured out. Currently, I'm drinking lots of ginger ale as I still have mild nausea throughout the day.

Me. Don't worry about it too much. You'll be at a higher risk for some things. My doctor only wants me to gain 15 lbs.

I tend to drink 2-3 ltr of sugar free squash a day - i might have a big cup of coffee but it's decaf and it's only 1. Other than that i might have a diet lemonade in the evening... i don't drink diet coke anymore due to the caffeine and i don't really have much fizzy water or soda because it makes me burp continually!!

I am drinking decaff earl gray tea and cans of decaff diet coke, or sometimes just normal diet coke but only 1 per day. I know the limit is a max of 5 diet cokes due to the caffiene but I think I have given up everything else I love so a diet coke now and again feels like an indulgence!!

Had my first appt with the Dr today, she did my blood pressure, had a bit of a chat with me, explained what would happen now and that was pretty much it.

I brought up the fact that I was overweight (although, it's not like I can hide it LOL) and she just said, well, they don't make a big deal of weighing you in pregnancy any more. She told me that she'd actually lost 1 stone during her last pregnancy and managed to put it on again while breastfeedng. she was brilliant and really made me feel comfortable about it all.

So first Midwife appt on Friday morning which I guess will be the one where family history etc will be taken. My OH will come with me for that. My sister came with me today :)

I know - I was sooooo relieved.

We only moved house about 6 months ago so this was actually my first time at the surgery other than to register.

She really couldn't have been nicer :happydance:

Hi! :hi: I've just seen this thread and was wondering if there was room for one more in the group? :)

I'm Anna. I just found out yesterday that we're expecting our 2nd baby :cloud9: I'm overweight (about a size 24 UK, so 22 US/Canada) and only gained 15lbs in my first pregnancy, and lost it all afterwards. I'm 5'9" and weigh about 20 stone  and am trying to be healthy. I just love my food.

I have now cut out just about all caffeine, drinking fizzy water with fruit squash in it, and decaf teas.

I'm just waiting for my appt with the practice nurse (earliest I could get was a week today) and then they will book me in with the midwife.

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and VERY excited!

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hey. I'm 5'8" and weigh about 16st 2lbs now. I was at weightwatchers before I got my bfp as I'm getting married next year. But then the bun came along and that went out the window. I'm hoping to eat a little healthier in the second trimester but for the time being I'm just eating anything that doesn't make me feel sick. Unluckily (or lucky if you're an optimist like me!) all I want it salt and vinegar crisps and chips!!!!
The only thing I don't like is I've always carried all my weight on my belly so have kind of looked pregnant for years. People have asked when I'm due and now it'll be nice to have a date and not have to say I'm not pg!! I just hope I get a proper baby belly. I have noticed this past week my body seems to be changing shape, my lower belly is rounding out at my hips a bit more and it is beginning to look more pg than fat. :-0

Oh and my midwife just said I had a bmi of 34 which is one away from when they would refer me to a dietician so try not to be too unhealthy but not to worry. :) She's lovely so that helps!

H&H 9 months everyone!

Im drinking flavored polar seltzer water. I love it.

Is anyone having problems with Asthma ( I know its kinda off the topic, but my doctor told me obesity and asthma are linked)
I have to see my pulm doc once a month. He switched me to Pulmicort and upped my dose, but im still taking my albuteral inhailer twice a day and its rated C. Blah, Im so scared about that but I can't breath.

My asthma has been fine although I do get out of puff and feel wheezy like I've run 10k! Doc said it's down to the extra blood in my body??

Oooh Princess CHIPS!!! now I want some! Currently addicted to cereal... Very healthy!!x

Hey girls. Can I just have a little moan.....Been that kinda day.
Went maternity shopping today as my jeans no longer do up etc etc, so anyway, ventured into new look and mothercare, none of these shops went any bigger than a size 16, needless to say I was flustered and annoyed! Went to next, they had 18's(in jeans) but all in skinny fit/under bump etc and wouldnt go past my fat ass! So came away with nothing, and feeling even more fat and yucky than ever! :(
So have decided to hell with it, leggings and dresses is the way forward and I can just buy them in a bigger size normally....AND probably save myself some money too!

Oh and thought id share my 'plus size' bump with you all. 11 weeks almost :)

Ahh Jaybear you look lovely! I like your top

Look at Next online hun - i have a gorgeous pair (currently modelling!) that are the over the bump ones but they have a thick band rather than like the giant knicker thingy or under the bump - i have no lumps, no fat bits, it's all contained and i've also bought 2 bump cover things (like mini skirts) and they hold them up a bit more! Deffo look on line as it's got so many options and you can get it all delivered free to the store xx

Maternity clothes shopping isn't something I am looking forward to as I am only 4ft 9" and shopping in general is a pain in the ass, let alone with a bump.

As for drinks I don't like fizzy drinks much, I will have the occasional ginger beer, but mainly water and herbal tea for me.

Jaybear, you look fantastic!

I have bother with maternity wear too. Being a size 22/24 means I can't get any. Floaty tops and leggings work for me too. Fortunately, my employer provides a maternity uniform in my size, so that helps!

Loving the bump Jaybear :) and your top looks really nice too. Hope you get more success shopping soon. Keep us posted xx
