Since most of us are pretty young and won't be interested in having another child for at least a little while I just wondered what kinds of birth control you girls had thought of/are going to use after the birth of your baby?

I'm not entirely sure yet since I wasn't on anything when I got pregnant just using condoms but obviously they break so I'm looking at other alternatives. Thing is I'm so paranoid of using condoms now that I feel like I'd rather rely on something else. I haven't really looked into anything besides the pill and I'm kind of interested in the shot they do and the IUD's.

Well I am now on the pill, it's called Alesse (sp?). I was planning on getting the IUD but it just cost way too much, about $350(cdn). But the pill works just fine for me! :flower:

I had the Mirena IUD and liked it. Decided to have it removed 9 months later though as we are going to TTC next year and I kind of decided I didn't want anything physically or chemically in me, kwim? So right now we are using condoms until October 2012. :flower:

i was on the pill about a year ago but kept forgetting to take it so we just decided to use the withdrawel method and it worked for us.
after ive had the baby im thinking about getting the injection but not decided yet.

I was having this convo with my DH just a few min. ago. I rly don't want to go on birth control besides condoms after LO is born. I feel like the pill is what caused some of my infertility issues plus I have PCOS. Of course the pill is a great option for PCOS suffers bc we sometimes go long periods of time without having a period and when we do have one its pretty heavy. So the pill helps with those issues but besides that I dont rly like the pill. I can never find one that works for me. I stay sick everytime I go on the pill. I have tried many different brands and none have settled with me. I don't know much about the IUD's but we will talk to the dr. and see.

I rather just let nature take its course and prevent by using condoms but idk yet.

I was thinking about the IUD's but then my sister was telling me all this bad stuff D:
I was also thinking the shot, so it's not like I have to remember the pill everyday, as it would be harder with a child as well.
But I have to wait until my doctor talks to me about it, so I can be put on the best thing in his suggestion.. Wheather it be the pill or not.

We will just go back too pull out / condoms after #2 I was on the pill before TTC Hollie and it took 3 months I just dont want any of that rubbish I'll keep my hormones how they are with out andy drugs thanks.

BTW pull out isnt 100% you know, as you can get pregnant off pre-cum. Just thought i'd let you know.

I was on the pill pre-pregnancy but never used condoms. I don't know why but I am just not a fan of them, not like the real thing :D But after baby, I think I will try the IUD Merena. I was also on the shot when i was younger but it made me bleed constantly (spot actually.)

I'm thinking about doing the shot and using condoms. I was on the pill when I got pregnant with this little surprise! It was my fault though, I'm forgetful and should have known the pill wasn't the best idea for me. And we didn't use condoms  But I guess we all learn from our errors.

Lol the SAME thing happened to me. I was on the pill and forgot ALL the time i NEVER used a condom. FAIL. lol oh well we definitely will learn :D

Oh yes I learned lol I don't plan on having another LO for a few more years!

Me either at least until I find a better guy hahaa (I am not with baby daddy)!

I think im going for morena they wont tie my tubes at 21. I like sex without a condom(with my hunny),and im forgetful so the pill is a no go. I heard theres a shot you can get to prevent pregnany for 5 months i think...

I was on Allese for like 3 months until I gained like a gazillion pounds on it. Just condoms for us

I said i was not going to have any more babys and look at me number two is on her way. Lol it happens. But i wish i woulda found a better way to prevent it

I was looking at Mirena but I don't like the idea of my OH possibly feeling the thread and he apparently doesn't want to use condoms because they kind of got us in this situation.

I've read up on contraceptives more since my first post and I don't like the idea of passing even a tiny bit of the hormones on to my baby if I'm still breastfeeding even if the chances of causing harm are slim to none.

They sure make this stuff hard to decide what's best for you :dohh:

I read some contraceptives can put you off getting pregnant for a little while and I definitely want to be able to TTC as soon as possible after we decide to do it.

For those of you who were on something before pregnancy was the whole 'irregular period' thing awful? I keep thinking that means you'd have to walk around constantly with a tampon in or a pad in your bag maybe I'm over-thinking it though.

Having irregular periods is kind of annoying, but it isn't too bad. I always have tampons on me anyways just in case, but usually I would cramp a couple days before my period came so I would be prepared. I wouldn't just start bleeding out of nowhere :haha: I also have PCOS so my periods are very irregular. That's the main reason I was on the pill, to help regulate my periods, and I had terrible cramps. Good luck with whatever you decide to do

I have no idea yet. Its a no for pill tho. Ive heard good stuff about Mirena IUD as my mum recommended that too... So dunno yet!

I wasn't on anything for the longest time and didn't get pregnant, then I got together with my OH and went on the pill for a little under three months.. it was called Noriman? Anyways I got super depressed and had no sex drive or motivation to do anything.. It got pretty bad. So I got off it and planned on trying another pill once my period came but.. it never did :p I'm thinking IUD afterwards :)

Concidering i haven't got an OH in my life. I don't think i'll be needing contraceptive anytime soon :p
